Was OK with Barkley till last season.  Don't know what happened to him but we do need a reliable backup QB.  Cam, despite where he comes from,  is not the answer for the BILLS.

The only full game he played was the last one with the 2nd teamers. he also played in the NE game & threw an int. The year before he played like an all pro on the road in his only playing time. He's obviously not an all pro but seems to be a good backup. I do agree that we should be grooming a young QB on the practice squad - just in case of the "what ifs". What if Josh has a serious debilitating injury. What if he eventually decides that he would rather play closer to his family in Cali. What if he regresses. All of the above is not likely but neither was the corona virus. Just saying.

New England is going through cap problems they can’t afford him and I highly doubt The Emperor would wanna deal with Newton’s ego lol. Miami , Jacksonville seem like more realistic choices for newton. But before anyone signs him he has to pass the physical, idk if he’s still banged up

    Chargers?

If i put ford at guard then i would let feliciano or long go.  probably make feliciano the back up if hell take the money.  if ford is better than feliciano at RG then i dont think they would be better served with feliciano at RG.  that said i dont know how good ford would be at RG, but i would def take one of the top 4 tackles if they somehow magically fell in the draft.

Don't forget. Feliciano also plays Center & played it very well when he was called on.

If he's just referring to the fact that it's a one year deal, then that's fair. But I literally mentioned that in my post by saying "But it's a one year deal and we have plenty of cap space so who really cares?"

$6-8 million for a guy that has been terrible the last few years is not cheap though; that's top 20-30 CB money. He could rebound and be end up playing like a top 20-30 CB, but we're paying him on the upside. If he simply maintains his level of play from the past few years, he's worth more like the vet minimum.

Again though, I like that we're bringing him in and I don't care about his contract since it's just a one-year deal.

I would guess that Norman may have had other offers in the 5M range. If we wanted him , then we had to beat those offers.

I personally am thinking someone whos young. Still has ability. Good size, Booker is near 220 lbs. His rookie year was his best year.

Denver at that time had a very solid OLine, solid WRs... so good they made Trevor Siemian look good.

What has Denver done since? The OL diminished, WRs are junk, QB situation has been terrible. Philip Lindsey stepped up cause he’s better in the passing game.

Booker for the most part has been available, healthy. He’s still young and can still play. I feel Booker can be had for $2-3M per tops. I think he could be a solid backup. I prefer Jordan Howard, but Howard is gonna take $5-6M per easily.

IMO Booker still has ability and has been healthy. In the right situation on the right team I think he can succeed.

Look, Cleveland did nothing with Poyer, Green Bay with Hyde, Lorax, Jordan Phillips, Feliciano, Spain.... all those dudes other teams and fans wrote them off. I think Booker still has game. Not only that he can be had cheap.

    Does he fumble?

This is nuts. So people build a house on land they don’t own? Theoretically, couldn’t the land holder just exponentially increase the rent every year? What is someone going to do, move their house?

Well, of course you would. I would expect any of us  fans to do the same. It isn’t our money. The real question is, would the business of the Buffalo Bills make that financial decision.

In Florida, there are many developments where you buy a house but pay rent for the land. Because of this, the homes , many of which are manufactured homes, are generally pretty cheap.

Haha...you’re going there, huh?  You have been posting condescending remarks since the first one that I responded to. Pot meet kettle...;)

Listening to your back and forth with Logic, I have to say that you are the one with the nasty comments while he has been a gentleman. Shut it down before a Mod does.

I think they end up with two receivers in this draft, one in round two or three (I don't think they prioritize the position highly enough to warrant a first round pick) and one somewhere in the last couple rounds as well. I think Bryan Edwards is a real possibility. Looks like they've done a lot of homework on him. I haven't really dug in yet with the draft and whatnot this year but in trying to predict who the Bills would likely take just look for the guys who are team leaders or captains, are seniors or have three years of college ball under their belt, have positional versatility, and have high character. That be the McBeane player M.O.

Edwards may fall because of his broken foot. Would be nice if he fell to day 3 because of the injury.

...the beginning of the 1990 offseason (after the first SB loss).  At that time we knew the team was outstanding and poised for continued success.

Now, of course the current version of the Bills has not accomplished anything close to that team, but my confidence level going forward is the highest it has been since that time.  Solid management in place, a really good HC who is universally respected, financial health (i.e., salary cap), a roster littered with young talent, and resources to improve even further.

I don't see how anyone could look at the Bills' organization and not say the arrow is clearly pointing up.  I don't even care about the mock drafts -- Beane & Co. have proven to me they know what they're looking for.  If a player doesn't make it, it won't be because Beane didn't do his homework.  This is a very comforting feeling to have.

