Coleman is not slow, he just ran a slow 40yd dash, there's a difference. The 40 is a track event- not a football event. His track start was awful & clearly cost him time. It's a good thing that 0% of routes in football require you to start in a track stance. I'd bet if Coleman spent a week or 2 with a track coach he'd run 4.50ish, without even getting any faster, just learning how to start properly.
The 40 is a great indicator of overall speed, but only if you master how to run it. It can be a poor indicator if track form is out of whack.
Exhibit A: Go watch Josh Allen's 40 from the combine, it was horrendous. It looks like he never trained with a track coach before the combine, his start & running technique are so wrong. Josh is so much faster in game than he showed in this track drill while wearing shorts.
We should be thankful that he ran a 4.6, because if he ran a 4.50, he wouldn't have made it to us in the draft.

If you watch Bishop's first interview at OBD, he says that he can play both FS & SS equally.
His first 2 years at Utah, he only played SS. In the '23 season he played exclusively one half of the field & that ended up being either FS or SS depending on the play, it was a pretty even split.

Boldin was drafted a year before Larry Fitzgerald. Boldin was the only WR Arizona had his rookie year- and he put up 101 catches, 1377 yards, & 8 TDs.

Ok, they obviously don't want Troy Franklin, at least come away with Tez Walker. I also really like Brendan Rice & Jalen Coker.

I think #33 should be receiver. Franklin, Mitchell, McConkey, Polk, and Coleman are all players to take a shot at. I just don’t think that is a good idea given we are so weak at the position and need to get one of them.
Couldn't agree more with this.
If we pass on DeJean, there will be plenty of other Safety prospects in rounds 3-5, of which McBeane no doubt have identified a few who are very good fits for us.
If we pass on WR & take DeJean, it's much riskier finding a WR later.

It still baffles me that the NFL doesn't require mouthguards to actually be in the mouth, which actually helps protect from concussions. Instead we get idiots running around with their neon colored mouthguards just flapping in the wind, because it "looks cool".

I agree. I watched some Washington games to look at Odunze, but it was Polk who stood out to me. I think he'll be a very good NFL player.

I read somewhere yesterday that the medical issue with Thomas Jr is believed to eventually require surgery, and the hope is that he could make it through the 2024 season before getting it next offseason.
Sounds an awful lot like when Shaq Lawson was flagged for a shoulder issue pre-draft. We of course drafted him anyway, then he misses his entire rookie season recovering from shoulder surgery that we knew he'd need.

Tweeners who don't fit a singular position do usually bust, but there have been some successes.
Brian Urlacher played Safety-LB hybrid & returned kicks at New Mexico, he was a stud at MLB from day 1 in the NFL.

I prefer to look at by which 2 WRs we'd end up with if we took McConkey or Leggette at #28.
Which pair would you rather have:
A) McConkey & Brendan Rice
B) Leggette & Tez Walker
It's A all day for me.

Robert Gallery.
Considered a generational OT prospect, rated a perfect 9.0 pre-draft. Was horrendous at LT & really bad as a RT. Still terrible 2 years later, was labeled as a monumental bust. Moved to OG & was solid, played another 6 years.
I remember all the pre-draft concern about his 32.25" arm length, well under the 34" usually wanted in a LT. They were right...

I don't see Worthy as having a high floor at all. His floor is John Ross, which is a complete and utter bust & useless as an NFL player. He's a very risky player.
I think McConkey's floor is a decent NFL player, that's the definition of a high floor.

Man, I do not want us to draft Worthy. I just don't see him working out in the NFL. I've also been against Keon Coleman, but I'd much rather have him than Worthy.

We'll draft 2 safeties in rounds 4-7. Most of us will say "who?" when the picks are announced. They'll be scheme fits that McBeane identified from non Power-5 conferences- in the mold of the Benford pick. One of the new Safeties will really shine in camp, we'll all be pleasantly surprised & praise their ability to evaluate DBs.

Burks is 6'2" 225lbs. I'd be ok with adding him, but no way for Elam. I liked him in the draft, but he hasn't really done anything in the NFL. If we could get him for a 4th or something, heck yeah.

I think now that we need a WR who can legit compete from Day 1, our draft strategy may change a bit.
I see AD Mitchell, Franklin, Legette, & even Brian Thomas Jr as somewhat raw (to varying degrees) & in need of development- the type of guys who won't really come alive the last 6-8 games of their rookie year. I think McConkey is pro-ready now & could put up a Puka-like rookie season in our offense.

I fully agree with this. I'd love McConkey, Defense, Brenden Rice.
I think McConkey is the WR most likely to provide big contributions from Day 1.

If Dobbins has even 1 successful season post achilles tear, he'll be the first RB in NFL history to do so. Add in the knee issues, and I see very small odds that he is ever somebody we need to worry about for the Chiefs.
Here's what happened post-achilles to the recent RBs who've come back. This is a couple years old, you can add Marlon Mack & Cam Akers to the list who have also flamed out.

I feel like it'll be the opposite, I don't see Worthy going in the 1st round. NFL teams don't get crazy over 40 times like the "draft gurus" do. I do think Dallas would be the most likely team to do it though.

He has us trading up from #28 to #20 with Pittsburgh. To move up it cost our first this year, 2nd this year and first next year.
He has us selecting WR Xavier Worthy with the 20th selection.
And Pittsburgh signs Brian Thomas Jr with the 28th pick...
I would be at 1 Bills Drive with a pitchfork before Goodell finished with the announcement.
Worthy is not a first round talent, he's the next Mecole Hardman. If we gave up two 1st rounders & a 2nd when we could've just drafted a much better player at #28, I imagine most Bills fans would join me.

This is our most important draft in years, as we likely need 2-3 starters from it. I'd be furious if we draft the next Mecole Hardman in the 1st round.
