  1. true that.

what brought this up 2 years later may I ask?

    also reminiscing

Jim Richter and John Fina were also "unsung heroes" quietly getting the job done

Might be something to do with the Bill Polian Hall of Fame article in the Buffalo News. He states that Hull and Tasker both deserve to be in the hall too.

  2. Oh I know but that is a gamble they would take after talking with him. If he wasn't going to sign to their PS they probably wouldn't want him anyway. It's really a strange situation after drafting Robinson and then 4 more and then Battle. At least one of the tackles is playing OG now. They probably have Battle rated significantly higher than the #6 T they took so he might be the guy they cut and put on the PS.

I'm just saying I doubt a team would sign him to their 53 without having a chance to see what he can do.

Totally agree on that one....especially since not many spare OL are kept on the 53 in the first place..

  3. He would have to pass through waivers. But teams aren't likely to open a 53 roster spot for him if he was released. It's possible but they would likely take that risk. Especially because they already drafted three tackles.

This would be a gamble as they would allow the other teams to put a waiver claim on him and if he passed through that portion he would be essentially a Rookie Free Agent and allowed to sign on any team's practice squad...

But still surprised they invested a pick (even if it was a 5th) on another OL after drafting 4 this past year.

  4.

I'm not so sure that's what the story/this thread is talking about.

Was just using it as an example.

My personal opinion of the situation was money exchanged hands to provide some type of advertisement. However, I do not believe the Flag Unveiling and Salute to Troops was what the money for. I feel it was for the advertisements in and around the stadium and the participation in the Coaches honoring.

Reasoning behind my beliefs is that I find it hard a few teams collected money and others did not when they all were participating in the Flag Unveiling and Salute to Troops portion.

  5. This whole "Breaking Story" had me laughing from day one.

From my understanding, this money was spent on Sponsorships. This had nothing to do with "Honoring Vets" or "Salute to Soldiers".

Just with any other company, sponsorship money came with advertisements. Verizon, Bud Light, etc all do it. They pay money, their name/logo gets blasted.

I felt this was the case with the National Guard and now found an old article that talked about a true "Sponsorship".

This just talks about 1 little portion, but I can safely assume there were similar deals to cover the other money for advertisement portions. This deal in 2011 (Ironically we got $29k from Air Force and spent at least $22k on the 11 week program to coaches) probably led to similar and larger types of advertisement deals/partnerships.

Target/Objectives/Key Activations: The U.S. Air Force has significantly reduced its sponsorship portfolio over the past few years, dropping ties with the Professional Drifting Championship Series, Professional Bull Riders and other properties. Despite the cutbacks, the Air Force continues to ink new deals. The military branch in Sept. 2011 announced a new partnership with the NFL Buffalo Bills, a deal that afforded signage in Ralph Wilson Stadium and presence on www.BuffaloBills.com.

    Buffalo Bills

Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard

The Army National Guard serves as the Bills' "Salute to Service" game-day sponsor. The pregame ceremony will feature 150 guardsmen unfurling a full-field flag as 50,000 seated fans present a stadium-wide thank you message to the troops with placards. During halftime, the National Guard will also take part in an oath re-affirmation ceremony.

All this has been mentioned in the past, however no one decided to put 2 and 2 together until the Financial numbers were released..

When something is a sponsor, money changes hands...

  6. Per ESPN Article:

"While I respect the independent process of the investigation, the time, effort and resources expended to reach this conclusion are incomprehensible to me," Patriots CEO Robert Kraft said. "Knowing that there is no real recourse available, fighting the league and extending this debate would prove to be futile. We understand and greatly respect the responsibility of being one of 32 in this league and, on that basis, we will accept the findings of the report and take the appropriate actions based on those findings as well as any discipline levied by the league."

Translation: Ok, Ok, you caught us...but you cant do nothing about it..we already won the Super Bowl....

Amazing..I hope they hit the franchise up in the penalties too.

  7. I hate to throw cold water on this whole thing, but I think the Bills, and every other team, need to proceed slowly and with extreme caution.

The facts, as I understand them, are that the girl becomes pregnant and tells Collins that the baby might be his. He ends contact with her. Then, just days before he is set to get drafted in the 1st Rd and become an overnight multimillionaire, she answers a knock on her front door and is shot multiple times in the torso.

She dies and later the baby dies also. Collins has an alibi that he is an hour away at a Pelicans NBA game.Does not mean that he didn't pay to have her shot.

Now Occum's Razor would suggest that the guy that would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in child support each year for 21 years is the most likely suspect for a murder that surely seems to have targeted the unborn child. It seems quite possible that Collins is the new Rae Carruth.

Now, I hope he is innocent and the police completely put him in the clear, but until that happens I can't let myself start to dream on how he may solidify our line.

    Agree or disagree?

    So true...so true...

    100% agree.

However, I still hope they sign him with a big caveat that if he is found to play a role in this that he forfeits any guaranteed money/contract terms.

  8. Hmmmmm, Maybe I am wrong but I thought even Franchise tagged players can still seek out a new deal with another team? Even if they sign the tag deal with their team?

I need to look this up more so I admit there may be this one piece I am missing. If true, a player CAN simply be released with no guarantee if they do not sign their tag contract

but if they sign they can no longer seek out a new deal elsewhere.

What usually happens is that the team verbally agree on a multi-year framework. Player signs the tender, and then in a month or two agree to the new multiyear contract. By doing this, it frees up the Transition Tag to be used by the team the next year. If they match a multiyear deal or agree to a multiyear deal while player is tagged, then they lose that tag for the remainder of the contract.

  9. Wrong thread.

I think it means that guy doesn't know what the heck he's talking about.

    Beerball,

Maybe he means that Miami is hoping that Buffalo/Cleveland signs him to an offer sheet, and then Miami could trade him to the other team which will in turn match the offer sheet.

Not sure if this is possible, can a player be traded after they sign an offer sheet and the original team is within their 5 day window?

I know he is eligible to be traded right now, IE Peerless Price...but not sure on the point after the offer sheet is signed.

  10. I'm not suggesting why it won't go through, seems most people are pretty sure it is going through.. just curious what's going on in addition to the Kiko - McCoy swap... whether it's contract, or are there picks involved, etc.

I read that this trade is pending Kiko passing a Philly physical.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Kiko ending the year on IR/PUP and he technically cant be traded until the new league year due to CBA or something. (Purely my speculation)