I can't possibly be alone in this sentiment?

I agree. There certainly seems to be an aura of professionalism with the Bills these days.

Buffalo got a LOT more physical on defense; started using LBs to batter Houston’s 4 WR set and throw off the timing of the R-A-S.

Offensively, Kenny Davis’ hard-nosed running style was a better matchup against a Houston defense that played nickel and dime to avoid big plays.

That, and a little bit of luck between the OS kick, the Beebe play, and Montgomery muffing a FG snap.

I agree about the Bills getting more physical. I seem to remember that in the 2nd half the Bills went to their base D instead of using 5-6 DBs, which was common against the " Run & Shoot". It changed the game.

Not sure why they’d be comfortable with Roberts other then when he is returning punts. Guy is useless as a receiver.

McKenzie makes a solid 5 option, and I like Duke as the 6th.

They need a #1 and a high developmental guy via the draft.

It's possible that whoever they sign or draft could also be a punt & kick returner. Also, it looks like the new agreement with the players union calls for 2 more game day slots.

I just don't see us bringing in 3 relevant WR's.  Sure, more will get added for camp bodies, but I am talking guys who legit are competing for a spot.  I really think its going to be 2 at most and then they will look at TE, RB, and OL to help bolster the rest of the offense.

At the end of the day, 3 WRs are near roster locks in Smoke, Cole, and Roberts (who just made another Pro Bowl as a KR).  They aren't trying to go 7 WRs on the active roster come week 1.  So they really are looking for a starter next to Smoke and Cole in either a top WR rookie prospect or an important trade (Diggs) or free agent signing (AJ Green).  Once they have which ever one of those, they will probably add another rookie in the draft too.  If they trade for Diggs, then that rookie likely wont come until day 3.  If they sign AJ, then I think they still go rookie WR in first 3 rounds given Greens age and injury history.  And if they elect to address WR only in draft, I think its a near lock to go WR in first 2 rounds and then maybe another one on day 3.

I doubt they add 3 premium WR's.  They still have guys like Foster, McKenzie, Duke and they seem to like Nick Easley's potential too to battle for the 5th WR spot.

For me, our WR room is going to look like one of 3 ways come camp (besides the camp body types)

    1. Diggs, Brown, Cole, and Roberts with spots locked down...with Foster, McKenzie, Duke, and maybe either Easley or a day 3 drafted rookie.
    2. AJ Green, Brown, Cole, high profile rookie taken in first 3 rounds, Roberts, and then the other guys battling to try and justify to keep a 6th guy.
    3. Brown, Rookie (from 1st/2nd round), Cole, Roberts and then maybe a 2nd rookie along with Foster, McKenzie, Duke, and maybe Easley battling for the final spot.

Has anyone noticed the play of Cam Philips in the XFL?

Dak's a quality QB, but not upper echelon. I have many friends that are Cowboys fans. The knock on him according to those friends is missing the open man on the intermediate to deep throws, especially in crunch time, and seemingly disappearing when the team needs him to throw them on his back. He's not a bad QB, but he's not a $35,000,000-$40,000,000 a year QB either.

This. I know that the Cap is going up.

He is good but no better than lots of other mid tier QB's. Dallas could have thrown Trubisky in there & their record wouldn't have been much different.

Anyone who has viewed Allen objectively understands that he has made meaningful strides and is clearly trending higher.  We aren't talking about a miniscule improvement either, it was a pretty big step forward.   And knowing Allen and his eagerness to learn and improve, his great selfless attitude, intelligence and out-of-this-world physical tools, you'd have to be a very foolish person to not believe that he is going to take another big step forward next year.

He's going to be borderline Pro bowl level.  Take it to the bank.

I agree. The pre snap reads will come with time. What he has to improve on right away is the 20-40 yard throws to open receivers. What a difference this would make for the Bill's offense. He has a tendency to overthrow these.

Again, that’s assuming Miami is targeting a QB at two. If Miami rates the next two QBs after Burrow evenly, they can just stay at five and get one and not have to spend any of their assets to do so.

You're right that they can just stay at 5 & get their QB, but only if another team doesn't jump them. And you are right - I am assuming that Miami is targeting a QB.

good.  Cooper has been a disappointment, IMHO, and will be overpaid for what he produces.  I'd rather have a rookie, and someone who will cost less like AJ Green.

He is no better than John Brown. Dallas will overpay him and he will remain good but not great. The Bills should get their WR in the draft & fill other holes in both the draft & free agency.
