  1. Flawed logic. The Bills' FO also brought in Coles before TO. Does that also mean they'd rather have Coles as the second WR? No, it just means they brought in FAs as they were available. The fact that they didn't offer Taylor "an offer he couldn't refuse" says more to how they valued him than when they brought him in.

Yes, I firmly believe they would have rather had Coles. $6.5 million for a guy nobody else wanted. Sorry to say, your front office is a joke. When TO got that offer I bet his response was, "$6.5 million??????? Are they serious??????? I guess I'll go anywhere for that. I don't know what I have to do to make all 32 teams not want me." $6.5 million for an aging, skills declining cancer. There is a zero % chance this works. I'll bet TO is inactive for the last few games of the season. No O Line and a sub-mediocre QB throwing to him? Yes, this is going to end well. LOL!!!

  2. Well that's false - Maybin was regarded as having the fastest first step among DEs, but you can swing that however you want. You've been spewing non-stop bull sh-- for weeks, why stop now? And his name is Orakpo. If you're going to have resounding support for non-Bills players, at least spell their name right.

If his 1st step is that fast, the rest must be pretty damn slow, because a 4.89 40 for a 240 lb man is not that "explosive". It's not that I have a lot of support for Orakpo, it's that I think he is a much better player. He was one of the best players in the country (actually voted the best defensive player in the country) in one of the best conferences in the country. Maybin racked up some sacks in one of the worst passing conferences in the country. I just think Orakpo does everything better than Maybin, played against far better competition and is going to be a much better player in the NFL.

  3. What he was referencing was all-purpose yards, in that Rhodes can catch out of the back field, which has never been Taylor's strong suit. He is correct about that, as Rhodes had about 190 more all purpose yards and an absolute ton more TD's (like 9 to 1 IIRC). Rhodes didn't play in one game last year (the last)--Taylor in the last 3. Rhodes is also 3 years younger--Taylor is a one-year fix at age 33. I won't argue that Taylor career-wise is the better back--that's obvious. However, for the roles being asked by Buffalo--2nd-3rd back, with potential use on 3rd down--I'd honestly take Rhodes over Taylor at this point in their careers, but that's just me.....

Are you saying Rhodes is more than a 1 yr fix. Like I said before, your own front office would have preferred to get Taylor. Rhodes was what was left over. Over the last 4 yrs Fred Taylor has averaged almost 4.7 yds/carry while Mr Rhodes is about 3.5. As for third down, he was sent packing by the Colts because he isn't willing to stand in and block, which is something third down backs should be able to do. This is another Fred Taylor strength. The only people who would take a guy like Rhodes over Fred Taylor, right now in their careers, are in this forum. It's no wonder why this team is tied for the longest playoff drought in the NFL. Rhodes over Taylor, you've got to be kidding.

  4. I do not put anything into OTAs, but I think this will be a continual theme this preseason. The guy just is not that explosive, and if you combine that with his inability to hold up against the run, it's not good. The guy played in a terrible passing conference and racked up some meaningless sacks, ala Gholston. He's just not that good. Should have taken Orakbo. I'm guessing that will be something you hear all season, because I really think Orakbo is going to be a solid player.

  5. Great analysis on why Taylor is better than Rhodes.

I'm shocked you didn't suggest that both Galloway and Greg Lewis were better individual signings than TO.

Taylor is not going to be asked to carry the ball more than 10-12 times a game. I would guess neither is Rhodes. To say you would rather have Rhodes over Tayor in that role is insanity, and I bet if you search the internet outside of Buffalo, you won't find a single respected analyst that puts the Rhodes signing ahead of Taylor. As a matter of fact, your own front office tried to sign Taylor before Rhodes. Rhodes was a consolation prize because you didn't get Taylor. And if he is such a good backup, why would the Colts take a RB in the 1st round when they already have a starter and they could resign Rhodes cheap. There is a reason he is now bouncing around the league.

By the way Taylor had more yards than Rhodes last year, despite playing in fewer games, having less carries and playing in one of the worst passing offenses in the league. At no point in their careers has Rhodes been a better player than Taylor, including now.

  6. I agree with your posting completely. I would rather have TO and Rhodes over the other backs and wide receivers we brought in this year, no question about it. I know it will give some posters on this site angina to admit the FO is doing a good job. But lets give them credit for this year spectacular off season.

You would rather have Rhodes over Fred Taylor???? I have heard it all now. That could be the most pathetic/homer thing I have heard on this board.

