This is a longer watch but is a really good report on all the different angles/players involved in the modern ticketing model. It covers a lot of the stuff being discussed in this thread from varying points of view.

Because face value is basically non-existent and price changes regularly.
This is accurate. Ever since TM added their variable based pricing model the second a show goes on sale the price is immediately determined based on the customer traffic load on their site.
The idea that a certain section of a certain arena will always be around the same face value cost for any given concert is forever gone as long as TM is the main player.

Used to laugh at Fat Larry in his yellow Porsche out hocking tickets every Sunday off of 90. Ahh the good ole days. I will say TM has made the process easier and safer at the expense of insane prices. I used to routinely walk in around game time and scoop great seats for $20 or less, that was nice, but it was always a risk that they might be duplicates etc.Maybe I’m wrong, but I think the live entertainment industry is in trouble, because of their deal with the Devil, they have alienated the average person, you now have to be stupid or rich to attend more than an event or 2 a year. There’s definitely a lot of stupidity in the world so maybe it holds up, but the vast majority of the market is not going anymore.
Read an article a few weeks ago about the rising ticket prices which said based on their research and data that a high percentage of people are using payment plans for single event tickets. IIRC it was over 60% for Coachella. That makes me think that an even bigger chunk of people are probably just running up credit cards to cover these prices.
I blame this trend of high ticket prices on social media. It is causing way too much FOMO which is driving up the prices because more and more people just can't imagine missing out and need to go at any cost.
Long gone are the days where anyone could just say that were at the big show/game to not feel left out. Now if you don't have a selfie of yourself at the event you are relegated to a lower social class.

My family has had seats on the visitor side around the 35 yard line row 30 for decades.
Being a section closer to center field would be a little nicer but I think the distance from the field is perfect. Has a nice above angle on the field to be able to see everything unfold perfectly.
Also it is nice to not have too far of a walk up the aisle to the concourse. I had row 5 for the opener last year and man my old a55 legs were feeling it the next day after a few trips up and down on those stairs.

This random game was a blast!
The "Rickey Williams game" in 2002. He goes for 200+ and we still destroy them in a winter wonderland setting.
This was a memorable one for me too but for a little different reason. I was watching the game at a bar in Depew and remember that when that snow rolled into the stadium late into that game it wasn't doing anything up north where I was.
However by the time I left the place, 20 minutes or so after the game had ended, the system had moved to my location and it was a rough ride home.

Every time a thread like this comes up this is the first game I think of.
Th results of that season notwithstanding, the feeling in the crowd for that opener was one of the best I remember being a part of.

The whole thing was awesome until the shuttles at the end. Still I would go to that show again knowing the nightmare of what was to come after. The one thing I wish was that suicidal got a better mix. Sound man did them no favors. If you were familiar with ST then you might have been lost as to what was going on, but I know their songs well so I was able to follow along fine.
I heard the shuttles after the convert was a 💩 show. Sorry for the people who had to deal with that. I was lucky enough to be able to have the wife drop me off early and then come pick me up about an hour after the show ended so I didn't have to deal with any of the post show traffic nightmares.
Agree about ST. Their sound was terrible. Not a massive fan but I know a handful of their songs. I might have been kind of tuned out by then but I didn't even realize they played Subliminal until I saw the setlist the next day. Not sure why the sound was so jacked up for them but then ok for Pantera and very good for Metallica.

I thought it ended up going a lot more smoothly than I predicted, at least in the area around where I was sitting, 117.
Definitely got crowded at times but concessions and bathrooms seemed to be pretty manageable all night.
How was anyone else's experience?
-
I'll be there.
For anyone not familiar with the Dome it is woefully unequipped for a crowd of this size, so be prepared for concourses even worse than the Ralph during halftime as far as crowd density.

Played a ton of Euchre in high school and college when I lived in the Buffalo area.
Then when I moved to the Syracuse area no one had ever heard of it. It is all Pitch around here.
Used to play on yahoo a lot when they still had live games and it seemed like most of the people I would meet on there were from WNY, Ohio, or Canada so if definitely seems somewhat regional.

