  1. Thanks '86 and sorry for responding so snidely.

The unabashed kelsay love rubs me (and others on here) the wrong way. I can't "show love" to CK just because he isn't playing so horribly anymore. He transitioned from bad linebacker to mediocre defensive end, that is all. But defenders are right - he did play decent a lot yesterday. But that 3rd and long play was pivotal, and he missed ben.

Marcus Stroud has been roundly heckled here week after week too, but he had the same # of tackles and sacks as kelsay had yesterday. I don't see any "show stroud some love" threads yet.

agreed... other then filling a gap stroud has been mediocre at best... one solid positive I took from yesterday has been the play of the OLine... and did i hear correctly that Bell hasn't given up a sack this year???

  2. I unfairly directed most of the kelsay guff at you and apologize for that... your not one of the newbies spinning everything outa control as I may have just done a bit... havn't been paying attention to the poster lately... we both know kelsay is a backup... but he played like a starter yesterday... everyone is so fast to discredit a solid performance on just about anyone and everyone

  3. Sure as big as he is he's more difficult to tackle than an average sized QB would be, i suppose.

But to highlight that fact in this discussion just stinks of excuse-making, in my opinion. Getting to the quarterback is a big part of kelsay's duties on the field, isn't it? He's proven to be useless as a 34 OLB. End rusher is his game and he's much better at it than he was as a linebacker.

So kelsay doesn't make that sack on that down. Maybe big ben is that elusive. But watching that play live yesterday, kelsay didn't even disrupt roethlisberger; he used poor form and spun off him. Bad play, period

size may keep his center balanced a bit more then others but Ben's ability to be Houdini in the pocket is just natural instinct and knowing how to keep the rusher off balanced....

just by the way your trying to describe kelsay doing poorly makes it pretty clear you don't know much about "form". Kelsay played the mass majority of downs yesterday... and when the other team posses the ball for an entire half and then some... your technique has to change... the mere fact he was still motoring on the speed rush was proof enough to me ben had to worry about him which no matter way you put it helped keep the score down... let's face it they played Pittsburgh, arguably the most complete team in the NFL and you still want to nit pick a player who might have contributed the most on D(Kyle Williams was a beast all day IMO)...

i know i know it's not enough to win blah blah blahhhh... for once I would like to see reality on this board...everyone get's an opinion though right??? :wallbash:

  4. this play is chris kelsey's game in a nutshell. he's too slow to go outside and instead ends up 10yds behind on the qb (meanwhile not containing) and than gets pushed over again, and than trips over teammates that he can clearly see....... how is he in the nfl?

Kelsay played a great game for once... beating a dead horse man

  5. He leads the team in tackles because the Bills lead the league in allowing running backs to get to the third level without being touched, and the backs pretty much run right into our strong safety about 6-8 times a game. He played well last week and ok today. He doesn't have an interception, forced fumble, sack, or any other big play for that matter. Tight ends were scoring a touchdown a game against him for the first half of the season. But hey, he made a nice hit on a receiver today and batted a ball down last week. I guess that constitutes a good season around here.

oh my favorite.... Tight ends do well against our D and its automatically the SS's fault... you have no idea what coverages are called let alone the reads.... if you want to bash donte at least do it with fact and not opinion

  6. Congrats to Chan too...

However, this was his worst called game in the 2nd half...Could get nothing going on the repeated chances to put the game away....Defense continues to flounder against a bad Lions offense and gave up a 88 yard drive....Where is Spiller...It is amazing that a street FA Ganther got more carries then your top 10 pick.

uhhh spiller got hurt in the first half ... freddy got hurt and was out a series leaving only ganther so your point is pretty moot....but I understand what your saying about spiller it just doesn't work here

  7. Hell that's not a bad idea at all, seeing as how we can't run the ball for sh--. He was wide open deep last week if Fitz would've gave him a chance to catch it...woulda been a game winner.

Actually our run average is where you wnat it to be... the fact we have to play down every game limits the amount of carries....sooooo no

  8. That's back when Bill Walsh was at Stanford grooming those guys. Now a days Stanford cranks out NFL starts like Trent Edwards. There is no reason to think that a QB from Stanford now has anything to do with the stars coming out of the school when Walsh was there.