  7. This guy is doing what most free agents who visit the Bills do, looking for another option. Buffalo is not a place free agents want to go unless there is no other option or the Bills overpay.

In my opinion, the Bills have enough undersized guys in there front 7. I do not believe he would be much of an improvement at all. Reports say he played last season at around 225lbs. I don't think racking up some tackles on a terrible defense means anything.

  8. Not for nothing, and I don't want to mess with TBD's newfound love for TO, but this is an often repeated "fact" that means nothing. If you bothered to look, you would notice that after each trade, TO was kept quiet ONLY by a steady diet of passes and, specifically, TD passes. Once he settled into his new team's offense after the first year, and once the passing game no longer focused on him and his needs, he began calling out, loudly, his teammates and coaches. If you guys are sure that TE will be able to give TO what he has demanded (and gotten) from McNabb and Romo this year, he may keep quiet.

Honestly, where were you guys on TO last year? Were any one of you saying, "geez, is it even possible TO would be available net year?" Or how about 2 weeks before we picked him up?

TO isn't about winning--never has been. He is about personal glory and padding his stats. If this was not true, he would still be in Philly or Dallas.

Agreed. But I feel the #1 reason he was kept in check was because he was going to franchises that were already very successful. When he didn't put them "over the top" as expected, he starts to throw everybody around him under the bus. I know I get a lot of grief on this board, but I really feel this situation is going to get ugly quickly. As soon as the Bills lose a few games in a row, you're going to get the typical TO press conferences. You know, the ones where he tells the reporters to check the film, he's open on every play. They're just not getting him the ball. There's only so much he can do. The QB prefers Player X over him. He can't throw the ball to himself. His QB is out of shape, puking in the huddle. This is the stuff Bills fans can expect to hear from this guy. This is the first time TO is going to a bad football team, and I see this situation getting worse as the season goes on. Seriously, if the Bills are out of playoff contention in Nov-Dec, how do you think he is going to act?

  9. You, sir, are a joke. Haven't you read ANY of this thread? "Nothing of substance to attack"? Is that a f-ing joke? Being caught red-handed cheating (after being warned only two months earlier by the League of the EXACT SAME THING YOU GOT CAUGHT DOING) is more than a little "substance", don't you think? We don't even have to go into any of the shady officiating in your games (and believe me, that's one you don't want to start on this board or, frankly, any other in the League as a Pats* fan) or the fact that you've had a bunch of well past their prime players suddenly regain a step well into their 30s in New England and, oh yeah, a guy who got caught using HGH in the only way possible the League could catch you, since they don't test for it. Being dumb enough to use your own name in ordering the stuff. It's also funny that many of those guys who people suspect of using it (Seau, Vrabel and Bruschi all come to mind) all have melons that are so large that they have their own gravitational fields (another sign called the "bloat" of HGF and steroid use, BTW). You really do live in your own Bizarro World alternate universe, don't you. I've also got some news for you that if you think it's just "jealous Bills fans" that have this view of "your team", and I use that loosely, I challenge you to go to other team's boards, where you'll find the fans all hold you in about the same opinion that folks in this thread do...

The title of this thread tell you all you need to know about where the Bills and Pats stand. You could go to every other board in the NFL and I'll bet you won't see a "Is Dick Jauron really that good" thread. Yet, here you guys are tring to figure out why the Pats continue to manhandle your team game after game. Shady officiating is about the worst, playground-like excuse I have ever heard. The reason is simple... Better ownership, better coaching and better players. There you go. It's not any more complicated than that. By the way, the only guy on your team that is a decent run stuffer (Stroud) has been busted with steroids.

  10. I think you are underestimating how devastating our offense is going to be. This group is going to be fun to watch, and very difficult to defend. Offensively it isn't even close, we dominate. If our defense plays even as mediocre as last year, we should beat these two teams twice.

I think you're underestimating how bad your OL is going to be and I think you overestimate your QB. He hasn't proven to be anything other than avg.

  11. Really, who was it before 2001? The 'Pokes? Maybe the Giants? We all know for sure it wasn't the Pats* you rooted for before they began winning.

