  1. I am in the school of thought that in order for the Bills to turn the organization around on the field (which would translate to better $), they need to enlist the services of a Parcells or a Cowher. Someone who could take the reins and commit to a true direction. Too bad Donahoe was an idiot

  2. I had some software issues early on. The thing would go funny and I would have to hit a reset button and it would reload. It happened maybe 4 times. Not too bad, but it happened during the Bills/Rams game. There was a software update that came through and that hasnt happened since.

We have had some hellacious rainfalls/electrical storms, and a few ice storms and I have never had a weather-related stoppage.

A lot, actually. HDNET, UHD, NatGeo and many others that are only HD channels -new channels which only broadcast in HD. About $10/mo., but IMO, worth it!

Yeah, I turn on that HDNET sometimes because something catches my interest, only to find out I dont get it. It looks pretty good.

  3. What is the availabilty & price of high def on DTV?

Im paying about $130 a month. I have a HD DVR Box, and a regular connection in another room. I have all the movie channels and everything I need. Pretty much every station I watch has an HD version (networks, animal planet, nfln, nhln, center ice package, discovery, etc...) There is an extra HD package add-on which I dont know what possibly could come with it. There is also an add-on sports package (which I also have no clue... might be the regional sports networks). I have their highest tier (without those 2 add-ons)

Usually if you order, you get something along the lines of free equipment, and free Sunday Ticket for the 1st year.

I love it. The only thing that cable has that DTV lacks is the On Demand, and no Howard TV. DTV has pay per view movies and events though. Its nice because you can just order from your CPU. You can also control your DVR online.

  4. for me, I have a huge open South sky.

I asked my apartment office if it is permitted. They said yes, but they cant drill or bolt.

So Directv clamped the dish/pole securely to my wooden porch/railing thing. They ran all the cords underneath/in the corner of the door way and anchored them down so the door opening/closing isnt affected, and all is good.

  5. Comcast posted a "message" through its cable boxes that it has been negotiating with the NFLN and that it wasn't being allowed to offer it anymore after May 1, not even for an increased fee. That seems unbelievable to me.

My neighbor and I are looking into putting up a pole that would let us get a couple Dishes high enough to get a signal (we're in a heavily treed valley. Now more than ever, I hope we can do it.

I am seeing this everywhere with Cable companies. These disputes with channels, them blaming the entire problem with the channels, then not providing their customers with the channels. Always the channels fault.

On top of that, every cable company I have dealt with has been a task. Comcast's weekly calls "offering" me the Triple Play Package no matter how many times I said no, and sending me junk mail offering the package that I am forced to open because they are disguised as bills.

Charter Communications hitting me with a Collections Company for $12.00 (4) years after I had moved... (never knew I owed it, I wasnt hard to find).

I see what Time Warner has pulled in Buffalo.

I cancelled the Comcast TV service because my price doubled and there was all sorts of hidden charges. I asked if I could get on a deal and they said no. I went to Directv and told Comcast I would like to keep the internet, but they said because I no longer had cable, my internet bill would go from $40 to $65 a month (but I could sign up and not use the most basic cable package for $13 to get the discount), so I cancelled that too.

Im sure Directv has its horror stories, but they have been nothing but helpful every time I have called. They came out for installation very quickly and the guy was very pleasant even though I made his life difficult (cant bolt anything in at my appt). The Bills come in and I am getting charged exactly what I expect. There is at least 3X as many HD channels.

  6. The stadium is not located in Buffalo. The present stadium is located in Orchard Park, south of Buffalo. Based on Yahoo maps, Toronto to Orchard Park is 1 hr, 54 minutes. Moving the stadium to Niagara Falls shaves a 1/2 hour off the drive time. Moving the stadium from Orchard Park to Buffalo will only save the Toronto fan a 15 minute drive time.

the decision isnt between keeping the stadium in orchard park and putting a new shiny one in NF.

The decision would be new facility (somewhere) vs. RWS in Orchard Park.

Then the decision would be where. Whether the Buffalo waterfront, OP, or elsewhere. In this case, it would be extremely probable it would be located in Erie County, and a good chance in Buffalo.