So one of the few College 1-A teams who actually run a pro style offense and are coached by a successful former NFL QB means Stanford suck at producing NFL Caliber players right?... put your foot in your mouth...Trent wasn't even coached by Harbaugh so wtf are you talking about

  9. Although I like the kid I have to agree with your point, I even said the same thing the other day. The question I've been asking for a couple of weeks now is can he throw the ball? Otherwise he will be Tebow2.

That he can... the huge difference here is Newton can throw the ball well... pro style arm and accuracy seems legit... this run first crap is starting to drive me nuts... yes they played an inferior team last saturday but thats all the guy did was sit back in the pocket... now in no way am I saying he will be a superstar QB...but assuming facts is annoying to me

  10. UH... get real. Ain't no wishbone offense in the NFL and no team that consistently gets in the mildcat formation for more than a dozen plays. Cam Newton is a running QB. After a few collisions with some NFL LBS and D lineman he will have no game at all.

Disagree big time... you can't call Newton just a running qb because he actually has a pro style arm and technique, unlike the tim tebow wind up... i'm not projecting him either way, but at least be informative instead of giving the typical "idk what i'm talking about but I saw him running on tv so he wont make it in the NFL"...

VY isn't the best but his record is a winning one... I just don't get how you can write someone off so soon without even knowing the potential and tools the player possesses

  11. I am completely baffled by everybody on this website. We are 0-6. The bills got their asses handed to them most games. They play one good game having to weeks to prepare against a team where most players probably did not prepare seriously assuming it would be a cake walk. Now everybody is in love with the team and the offense. They say that the defense sucks and we need defensive players. The same guys were decent last year even though they were on the field forever. We just have a bad and cheap DC. Our headcoach is good OC. End of story. Let's not talk pro-bowl. Not gonna happen.

You haven't been a member to this board for even a year yet and you want to speak up like you're an old-head... "Let's not talk pro-bowl" Why not? Because we don't have a win yet? That's total BS... last time I checked the PB is actually about the individual and not the team... How bout you contribute a better opinion next time instead of calling everyone kool aid chuggers... It baffles me when people get gutz on a message board and try to be little other members

  12. If you can't handle criticism, you shouldn't be a writer producing opinion pieces for the public to consume.

If you can't handle what happens on an Internet-based message board, you shouldn't post on one.

If you think that someone saying that the opinion pieces you write and produce for public consumption are bad and feel that is "attacking" you, you probably aren't cut out for that line of work.

Don't put yourself in the public eye if you can't handle people disagreeing with your opinions/style/work product. How this is rocket science is beyond me.

Agreed but not in this case... criticism is often valued to writers... what they were receiving was more then criticism... and I don't think it was any sweat off their backs to leave like everyone claims

  13. The thing is, he really is one of the problems, although most of it is not his fault.

Donte symbolizes many problems this team has, such as poor coaching (Jauron), idiotic management (Levy) and misguided priorities. Also, Mr. Wilson is there to make a profit first and foremost. The money he shelled out to Donte could have been used to pay a high quality player, which Whitner just is not.

There is no reason to be surprised when fans are frustrated watching a small, ineffective safety trying to cover a tight end when many players drafted at that slot actually produce.

He tries hard and I appreciate that, but his production is that of an average player.

That makes no sense...stats are production...and stats say he is a top 10 tackler period... OHHH THEEE RUNN DEFENSEEEE...gimmie a break

    Time to do some googling...

Fun way to call someone a RahTard

  14. that's too bad. always thought TG was a bit thin-skinned, but JW was a reasonable poster. oh well.

Thin skinned because he's a professional writer on a fan message board being attacked by a bunch of internet tough guys??? Now JW is gone who used to actually give some great info unlike the idiots who just bash everyone's opinion for being different from theirs...

  15. Watching Poz makes me yearn for the days when we had Fletcher and Spikes. If he doesn't resign for a very favorable deal for the Bills then good riddance. Overhyped and overrated. I think so many fell in love with Poz because hes a polish white dude playing MLB , bottom line.

Also had Pat Williams and Sam Adams at the DL and greg williams as the HC/DC.... bottom line you don't know what your talking about

  16. Aside from cutting Trent, can anyone name ONE positive move that the Bills Front Office has made in the past year?

I don't consider drafting Spiller a good move because

    a) we did not need a RB

    b) he has not contributed much this year

    c) even if he was best player available, we could have traded down and drafted a LB and OT.

Please stop with the "coulda" traded down talk... you have no idea if they could or couldn't and i'm gonna go with couldn't