That's the part I "love" the best about the New England fanbase--how almost none of them were there in 1992 when they sold 19,000 season tickets. That's right, 19,000, in a city 5 times the size of Buffalo. The Bills could go 0-16 and still sell twice that many. Pat*hetic if you ask me, but that best sums up their "fanbase". You go on a Pats* board and see all these posters from all over the country and you just know that they are almost all bandwagonistas, with a slight sprinkling of real Boston fans (who I can commiserate with and respect.) I also remember the absolutely hysterical threads last fall when Bills fans were winning shot bets in bars with Pats* "fans" about Pats* trivia that these "fans" couldn't get about their own team, yet anyone with any football knowledge would get. Like "fans" who literally didn't realize that the Pats* had lost two SB before they'd won any (funny, AFCEastFan isn't it, that your team doesn't actually have a winning record in the big game, unlike, say, the Steelers or Colts or Niners) or who couldn't name their starting QB in that Bears loss, yet Bills fans knew the answers to all those questions. Pat*hetic......

I understand your frustration, I really do. You don't have anything of substance to attack so you attack "bandwagonistas". By the way, the result of the bad attendance # you provided was a change in ownership which led to the dynasty the Patriots currently have. If you Bills fans want to continue to reward sub-mediocrity, you're going to always have it. You have the 2nd worst run team in the league, and the product on the field reflects this. A bunch of avg players on the field combined with a below avg coaching staff = the Buffalo Bills. Unless ownership changes, the Bills are going to continue to be a meaningless franchise that can't bring in quality free agents unless the players have no other options (TO) or they overpay like crazy for them (Dockery, Walker).

  12. I think that the Bills are the 4th best team in the Division until they prove that they are not. The Bills have Personnel weakneses at LB and OL. They will rely on Rookies and existing veterans (some of whom did not get it done last year) to fill those positons. Maybe the Rookies will rise to the task this year but history says they will not be ready yet.

The Glaring problem areas are LB where they are relying on unproven and backup players some of whom are returning from injury. OL is unproven although the interior was addressed in the draft. At LB the coaches have a huge challenge in getting this unit ready to play. They are asking a lot of second day draft picks and undrafted free Agents. There is a lack of veteran talent in both of these area.

You have to run the ball and stop the run to win in this division. I think we will be able to run. I do not think we will be able to stop the run with the talent that exists today on this team.

At OL the front office gets a bye , there is no one out there that is ready to play. Al LB the front office has more work to do

If this team cannot stop the run I am not going to lay all the blame on coaching. They need more run stoppers.

This is the most unbiased and realistic post I have read on this board.

  13. Considering he's 28 yrs old, has under 900 career rushng yds and 3 total TDs, I'll go with JAG (since this created confusion last time, Just Another Guy). What about, Insignificant? Or better yet, FredEx. Nevermind, can't use that one. It was already taken by another nobody that actually had more production than Fred frickin Jackson has had. The Bills fan hits just keep coming. Now we're nicknaming backup RBs, the least important position on a football team. Good stuff.

  14. I've got a deal for you, pal--you can go back to being a Cowboys fan, no questions asked, once the Pats*' winning seasons end (I'd estimate about 1-2 more years) and I'll go back to watching for the umpteenth time the Giants absolutely hammer your team in the SB last year--I especially love the parts where Brady gets planted on his arse by a rookie D-lineman at the end and BB goes crying off the field......

Yet another example of what a pathetic state the Bills are in. You have to use examples from another team because you really have nothing from your own. I keep seeing these posts about, "I can't wait to see the Pats fall back to reality!". The nice thing about my position is I don't have to wait to see the Bills fall back to reality. The reality of the Buffalo Bills is they are a horribly run franchise, with a bad coaching staff, with minimal talent and seemingly headed nowhere. Don't worry though, I'm sure there will another team this year that will beat he Patriots that you can root for. It just won't be the Bills. Look on the bright side, the Bills have Fred frickin Jackson!!!! He's good for three wins this year at least!

  15. Funny how that journeyman ran for about 130 yards against your mighty D last year in December when you knew he was coming and couldn't do anything to stop him. What does that say about your D? We lost that game, but it certainly had nothing to do with Fred Jackson's running.....

He had a good game. No doubt about it. That does not make him anything. Is Ben Jarvis Green Ellis a stud because he ran for 100 against the Bills. No. He peobably won't make the team this year. It's just funny how much excitement is generated by anyone signing with the Bills, including journeyman backup RBs. Is it just shock because you know the only players that sign for the Bills are those with no other options or those you drafted? Since that is probably the case, I do understand your excitement.

I'm sure BB and the staff are already trying to come up with some magical defensive game plan to stop the mighty Fred Jackson. Either that or they don't give a crap about Fred Jackson because the Bills scored exactly zero points in that game.