As the wife he’s talking about, I’ll narrow down my interests:
food places
boutique-like stores that sell bills memorabilia
Basically anything bills related. I’m not interested in anything historic unless it has something to do with the team 😂
I know it’s May and none of them are around, but I’m also interested if anyone knows of any of the players favorite places. I want to walk where they’ve trod.
thanks for all the suggestions, I just am not very interested in museums. A few landmarks, though, would be welcomed
There is a place like this right downtown in the canal side area, near the arena, attached to a kid's museum called Explore & More.
They have Bills stuff along with other Buffalo sports teams and things just for Buffalo in general. It has a small boutique like feel and my wife, who also enjoys those types of stores, loves this place and always insists on a browse there when we are in the area.

I’m pretty sure Helena Eagen is pregnant with Mark S’s baby.I have been thinking they would go down that road as well.
A lot of interesting story angles to play around with the idea of two different personas and a pregnancy.

speaking of Lost, I finally decided in the last few months to watch that show after never having seen it ever before. Made it through middle of season 4, and have gotten pretty tired of the twists. Not sure I can finish it!That is right about the same time my friend's wife gave up on it too. She was adamant that there was no way they would be able to wrap all of the mysteries up and explain it well.
We laughed it off at the time but in retrospect she was way ahead of the curve.

I guess this is ok as a time saver but I actually kind of like the drama of waiting to see where that chain lines up when the chain gang comes out.
Guess I am old school.

I'm very surprised to come here and not see a long discussion regarding severance. I feel like that's the most talked about show in the last few months. I get some people couldn't get into it, but for those of us that love it, well, what an ending to season 2
Severance is a fantastic show. So many interesting concepts to wrap your mind around.
Also great for discussion. I don't remember talking as much about a show week to week with coworkers since maybe Lost.
However I'm also worried some of this won't really lead to anything cohesive like Lost as well.

I agree this feels like a Bills landing spot assuming they won't repeat from last year's teams.
I'm thinking Cincy@Buffalo sounds about right, or maybe Philly.
-
I don't get why people are so against the chains. Unless you initially measure wrong when creating them I don't see how they can be inaccurate.
The problem is spotting the ball. That seems to me to be the area that needs electronic assistance.

The refs and the league didn't think so based on the flag and subsequent fine.

Way too many specific football game memories to list them all out.
In general though I will always remember my earliest visits as a kid with my Grandma. She would always bring a thermos with hot cocoa for the cold games when you were still allowed to bring stuff like that in. Small things like that really added to the magic of that place as a kid.
For non football though I will never forget the Metallica / Guns and Roses concert in 1992. That was an insane time.

I'm sure it will be a big talking point this season.
I recall it being a thing during the 2019 season when the Pats*** were looking to reach their 4th straight.

My biggest fear this season was facing the Iggles in the SB.
It would have given us the chance to do a very "Bills" thing - suffer a defeat in the super bowl to every single NFC East team.
Well technically you'd have to throw the Cardinals in there as well seeing they were a part of that division for the first 4 Super Bowl losses.
😈😁

I've seen a handful of posts in this thread, and probably 100 more over the course of the season, crushing Beane for not trading up and picking Brian Thomas Jr.
Do we know for sure that he didn't try and and make a move to get somewhere above Jacksonville?
I'm asking honestly because so many people on the boards are so convinced that we had the chance to go up and get him, and just decided not to, that I am assuming that I missed an interview or something that confirmed this.

Seems like SU is going to start falling farther behind because of the NIL and transfer portal regardless of who is heading the program.
They just don't have the billionaire boosters needed to write the checks like a lot of the bigger programs do.
Adam Weistman might have helped but I have been hearing that the university has been wanting to distance themselves from him now.
Most Beloved Bills: 1 year (ok up to 2)

My initial thought was Bryce Paup but looks like he played 3 years. Guess I just remember the one dominant season he had.
So instead I'll say Reggie Bush.
Have to give some love to a guy with negative rushing yards for his Buffalo Bills career. 😄
