It's a joke of a tactic that never works in the NFL, but it's all McDermott's got.  For him, it passes as high level strategery, along with bringing out the offense to run the "hard count" on 4th and 2 from the 50, taking a delay of game, then punting the ball into the end-zone. Loser.

Maybe this works in high school or college but in NFL.  WTF was he thinking other than making sure they didn’t have 12 on field again. So stupid. If anything, giving a professional more time to mentally prepare, from snap to holder to kicker, helps them. I hate this crap.

Each team’s QB in the playoff race:

    Browns - DTR

    Steelers - Pickett

Texans - Stroud (good but the rookie wall is real)

    Bengals - Browning

    Colts - Minshew

Us - JA, who is 19-3 since 2020 from week 11 on. ‘Nuff said.

    Go Bills!

Too bad we are not playing any of those teams.  Instead we have

    Hurts

    Mahones

    Prescott

    Herbert

    Mac maybe

    Tua

thats are tough stretch. We need at least 30 each outing. Will be tough but still alive. Go Bills.

  3. Although he didn’t get a sack and there were definitely times where I was screaming at TV when he seemed to run pass the QB by 20 yards, I thought he started looking faster and could see glimpses. Also looked like he drew a couple DTs and almost got to QB a couple times. Hopefully he is getting there.

    Some thoughts below:

    1.  This should have been the year for the Bills to win the AFC championship.  The AFC has been not as strong as many thought going into the season.  The Bengals are likely done because of the injury to Burrows, the Chiefs are weaker offensively and better on defense, the Dolphins have not beat any good teams, and the Browns lost Watson.  I think the Ravens and Jags are good but not great, and the Steelers have been lucky.  Chargers have a lot talent but can't get it together.  Seems relatively wide open this year, but the Bills may not make the playoffs.

    2.  I have no idea what is going on with JA, if anything.  Weird that there seems to be a narrative developing that he does not prepare enough or that he is emotionally checked out.  Never would have expected this stuff from him, and I hope that it is not true.  His demeanor has seemed off, at least with his interviews (post-game and Dorsey).

    3.  If McD gets fired, does Beane depart as well even if Pegula wants him to stay?  My sense is that McD and Beane are a package deal (they both go if one goes), but I would hope that Beane will stay if McD is let go.  Wonder what the contracts provide?

    4.  Injuries have had a significant impact on the Bills this season, but I hope that Joseph and Douglas will be at least adequate replacements for the remainder of the season (and I think they will be).  The loss of Milano has hurt, and it will continue to for the rest of the season.

    5.  With all the negative stuff that has happened so far this season, Bernard's play has been a bright spot.  Many seemed to think he was a draft bust, but he has played exceptionally well and I am looking forward to the combination of a healthy Milano and Bernard next season.  He seems to have all of the things that were missing with the play of Edmunds.  Another surprise this season has been the play of Dawkins.  He has played much better than last season and much better than I expected.

    6.  Weird that there is so much drama associated with the Bills.  The Bengals were 5-4 before their loss last night to the Ravens, and I don't think I have heard any soap opera kind of stuff out of Cincinnati.

    7.  I think we need a lot more than Diggs at WR.  A vertical threat and a WR that gets YAC would make a big difference for the offense and JA.

I can’t imagine mcbeane and McD as a package deal as there is too much money on tables especially with the extensions. I can’t see BBB quitting and losing guarantees on contract.

  5. Regardless if he is a dictator or not the writing seems to be on the wall for McD’s tenure. Either the death spiral continues and he’s let go at end of the year or the ship corrects course. Issues will be if we go like 4-3 down the stretch  and either barely miss playoffs or are one and done.  During McD tenure I don’t think I have ever said that we out schemed the other side and the coaching blunders, beyond just regular crap like bad challenges and stuff, always seem to bite us.

  6. I feel bad for the guy as a person but this was needed.

This year at the J-ville game a bunch of us before the game were hanging out up front in stands for warmups  and I remember watching Dorsey some. Watching him I told my wife, man that guy looks nervous. He was by himself just starring out into nothing and talking to no one.  It was bizarre.  Just seemed to be in over his head

contrast that with 2019, on field before game and saw Daboll.  He took pic with me and young son.  He was out there talking with players and gave Josh a big hug before game.

Dorsey needed to stay a QB coach longer or too bad the Giants didn’t take him with Daboll. Wish him the best but this needed to happen.

You’re missing the point. I’m not comparing Josh to those QBs, he’s accomplished so much more obviously. My point was that the offensive personnel he has to work with is superior to what those guys are working with as well as others not mentioned. We’d love for Josh to be protected by an impenetrable oline, to be throwing to two #1 wide receivers, to be handing the ball off to an all world RB, the offense should be easy in that setup but if he needs all of that for the offense to be counted on game after game, then we’re in trouble.

