  1. I think it's less the quality of Walker than it is the quality of the decision making process that leads an organization to cut their starting left tackle a week before the season opener and in turn resign a guy they just cut three days ago. :wallbash:

Questioning how the FO could ever think that Walker was capable of being a NFL caliber LT in the first place is a fair criticism. I'm just confused how people can go suicidal over cutting Walker after his god-awful preseason.

  2. Wouldn't it be cool if someone put an expansion team in Dallas or Washington? Where there ticket prices were low and pizza was only $20. They would probably fail, but for a while the JJ and DS might lose some cash flow. <_<

Jerry Jones is looking at the rest of the NFL the same way Vince McMahon looked at the old wrestling territory system. He doesn't realize that he can't just poach all the best players from the small market teams and then independently tour the Dallas Cowboys 300 days a year.

Even some of the players with a secure employment have things to worry about. Most disconcertingly for the 49ers is the play of struggling cornerback Nate Clements, who played just one series but still found time to surrender a 39-yard touchdown pass to Kassim Osgood.

That was Clements' last play before the real thing. The 49ers open the regular season next week

against defending NFC champion Arizona and showstopping receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

"Nate knows he has to get better,'' Singletary said. "He has to be more detailed about what he's doing and be more consistent. We'll address that going forward."

  4. seems really random he singles out Buffalo like that.

Really. If it was anyone else in the NFL saying this I'd interpret it as a sarcastic jab at Buffalo but I can't believe that a grown man whose nickname is a tribute to his prolific milk-drinking skills would be capable of such nuance. I'll take his "Buffalo is where it's at" opinion at face value.

  5. Politico is reporting that Senator Robert Byrd wants to name the health care bill after Kennedy, which is a nice sentiment. Personally, I think we should wait until Byrd kicks it and name it after him, that way we can stop calling it the Health Care bill and correctly call it "Giving People The Byrd."

Sorry. It was just sitting there.

You should probably be saving some of this great material for 9/12.

  6. 2. Don't you think that if he gets back into coaching the second time around that he would want a little different situation...in other words, money to get players?

I can only guess but I think that the fact that he wasn't interested in the Washington Redskins HC vacancy last year or the New York Jets this year indicates that money/free agents isn't Cowher's sole motivation.

  7. I would love it, Pitta, but lets just say he did, and honestly lets say he gives Cowher a 5 year, 35 million dollar deal...what happens when Cowher wants to chase after free agents and make his team better?

What big name free agents did he ever chase in Pittsburgh? In fact during his era Pittsburgh was notorious for letting key players walk after their contracts expired (ie Rod Woodson).

  8. The Ravens are going to make A LOT of teams look awful this season. That team is loaded. I'd bet even money that ANY Dlineman they cut would be better than what we currently have.

Last night they said that there were over 20 teams represented by scouts at the game to check out players who Baltimore may cut.

No kidding. One of the MNF announcers said there were over 25 NFL scouts watching the Ravens, hoping to get a jump on the players they cut! On the other hand, it would piss me off to see the Baltimore Ravens go 2-0 in Super Bowls within their first 14 years of existence, when we loyal Bills fans are 0-4 since SB I was played, back in 1967! <_<

    Ooops. What he said.

Apparently the guy who killed his girlfriend, cut off her fingers, pulled out her teeth, and then hung himself while living on the lam in British Columbia not only made it deep into the current VH-1 reality show "Megan Wants a Millionaire" but actually won another VH-1 reality show "I Love Money 3" which they have "in the can". VH-1 has decided to cancel "Megan Wants a Millionaire" and will never air "I Love Money 3"- are they making the right decision?

  10. T.O. missing preseason games is nothing new.

Terrell Owens said Monday that his nagging hamstring likely will keep him out of the Dallas Cowboys' preseason opener Saturday night in Seattle.

"I would say so," he said. "I'm not 100 percent, so I really wouldn't risk it. That's just not being smart."

Owens sat out his fifth and sixth practices Monday morning because of soreness that set in Wednesday. He said he can't give a timetable for when he expects to return, but noted that "September is when I'm needed."

Owens has not played yet in the pre-season because of a hamstring injury that has limited him to just 12 of the team's 31 practices.

    He'll be fine.

  11. I remember that too, but I think there's a big difference here. Ice T was a very fringe rapper act at the time. Ironically, that song actually put him on the map.

That's not true. Before Cop Killer he had already released 3 gold albums, 1 platinum album, and starred in New Jack City and Ricochet. Cop Killer was probably the apex of Ice-T's pop culture relevance.

And by the way Body Count is one of the most unintentionally amazing bands of all time.
