  1. I get both sides of the big deal/no big deal discussion. But I can't shake the fact that he posted a video of himself smoking anything at all, regardless of what it is. it just sends the wrong message.

Really I don't think it's even slightly dumb. I'm not into hookah but it's incredibly common in young crowds these days. Really the definition of no big deal.

I think the same thing was said about cocain at one point. Not comparing them, but just because the cool kids are doing it doesn't make it right.

  2. brick of coal on the top. He's good.

Is that code for smoking weed? Lol. Seriously though, I know it's probably fine, but at first glance it looks like he's getting high watching the basketball game. Seems like a risky FB post to me.

  3.

The original idea of 30 for 30 (or so I thought) was to tell stories that hadn't been widely told or had largely been forgotten. That's part of what makes so many of them so good. Now they're doing stories everyone already knows. The worst example of course is the one they did on the Yankees-Red Sox series (gee, why does the media and especially ESPN ignore that rivalry??).

Of course I'll watch it, but I doubt there's much I'll take away from a rehash of those Bills teams.

If you're in your late 20's or younger, you have little to no recollection of the Bills run. And, nationally, people older than that don't know nearly as much about that team as we do.

  4. It sounds kinda crazy, but honestly I'd love it! The Bills have built this team to win NOW. Why not see if he has one more year in him?!! IMO, the only reason not to is if they've seen something in EJ this off-season that make them believe he's the guy.

  5. Coaching is important. We all get it. But only, say 10% of what is important to find a franchise QB. 90% of it is the QB himself, his skills and his drive and his line and his experience and his receivers. Pete Carroll and Darrel Bevel would not make Russell Wilson out of Geno Smith.

Chances are extremely high that Greg Roman and David Lee, for all intents and purposes, would have made Russell Wilson into Russell Wilson, and Pete Carroll and Darrel Bevel would have made Geno Smith into Geno Smith.

This. The whole idea of "developing a QB" doesn't really exist at the pro level. They either have it or they don't. That's it.

  6. I'm scared - Sully is on-board with the move

Even better he advocates first for Shanny - I can only see the "Pegula's failed by hiring a retread!" after he loses a game or two! :D

    From that article:

"He went to Oakland as offensive coordinator in 2010. That season, the Raiders scored 410 points, more than TWICE as many as the year before and 90 points higher than in any season since the 2002 team with Rich Gannon at quarterback."

    In.

  7.

All bc of Hue, got it.

So everyone wants the guy who has proved to be average...thought we were all tired of those type of guys.

I feel like Im in the twilight zone reading some of this.

The guy had nothing to work with. Again, he made lemonade out of lemons. Send the best three coaches in the league to, say, the Bucs, but it won't help Tampa make the playoffs. They need players. And we have them, at least on DEF. A good head coach can get the most out of the talent he has. IMO, Jackson wold get the most out of this team.

  8. Just gonna say that.

Somewhere, someone is saying "9-7 with the Bills. Dude can coach. Period."

Good for those people. But clearly the Raiders didn't have the DEF we have. Based on what happened to the Raiders after he left, it's clear he was making lemonade out of lemons. With our current DEF, almost any coach can go 8-8 with Buffalo right now.

  9. I really enjoy all the overreactions and nit-picking analysis on TSW. Good grief guys. Highlights:

"Marrone is smug". WHO CARES. I can name a successful coach who's pretty darn smug.

"Russ is smiling". PLEASE. This doesn't matter at all.

And all the criticism over Whaley's response to the analytics question? Those are some of the best comments. All teams use analytics, most likely use them differently and none will ever tell the fans or media how they use them. It's absolutely proprietory, and for all we know analytics could be why we overachieved at times this year.

    You guys make me laugh.

  10. as i hope you are aware, jinxing isnt a real thing - there is no such thing as magic.

there is a 90% chance the bills 2015 draft pick is between the 5 pick and 19 pick, in which case we would almost certainly have missed out on any elite QB prospects anyway (mariota, winston, and whoever else the scouts crown at the QB position in 2015 will almost certainly be gone by pick 5).

    What?!!!

  11. Kelly might join Galisano's bid

I'm willing to go on record and place my bet on TG/JK winning this thing... or at least they'll make it closer than many think. My theory: The plan all along was to sell to TG, at least for those members of the trust who want to keep the team in Buffalo. If the reports are true, that TG didn't place that initial bid on time... well, that was by design. Wait to hear from those in the trust where the bids came in, jump in with a late bid just above the others to save the team, and be the savior. It also looks like TG is the last bidder to meet with the Trust. Also by design. When the trust/family members interested in keeping the team in Buffalo planned this out, they had no idea El Pegs would come in with such a strong offer. Which is great... except that some of these folks have been around the team for a LONG time and probably feel very loyal to JK. Which is why some of them are trying to get him in the mix here. Wherever JK lands is who's going to get this team.

  12. Worried about the Chicago offense in the opener. When Cutler is healthy (which is a rarity) he can kill a defense. It was nice to see that the Lions under Schwartz swept them last year. In the second game, Jay was playing injured and got worse as the game went on, but he was healthy for their first meeting and Detroit forced 4 turnovers which was the difference in the game. Hope to see the same thing happen again in the opener.

Not sure if a grass field on the road is an optimal way to open the season but it's nice to know we have a DC that thoroughly understands our opponent.

Any guesses on what the spread will be in that game? I would say Bears favored by 2 on a neutral field, plus 3 more for home field. Will be a nice locker room speech afterwards when we pull out the win.

Thinking this will be a +6 game.

  13. Again, another ignorant local media story that makes statements about the value of the team based on geography. It misses the point about the value in a cash vs. financing deal. If a bidder is borrowing money, they actually pay MORE than the final bid because of interest, just like any of us buying a house. So hypothetically, a $1B bid with interest financing might be the same as a bid of $1.3B with no financing. So in Tiny Tim's mind, TG would be overpaying when in reality, with interest, the actual prices are the same. That's what happens when sports scribes with no finance skills report on big business. But as I stated in a post above, the trust gets more cash in Pegula's bid whereas the bank gets money in the borrower's bid.

    Stayin.

While mathematically true, it's actually the opposite. While the interest would cost them more, it's not like these guys are sitting around with their money in a .01% money market account. They would use the money they're NOT spending on the team - and instead financing - and do other things with it that would likely earn them more the rate they're paying on the team loan. So from a net worth standpoint, you'd want to finance as much as possible, and I'm guessing owners finance as much as they can.

  14. So what's the net result of these potential NDA violations? Since the trust is running the show, will they decide whether to disqualify or let it slide?

It would be pretty sh*tty of them to require everyone to sign this "10 out of 10" restrictive NDA and then not hold anyone accountable when they start blabbing in the press with artfully crafted BS.

I know we've got some posters with GEDs in Law, would love to hear thoughts.

I sign these pretty often. It's really about protecting the financial asset you're reviewing and isn't really included as a 'gotcha!' sort of thing. My guess: nothing happens. It's still about maximizing the value for the trust. If the Bills were a public entity, then this stuff would matter. But bottom line... if one of these groups that have violated the NDA steps up with a huge offer of some kind, the NDA violations to date will not prevent the trust from selling to them. The losing bidder may sue, but that's not likely.