If Hopkins was the intended target on that Harty INT last night, we’d get the same result. Ditto for the last game where Allen tried to throw to Davis in the honey hole. The Jets INTs? I mean we could go on and on. If he was sharper mentally and dedicated himself to really breaking down defensive film and tendencies, to the point he knew where his answers always were in any given coverage, I’d be shocked if the offense didn’t look much better.

I wasn’t excited by the Dorsey firing, because I don’t expect the offense to suddenly improve by leaps and bounds. Throws were available in Dorsey’s offense as well, but the execution was lacking. I would’ve been far more excited if I had read that McD had been relieved of his duties. We’ll see what happens under Joe Brady, but I surmise we’ll have many of the same complaints.

I wasn’t excited but it was needed. But seems about as much of a win win that we could get w/ exception of McD being relieved. If we pull off a miracle and win next seven games then we IDd a problem.  If not, which is more likely, it definitely creates a compelling case to fire McD. I am so grateful of the turn around and what he has done but he is a poor coach when game is on the line and team is regressing. Time for a change if we hope to salvage what is left.

For the people who call josh hollywood and say he is hollywood and doesn't work hard.

Congrats.  You are a simpleton and you are the reason sports broadcasting and journalism is where it is at.  You buy into nonsense  and then repeat it.

The fact that Allen is a villain on this message board is completely absurd.

a bit of an overreaction no?  We all want Josh to succeed, he’s an amazing talent …ya da ya da but he is really REALLY struggling this year. Get your head out of the sand. A lot of things need to change next year and Josh’s play is one of them. Go Bills.

  9. I can’t really put my finger on why but it seems obvious and clear that McD has lost locker room and players don’t believe in scheme, coach, process whatever. Couple of weird observations

    1. handshake with Daboll.  Clearly those guys don’t like each other yet our QB and many former players love Daboll and I think Josh says he talks to him every week

    2. WR coach leaving after last year to take a lateral job. Just seems odd.

Things are off and at least getting to point that I remember during drought years where you move into phase of comical acceptance. 12 men on field definitely helped with that.

next year we definitely need coaching changes as our cap situation won’t allow much roster movement. Ughh. Go Bills.

  10. I know Josh loves golf and that is fine but it sure seems like he has not focused on training with WRs or development the last couple of seasons  as he has become more Hollywood. I don’t want to believe it and these guys definitely need an off season to reboot but I hope he gets back to training with Palmer and maybe throwing some with WRs.

  11. Yep, I feel for Diggs as he is likely on team for at least a couple more years and will be past prime when he can move on from this staff. He saw writing on wall about coaches and Josh’s regression. I think he knows the something of why Josh is not focused anymore.

  12. Thanks to all that served especially to combat vets. Funny Bills story. AF vet deployed for year. While gone brother put me in for Perry’s Ice cream Best fan of year and used a picture of me at a T-wall with a Buffalo Bill painted on it in Iraq. Also either as a joke or something for favorite flavor he checked sugar free rainbow sherbet as fav flavor. Anyhow, we were a top 10 finalist and winner get tixs to Tampa game, go on field before and threw tunnel.  But I was gone for year and wife (not a native WNY but had become a Bills fan) and mom got to experience it all. She still remarks at what a specimen TO was.  They did put my picture on jumbo tron I think with a giant rainbow saying fav flavor sugar free rainbow sherbet. I still catch sh!t from some buddies about that who were at the game.

    Thank you vets. Go Bills.

I'm not even sure I'd be confident that Poyer or Hyde would be able to give you a full season next year. I'm afraid Poyer's arm is going to fall off every time he makes a tackle, and Hyde seems like he could be one unlucky hit away from being done for good (and luck has not been on our side as of late).

I really hope Hyde hangs them up after this year for his and Bills sake. I would hate for us to be tempted to bring him back and personally it seems like he is one hit away from being truly physically broken. Both him and Poyer have been amazing to watch but it’s time

    For sure with that success.

I also think Flores/McDaniel and Zimmer/OConnell are great examples too.

Defensive coaches that hit their ceiling, and the team (and QB) improves under a new Offensive "unknown".

Only reason to not do it now is: Fear. Which is right up there with playing not to lose. Sounds very McD.

McD is the epitome of playing scared to win. I hated that it happened but Bengals decision to pass on that last drive and pick up 20 was respectable. McClappy would never do that. Like bucs game, we would run it three plays and punt

  15. How much guaranteed money did McD get with the extension? Would he really be opposed to getting canned.  Seems like a solid dude, changed the culture but isn’t going to take us close to a Lombardi.  If we miss playoffs and he’s still coaching, Josh will forever be Phillips Rivers 2. Unfortunately I see that happening and that is what makes this season especially depressing at this moment. I still hate the fact he authorized the hanging of the Lombardi in field house.  #stefisright. Go Bills

  16. It always seems so pretentious and somewhat ironic for the posts that sprout up lecturing fans (fanatics) about negative posts on a community message forum board.  Yeah there are people who are negative and positive, crazy opinions and rational ones but please spare everyone the lecture.  Don’t like the opinion then just move on or comment.
