  1. I don't think there is any question he is a mercenary. This is a one year experiment. Even if all goes well and they finish 9-7 or even 10-6. I don't think he'll be back....but it will at least show the team that Evans is better suited as a number 2 guy and we need a stud #1 to make the offense go. Then you go after Boldin or Colston or the like.

  2. I don't think it's a gimmick per se. Just a way to compensate for other flaws and hopefully give them a slight advantage. I think they will still use alot of the play clock like the Colts do, but come to the line and keep the defensive personel from changing.

  3. Funny correlation to this thread...I have been playing Madden 10 and for the first 4 games the offense was lighting it up through the air. TO was getting open and Evans and Reed were unstopable. Then in game 5, TO breaks his shoulder blade and is out for the year. The rest of the season the offense struggles, I signed Matt Jones, but he stinks, Evans can't get open and Reed in the slot is the only bright spot.

Coincidence? I think not. I really believe a healthy Owens make the offense alot better.

And take it easy on the O line, they may take some time to gel, but I think they are a better overall unit than last year and will be fine by the time the season starts and should get better each game if they are healthy.

  4. It's heresy to even mention Trentative Checkwards (love that) and Jim Kelly in the same sentence...BUT...in the Cleveland Monday-nighter a year ago, TE had a horrible first half (3 picks?) yet led the team downfield in the 4th quarter and put them in position to win. I think he bounced back well and showed confidence in that situation.

I don't know what to make of Edwards right now. I want to see some swagger; I just read his comments directed at Sully as evidence of a little bit of frustration bubbling to the surface, and perhaps a realization that he needs to take control.

Fair enough, I hope he is getting frustrated and will take control. I've been an Edwards fan and I think he has it in him. He led some nice wins at the beginning of last year and threw with confidence (I know, poor competition, but still, NFL teams). I just hope he can get back there. I see TO is out of the lineup this weekend again.....doesn't look like we will see him til the 14th.

  5. I do want our QB playing with a chip on his shoulder....just not a whiney, leave me alone, I'm trying my hardest chip. The QB should play with a swagger, with confidence to fit the ball into a tight spot 15-20 yards down field. If it gets picked, do it better the next time. I remember a Monday night game against Cincy, where Kelly through 3 ints in the 1st quarter and then 4 or 5 TD's and the Bills won in a blowout. Thats a quarterback with confidence.

  6. Byrd has football in his blood, I'm guessing he is a student of the game and has been working on the playbook. I'm not sure why someone would bash a guy that wants to work on the muscle groups that control his quickness and speed....two attributes that would seem important for a defensive back. He is ahead of Maybin in that he has been with the team through training camp, in the meetings and watching practice, while Maybin is nowhere to be found.

  7. Not sure about my sleeves...I didn't see a choice. I guess they are regular, they come down to my elbow. They are hemmed at the end though, they come in a bit. Hope that helps. Make sure to check out the ratings of the seller you use. The one I just used was nflzone, 1 week from order to delivery to Denver, got everything right, including the fact that I asked for 2 in size 52 and 1 in size 50.

  8. I just got my Edwards on Saturday. I am 6' 0" and 200 lbs.....I got the 52 and it is fine, it fits baggy but not ridiculous. As far as DH gate goes, they are really nice. I have a TO in the throwback blue and now Edwards in the White. Everything is sewn on and heavy duty. I am very pleased, especially for the price. PTR, if you are going to buy, get a couple more people so you can get the free shipping. I got 3 of the TE jerseys for $75 total.

  9. Called this morning and it worked out great. I also just got the $10 off per month, but SF for free too. I happy with that. When the rep saw that I've have the Ticket since 2000 he was quick to reduce the cost. Maybe I could have kept haggling to get the $20 off per month, but it's all good. I'll have to see if they will budge on the hockey in a month or so. Great advice everyone and good luck if you are still trying.

  10. It's hard to give an answer, as they both were great. I think discounting Bruce's teammates is a bit short sighted too. While he didn't have the same quality on the line, teams had to account for the pass rushing of Biscuit and Paup at all times. Not sure White had those quality LB's. What stands out for me with Bruce is that he got his sacks when it mattered. 3rd and 5, up by 2 in the 4th quarter. Sacks that took teams out of field goal range. It seemed like you could always count on him at crunch time. I didn't watch enough White games to know if he was the same.

  11. I think the franchise tag is the worst idea yet. TO is playing this year for 1 more contract of 3 or so years. If we franchise him he will pout and sulk all year. Let him play this year and then move on. That was the beauty of the deal in the first place. He can't keep up the pace forever. Even a marvel like Marvin Harrison has fallen off. Even if he starts off well, it's the old dating a stripper analogy. It may seem amazing in the beginning, but you have to resist the temptation to lock it up long term (engagement) because you know it will end badly at some point.

I also really hope that Reed is the #3, and not Parrish. I've posted before that I think Reed will be a huge part of the offense this year.

  12. To be honest, I doubt Denver will do better than a 2nd for Marshall. The guy is talented soon, but he is injury prone and 1 more arrest (could be any day) away from missing multiple games. The guy could be out of the league within a few years if he isn't careful. Plus he wants a new deal, thats a pretty risky player to give up too much for.