  16. Typical NE* bandwagon fool - last I looked, the Cheatriettes* haven't won a Superbowl in 5 years - time to become a Celtics fan, troll.

As a fan of a team that is currently tied with Detroit for the longest playoff drought in the NFL, I hope you know how stupid you sound when you say that. "haven't won a Superbowl in 5 years"???? You're right, Patriots fans should only hope their team can reach the level of success the Bills have achieved. Considering the Bills have been completely dominated by the Pats, and the Bills appear to be going nowhere, you should probably just reserve your commentary for teams at the Bills level, like the team you're currently tied with for the longest playoff drought in the NFL. You really humiliate yourself when you make comments like "haven't won a Superbowl in 5 years".

  17. Jeezus, are you done blowin' the guy yet?

We'll see if you P-Town queers really believe all that crap after the Cheatriettes* go 8-8 this season.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You guys dedicate multiple threads to the resigning of a 28 yr old, journeyman backup RB. At least my post is talking about one of the best coaches of all time. The excitement surrounding the resigning of Fred Jackson tells you what a pathetic state the bills are in. It really is funny to see the enthusiasm about the most insignificant events. The Bills lose an All Pro in Jason Peters, "Who cares, we don't need him". The Bills resign Fred frickin Jackson, "This offense is going to rival the K Gun of the early 90's". That tells you all you need to know about Bills fans.

  18. The guy racked up some tackles on a garbage defense. Who Cares? He's not quick, undersized and St. Louis frickin cut the guy. THey need all the defensive help they can get, and they had no use for him. All this guy will do is take up $$ that should be spent rebuilding the OL and DL

In my opinion, a better move would be to sign D Brooks for less $$, and have some of the younger LBs learn from him.

  19. I disagree - he was a mediocre head coach (36-44 in Cleveland) until he hitched his wagon to Bill Parcells. After carrying Parcells' jock...er, uh...I mean serving as an assistant to Bill Parcells for a few years, Belicheat* finally got another head coaching job in New England*, and even then went 5-11 his first season as Patriettes* HC. Then he started cheating, and the wins started coming.

And, while Belicheat* is part of Parcells' impressive NFL coaching tree, his own NFL coaching tree is far from impressive...

Eric Mangini - former Jets HC and current Browns HC – 23-25 record with Jets, missed playoffs in his last two years in NYC. Hired by the Browns, where he immediately earned the ire of...

    Mike Leach

Upon further review, is probably not a "Mangenius" as once thought.

Romeo Crennel - former Browns HC – 24-40 record with Browns. His horridness cannot be quantified, unless you count the money made on gambling against him.

Charlie Weis - Notre Dame HC – 29-21 record at Notre Dame, but only 10-15 in his last two seasons with his own recruits.

Nick Saban - former Dolphins head coach, current Alabama HC - was a disaster as Dolphins coach. (Saban is a great college coach, though, despite getting his ass kicked by Florida and Utah this year - way to ROLL in the big games, Nick.)

And the coming season doesn't look too promising in Denver for rookie HC Josh McDaniels, Belicheat's former OC, whose first big move as HC was to alienate starting QB Jay Cutler to the point where he demanded a trade. Good luck with Kyle Orton, Josh.

Debating if BB is a tremendous coach is utterly crazy. Every single analyst/player/opposing coach in the NFL says he is an elite coach and one of the best ever. John Lynch, after one preseason, stated he was the best coach he has ever been around. The reason BB did not have the success at Cleveland he has had in NE is because he did not have the complete and total control he was granted in NE. This is the same reason he picked the Pats over the Jets when he had that opportunity. Kraft offered him complete control. To paraphrase Bill Parcells, when BB was in Cleveland he was expected to prepare the meal without being able to select the groceries. Since he has had complete control over his team, BB is one of the best coaches of all time. Debating that is like debating if grass is green or the sky is blue. He is the best personnel guy, the best game plan guy and the best game day adjustment guy in the NFL.

  20. My guess is that you touched yourself a lot when you were a kid; and the reason being is no one else was willing to do so. If history backs me up, things aren't changing much for you any time soon...

Thank you very much for the post. Hard to take a slam from somebody that has Maurice Clarett as his/her picture. I have to admit, that's a strange crush you have there. You even have the mug shot, which makes easier for you to imagine spending time in prison with him. But if that's the way you roll, who am I to judge?
