  1. well, it isn't really free totally. It ultimately will cost me $120 for the ST, a base programming package for 4 months, and DVR service. Which is $80 more than I plan to spend with NFL game rewind.

Wait... You said you would get ST free including dvr and a downgrade for your 30 monthly service?

I bet theyre DYING to keep your $30 month service haha...

    Something doesnt jive

  2. I'm sure he will be prepared to defend anything the Bills come up with. How can you say he has no idea on blitz packages? Teams have packages set up for certain situations. You make it sound like this is a big advantage for us.

No big advantage.. Belislunt can outcoach our Dicks blindfolded. Point was the bills have shown absolutly ZERO on tape including how the Bills will blitz... (I remember seeing very little bills blitzing in Preseason)

That has to be hard to prepare for. Brady can be confused... It IS possible... But is it probable that the bills can pull that off?

Im thinking that the bills lost by only 10 points last year (1st game) and Edwards only passed for 120 yards. Lynch had only 46 yards. Can we get more production out of the O? I hope so..

The biggest question is have the bills narrowed the gap between themselves and the patriots? I think so..

The Pats are 32 in the league (granted in the PreSeason) in yards given up... A whopping 400+ yards a game, mostly passing yards.. Their secondary is pretty bad. Now, they have to defend TO, LE, RP, AND JR? How will they do that?

2 Keys to the game... O line giving trent time and secondly, the passing game...

  3. After finally getting to watch Saturdays game (just the first half) I have come to the conclusion all is not lost for this season's offensive perfomance. At least in regards to the offensive line. My eyes saw this...

Erik Wood is very good. On almost every run play Wood made contact and stuck to his block. He peeled off initial blocks and found his secondary block making contact. His pass protection on the whole seemed solid. Wood occasionally got pushed back in pass protection, but his fight kept him from being tossed aside in the ole' style Bills fans have become accustomed to.

Hangartner knows how to initiate contact and stick to his block as well. He seems to have trouble trying to turn his block the other way when his blocking assignment slants left or right. Actually all our linemen seem to have this problem, thus allowing d-linemen and linebackers to blow up running lanes. Hangartner has solid pass blocking skills...when he picks the correct rusher to block. On one specific play in the 2nd quarter all the linemen picked up their man on a 5 man defensive rush. Hangartner didn't have a d-man in front of him and decided to "help" Wood with his man. Unfortunately Wood didn't need any help with his block and Dominick Rhodes made an initial block on Farrior. Again, unfortunately one initial pop could not deter Farrior from bouncing off it, to get to Edwards. IMO Hangartner just had to position himself squarely in the middle of the pocket and wait for Farrior to bounce right into him.

Levitre, when he got to his block, made good initial contact with blocking assignment. Pass blocking seemed adequate, although it definitely does not look polished. He really looks like he is thinking about his assignment AND his technique. In other words, he is looking like a rookie. I saw him on many occasions looking for someone to block and doing absolutely nothing to contribute to the play.

Butler did not look as bad as I thought. His point of attack is adequate but, doesn't really seem to stick to his block. He really looks like he's trying to find out where to position himself in all that space he has to cover. He's not stiff and seems to have athletic ability. Being a taller man, he really has to work on anchoring his body while mirroring his opponents pass rush so he doesn't get thrown back by a bull rusher. Given some time I really think he will be a good anchor.

Walker is a big man. He is not quick from the point of attack and can be had by a speed rusher. I'm not that high on him being our everyday left tackle. Once he gets his mitts on his block he can sustain. But getting to that point is a chore for this big boy. A tight end or running back helping him with a chip will probably be necessary. Of course that limits our options if done on a regular basis.

I'm hoping that Bell will step it up and give Walker a run for his money. The rest of our starters I have reason for optimism. After all, if our boys up front start doing their job, our skill boys can practice their stupid celebration dances after they get in the endzone.

Our message board is loaded with massive negativity. I thought a glimmer of hope thread might be needed. Besides I believe it.

    Feel free to opine.

All i know is that the line looks much better than when JP was our starter...

  4. Pash rush is pathetic.

I think coverage against the Steelers looked pretty darn tight given the time Ben R. had to throw the ball. The lack of a pass rush is real and unless the team decides to unleash the DBs and LBs on blitzes more than in previous seasons then our 3rd down conversion (against) percentage will continue to suck. (IMO)

My question is regarding the training camp practices.. Im wondering if the scheme at practices are correlating to what were seing on the field... Let me be clearer.. Were the plays being run in practices as vanilla as were seeing in the preseason games? If so, were SCREWED!

  5. Listen pal, I understand the distinction. The bottom line is that a pre-season is very rarely a foreshadowing of things to come. By Week 2, the pre-season will be a distant memory. Am I skeptical about this team? You'd have to be an idiot not to be. But if the Bills march down the field and score a TD on their first drive at NE, then the whole pre-season becomes moot and all the hours you people have spent bitching and complaining will have been for naught.

The issue is we dont seem to be any different than the last 8 games last year..

  6. I went to camp a lot and there were much more downfield throws and complex pass routes. In the preseason games it seems like everything is a 5 yard route. That's not what I saw at camp. They did have their fair share of checkdowns, don't get me wrong, but not like we've seen in these games.

This actually gives me some hope then... In the preseason games... it looks like TE doesnt even look downfield before checking down, meaning the RB is the INTENDED reciever...

If this wasnt happening in camp then it is by design..

  7. All, there has been allot of speculation about 'Trentitive Edwards' passing in preseason...

Some have said that the bills are being completly vanilla and I agree...

Question is, is it because they are that Vanilla on purpose or because theyre that bad?

Is Dick becoming "Tricky Dick 2009?"

Will someone who went to camp this year please answer......

Did Trent Edwards ever pass down the field with ANY Success? Or were al his passes checkdowns?

What they were practicing may be more indicative of the way they may really play in the real season so someone PLEASE tell us what practices were like!!!

Also, please comment on the 'D' in regards to blitzes and coverages ect...

  9. Do you remember how poor the Bills played in the preseason during the Levy/Kelly era? Someone might have to correct me on this, but I believe the Bills won three games between 1990-1993. Let's wait and see what happens at New England, WITH T.O. That being said, your son isn't going to see a team like the 1990 Bills, one way or another.

This is about the 5th time ive seen this justification to a horrible preseason.. Pretty stupid if you ask me..

The DIFFERENCE is the Bills in the Levy era were established team and the preseason was used for evaluating new talent and rookie experience..

NOW, preseason is being used for PRACTICE for veterans...

    BIG difference
