  1. The quote was from yesterday in response to a question as to why Trent didn't throw downfield Friday night against the Skins.

it IS a re-statement of what was said shortly after coach gailey was hired - try to keep up - there is nothing new here - noone is being thrown under the bus/being blamed for anything - don't try and make up stuff that is clearly not there - geez kids these days

  2. What a mess! The worst team;look at our qb situation...a joke. We have arguably one of the worst owners in the history of sports. The man just milks every dollar out of this team. The people of WNY deserve better.

not a fan of your lack of common respect for MR. wilson - and i hope that in time puberty will not affect you so harshly. and btw i am really touched by your sentiments of what the people of wny deserve.

  3. Nobody is getting on their knees, or claiming that he is a HOF coach. Your constant negativity is a real downer for me, anyone who reads your posts, and probably anyone that knows you in real life. ROOT for your team like you should, or go find another to hate on.

well said and i agree 100%

  4. I wasn't overly surprised about his inclusion, but nonetheless, anytime a former Bill is included i any list its great. Just makes you long for those days again. Anyways, here is the top 10:

    3) Johnny Unitas

    4) Joe Montana

can't really argue with the names in the top 10. but i would have placed them in a different order i think. something like this:

    1) Jim Brown

    2) Joe Montana

    3) Johnny Unitas

    4) Jerry Rice

    5) Bruce Smith

    6) Reggie White

    7) Anthony Munoz

    8) Joe Greene

    9) Dick Butkus

    10) Lawrence Taylor

  5. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/...rst-depth-chart

Not many surprises - guess the reports on Hardy and McKelvin were right...

Can Friday just get here already?

i have questions: who's buffalo bills depth chart is this? is it espn's? is it tim graham's? who's is it? it is not the official buffalo bills depth chart because they have not revealed it yet - as it is not on the official site's web page - and i do not think that coach gailey or gm nix release this kind of informaiton through media reporters - not doubting the content or accuracy of the information at all here - just wondering who's depth chart it is.

  6. Anybody know what times/days the Bills preseason games are being shown on NFL Network (or national tv?) We're getting requests to show the games at McFadden's for the NYCBBB, but can't find the schedule and don't see posted here.

  7. The announcement that Spiller and the Bills have come to terms on a deal will come tomorrow (Friday). What am I basing this on? Nothing factual and no insider information. Nothing like that. Really, nothing at all, other than my Spidey sense. I'm good at randomly predicting things like "I feel like there's going to be an interception on this play" and "I bet after pushing the elevator call button that the elevator doors to the left will open first, not the doors on the right". When I walked out of a meeting an hour ago- and 1,000 miles from training camp- I just had a gutt feeling this thing was done. So I'm throwing it out there. The deal is done and will be announced tomorrow. Mark it down!!

    good call

At 3:02 in, who is Chan discussing?

if coach's response to the question at 3:02 was:

“The guy comes out to play every day. It looks like he’s made up his mind that he wants to be a very good football player. I think that bouncing around is not what he intended for his career and I think he’s decided to go out and make himself the position. He’s been impressive.”

then, it was wr chad jackson

  9. “I’m relieved. I’m happy,” Schobel told Buffalobills.com. “With this happening it feels like they’re ready for me to go on. I think I was more of a headache than a benefit so it’s time. I don’t have any regrets looking back. I really don’t. I enjoyed the fans for the most part and my time in Buffalo.”

So he didn't like some of the fans? WTF! :)

you are surprised by this? just for example after some garbage that hossage has written on this public forum concerning private conversations where he supposedly told him about his misfeelings about the bills - not to mention what he said about schobel's wife - and you think he doesn't like some of the fans??? really?!?!!

  10. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...to-other-teams/

Another quality player is allowed to talk his way off of the team, and the Bills get nothing in return. I thought those days were over.

Nix makes it clear on Schobel

    By Chris Brown - Posted August 2, 2010 – 10:42 am

Bills GM Buddy Nix made it clear regarding Aaron Schobel’s career with the Bills. It’s over.

“He will remain on our Reserve/Did Not Report list until he makes a decision about what he wants to do, whether it’s retire or if he might want to play somewhere else,” said Nix.

If Schobel does want to play elsewhere, the Bills will then begin to explore trade options. It’s clear the Bills will not outright release him.

which means that schobel will either retire or the bills will get something in return via trade - this indicates that there is no other option available for schobel - also either way the 8 million salary the bills will save on will help ease the loss.

  11. Kareem Jackson got a hell of a deal by the looks of it. More guaranteed money than the 5 players that were taken ahead of him. I always wonder how stuff like that happens.

This is one of my biggest gripes with NFL rookie contracts. Whoever drafts in slot #20 next year will have a tough time getting their player signed because Houston way overpaid (in guarenteed money) for #20 this year.

And Bradford getting nearly 20% more in guaranteed money than Stafford did just last year. At this rate guaranteed money is going to be jumping up $10 million per year for the #1 pick and the increases are exponential. By 2014 you're looking at $100 million guaranteed for the #1 pick, if things continue as is. Time for a change.

Carson Palmer received $16.4 million guaranteed after being selected first overall in 2003. JaMarcus Russell received $29 million guaranteed 4 years later (in the 2007 draft). A jump of 76.7% in just 4 years. Fast forward another 3 years to Sam Bradford's $50 million in guaranteed money. A jump of 72.4% in now just 3 years. In just 7 years the guaranteed money paid out to the #1 pick has more than tripled. Things have gotten totally out of hand, and the NFL no longer has a sustainable model for paying high 1st round picks. It's clearly becoming more of a nuisance than help to possess these top 5 picks. Can you imagine if it triples again in the next 7 years......$150 million guaranteed.......what the hell?

the money is just crazy - not that i'd refuse it - but it is crazy

  13. What is going on here? What am I missing?

He has played for Buffalo for nine seasons. We have made the playoffs exactly zero times during that span. The guy has never seemed to care. If he did, this was the perfect opportunity to be a leader for once and set an example for the young guys as they transition to the 3-4. But instead he allegedly will only come back and play for $8 million a year if the Bills meet his other demands. I am sure Troupe and Carrington can't wait for this "legend" to show up mid-August when it's convenient for him.

How is everyone - including the Bills - tolerating this? Seriously. Even if he was committed, I have reservations about how effective he would be in the 3-4. Now he doesn't know if he even wants to play? Give me a break.

Just release him. Let me play where he wants. Thanks for the years, but you haven't been playing for free. You can't committ to the Bills; they shouldn't have to committ to you. The Bills will not be any worse off.

it may have to do with the fact that he is the number 2 all-time sack leader in bills history behind bruce smith and perhaps they would like to see if can equal his 10 sacks last year or maybe even get a few more. just a guess though - i could be wrong about that.

  14. I think at this point we all assumed Schobel would be back, but sources deep within the leafy suburb of Orchard Park (er, his wife) confirm that #94 is back. Thank god for gossiping housewives. He is planning on renting a place up here. Maybe this thread won't get deleted.

sometimes gossiping housewives have the best insider info - good post and thanks for the info