  7. Your way off base here. When the matchups were announced they would usually have to sell about 30 thousand or so tickets within 7 days or so. Check most other cities in the playoffs, especially the wildcard rounds, the deadlines usually have to be extended because that is alot of tickets to unload in such a short amount of time. By my calculations, the bills from 88-96 played 12 playoff games & only 2 were blacked out(houston & jacksonville), both still drawing over 70K people for each game(remember the Ralph's seating capacity was over 80K back then). That is pretty impressive. The bottomline come playoff time, because of the short time frame teams have to unload the tickets, unless you have a season ticket base that takes up the 80-90% of your stadium capacity, your going to have a tough time getting the game on tv without having the blackout extended. I believe both SD, Minn, Miami & Arizona need the blackouts extended last year.

I know if they sold out, Tampa went to the wire last year. I remember later in the week there was trouble because they werent selling out, and they were banning people from out of state (Giants fans) from buying tickets

  8. Nothing to do with this poll. I could care less... But ESPN sucks IMO. I rarely turn it on, and its not even on my normal 'rotation' of channel flipping. College Football Gameday is one of the best shows on TV though.

I wish there was a legitimate competitor to ESPN who gained nearly as much power. Like Foxnews to CNN type of deal. hehe. One station could side with players, and the other with owners.

  9. For those who are married how does your wife feel about you playing Madden still? Does she understand?

I live with my girlfriend. We are basically living the married life for all intents and purposes.

She really has no problem with me playing video games. She understands and usually goes into the bedroom to watch TV and/or read/cruise the internet while I am playing. Every once in awhile, I find a game she enjoys and she will play too.

  10. OK, 34. I understand that. I would take NF over Toronto or anywhere not in WNY for sure. If they announce tomorrow they are building the Bills a new stadium in Niagara Falls Id be thrilled.

It could work. But in the unlikely event a stadium gets funded, I cant see them not putting it in Buffalo proper.

  11. Im 30 and play video games.

On My Madden I played 1 season, drafted, played another season, drafted, then I finished my NCAA 09 season. I uploaded the seniors into Madden, so in my 3rd Madden season which is 2010, I am scouting the current draft class, which I already played on NCAA. My XBox football universe is like the Lost version. All sorts of time paradox.

The draft class actually came out pretty realistically.

    NCAA 09 destroys Madden btw

  12. Some posters in here say alot of mularkey just to try and get rise out of us. You know, the same ones that get kicked out of the stadium for fighting in the tunnels. They never have any real forethought and the minute you disagree with them they wanna jump down your throat.

it looks like you are the one with no argument trying to get a rise out of people. None of the "reasons" to put a stadium in NF make sense. They couldnt even renovate sal maglie stadium to keep a NY Penn League team there. They cant even renovate Hyde Park rink in 20 years. I was up there near NF Blvd and Military a couple weeks ago, and the potholes up there are an embarassment and you wonder how they would be allowed to keep getting worse in Niagara Falls' "shopping" district. Buffalo does has its problems, but has groups working toward improving things, and you do see some improvement. Also, where the stadium is now is fine.

I have my doubts that NYS and/or Buffalo would be able to get it done. Niagara Falls is a near impossibility. On top of that, property taxes are worse in Niagara County. And I still dont understand why they would put a stadium there besides the fact that you want it.

  13. Ok everytime the bills play a prime time game,,,what does network show about the area???the Buffalo waterfront???? No they show Niagara Falls. With the bills in NF it would make them a more marketable team!!!!!

    youre being sarcastic right?

They alse show an overhead of the Buffalo area, and they show someone at Anchor Bar flipping wings. Maybe they should build the new stadium attached to the Anchor Bar for 'marketing'.

if they need to use the falls for marketing then the team is already dead.

no way the Falls ever comes close to happening.

  14. Putting the team in Niagara Falls is a joke. an impossible dream pushed by its residents. its worthy of thought, but shouldnt get very far.

how is niagara falls closer to Canada than Buffalo?

niagara county is the one place property taxes are worse than Erie County

the city on the surface and the air is disgusting. You cant spend more than an hour or so outside without feeling sick in parts. Most places in the city absolutely smell.

How is putting the team near a tourist attraction going to help? Are the bills going to have a huge influx of Korean tourist family season ticket holders?

it would be a horrible nightmare getting to/leaving games.

If there is a government even more incompetent than any in Erie County, its that of Niagara Falls. A lot would need to happen for this. and it will never happen. They cant even improve the Hyde Park rinks

I live in Grand Island. Closer to NF. It would make my gameday commutes easier. But horrible idea. If there is ever a new stadium, I guarantee it will be in Erie County.
