  1. DeCastro's a right guard, Pilsner, who can also play center (i.e., provide depth - currently nonexistent - at center to rest Eric Wood, or relieve him in case re-injury). DeCastro handled all the snaps - about 200 - for Luck at Standord's Pro Day, played center in high school, and is considered by most pro teams scouting him to be versatile enough to play either position.

IMHO, guy's a can't miss pick - a future HOF RG and guaranteed All Pro from season one and for the next 10 seasons. Think Joe DeLamielleure and OJ Simpson, then imagine the holes DeCastro can blow open for CJ & Freddie...

    GO BILLSSS!!!!

    19 and 0 baby!!!!! B-)

Watch that video and see hoe technically sound of a blocker that kid is. He can blast open holes for Freddy and Cj as well as pull on screens which we run alot of. I dont want to hear he wont have an impact cause thats bull

  2. Ok I know He's not as big a position of Need but I am not sold on any of the talent that may be available at 10. Decastro has the makings to being a special guard in this League...maybe even Elite.I don't feel comfortable saying that about the others. It is just my opinion of course but why not take a player who seems like a surefire starter from day one as opposed to those available at tacle and WR that may be good. To me Decastro is a stud lineman and will make our OLine and team better from day 1.....thoughts?

  3. These kinds of thoughts make me smile. Chan, the players, and the front office of the Bills would understand Stache leaving for a better opportunity as they would probably do the same thing in his place. It is business, not personal, and they all understand that.

But the funny part is what I bolded. The Stache is going to turn down a promotion because it is the most important thing to have the respect of the Bills fanbase :)

What's a couple million dollars more or less as long as you have the Bills fans respect :)

I have no idea if Stache will be the DC of the Bills next season or not, but thanks for the chuckle :)

you know Code it is more important than anything to have our approval. Didn't you read the Bills fan manual? On page 5 subset 3b it clearly states " the opinion of the coaching staff, front office and or ownership is always superceded by the opinion of the fanbase. As such any unapproved procedural moves made by said parties will be met with swift action in the form of a bag of poop on fire left at the doorstep of above stated individual after the doorbell is rang"

  4. In order for Buffalo to help ensure that the Bills stay the domed stadium complex idea has to be considered. It brings jobs and a year round desperately needed revenue stream to the economy. Paying for it is another story. Maybe something for the new ownership group? My 2 cents worth anyway

  5. Talking head on EsPN just mentioned Wanny as a possible replacement HC in Arkansas.

Well now we will see what kind of "character" the stache has. If he stays put and honors his commitment to Chan and the Bills he will gain respect from his team coaching staff and more importantly the fanbase. If I had to venture a guess I would say that you will see that epic porn stache pacing the sideline finishing what he started. The makings of a dominant D

  6. Today's Buffalo News has an article about Todd McShay's opinion of the Bills pick at #10 lacking options with value. Every year we descend into the value/reach debate as if it means anything once OTAs begin.

Reach and value are invented commodities used to add drama to draft day. It is something debated endlessly but means nothing once the draft is done. If you pick a player and he fills a need no one cares if he was a reach or a value pick.

    Have at it.

    PTR

I don't care if we pick a long snapper at 10 as long as whoever we pick comes in and STARTS and plays at a high level...my only concern

  7. The question in my mind, and what I can't wait to see, is how much better is he going to make everyone else?

Who does the O-Line double-team? You can only pick one guy without resorting to using TE's and RB's to chip block and provide pass protection. How will not having to cover guys all over the field while the QB sits in the pocket unfazed and focused impact the performance of the secondary? How will the linebackers perform running down plays, filling holes, shooting gaps, and making tackles without the center and guards being able to get out on them?

My expectation is the Bills are going to put a pretty good pressure defense on the field and its going to cause a lot of problems for the offenses they face this coming season.

I think its the other way around. How many more sacks will he get with KW and Dareus folding the middle like a napkin...He and anderson may both go double digits this year...what a great problem to have

  8. I view Johnathan Martin as a OT who needs to be in a NFL conditioning program...but has all the tools to be a NFL left tackle.....

I am trying to figure out in my mind just the way this is all going to go.....

    - The bills may or may not believe Hairston is the answer

    - It looks like there will be some quality wide outs available to us in the 2nd round

    - Martin IS considered a 1st round LOT.....whether he is a 10th pick LT I am not sure....

    - We could in fact use a quality corner as well...but we did extend Mgee and drafted Williams last year...Rogers has some potential...and our pass rush is considerable improved.

    - We extended Pears....we are solid and have depth from guard to guard.....Levitre CAN play LT but has short arms and is better at LG

I am basing all of this on if Nix cannot find a trade down partner...if he can trade down (and we dont get raped in the compensation) that is my obvious first choice....but lets say for sake of arguement that he cannot trade down and HAS to pick at 10.

Would folks be upset to see Martin at 10 and a guy like Jeffrey or Sanu at the 2nd pick?

Upset...no But I just think at # 10 your pick needs to contribute and make a difference. Can we say that about Martin? Maybe we resign Bell and bring Martin along slow i'd be more comfortable with that but that leads me back to immediate impact. The WR in the second round is not as critical to me because WR's have a longer learning curve so whoever the pick is there probably won't do a whole lot anyway year one.

  9. It is probably unlikely, but if the Vikings pass on Kalil, the Bills should try to trade up. If I was Nix, and Kalil slid past the Vikes, I would try to trade our 1st and a 4th round pick to move up. (We have two 4th round picks.)

Kalil is the only OT that warrants going in the top 15. The other offensive tackles are a reach at the 10th pick.

Just stop right there. he won't get past Minnesota so its a moot point they know he's the only one worth the pick too.

  10. If you ask me (and yes I do believe decastro will be good) drafting a guard is akin to drafting Spiller a couple of years ago -- drafting into a position of strength. The Bills are not good enough to do that yet. This team has definitive needs -- Tackle, WR, CB and that is where we should be looking.

I agree 100% with this teams needs my problem is no one that we can draft at #10 makes me think they will be plugged in as a starter and be good from day one. Floyd? or the tackles martin, reiff...does any of those guys make you think ok filled that spot..next...thats my problem with our needs vs available "need" players...kinda sux actually.

  11. Came across this nugget on Youtube and thought I'd share.

    Two observations:

1.) Thurman was even better than you probably remember (Andre, too)

2.) About the last name that springs to mind when someone says "Super Bowl Years" is Kirby Jackson. but he had a monster trio of games as seen here.

    1991 Bills Highlights

Ahh they were awesome. I was a junior in high school playing ball myself and remember trying to be just like those guys. One thing I noticed that I am just starting to see with our current Bills is that If you watch those highlights, every time they made a great play almost every player would go and congratulate the player who just made a great play. It's unity that we saw with the 1991 team. I'm seeing it now with our current roster. Thats a beautiful thing and I think a great sign of things to come

  12. If the Bills end up taking Michael Floyd it won't be all that long before we are talking about Stevie being a nice #2 to compliment Floyd. Floyd is more talented by a pretty good margiin and an all around physical beast at the WR spot. If the Bills take him everyone will be very pleased after watching him play a few games in a Bills uniform. And the cold won't be a problem either, kid grew up in freakin' Minnesota.

There's no guarantee Floyd will be anything in the NFL. Stevie has done it on the grand stage. We take Floyd and he puts up 70 or 80 catches for a 1000 yds...maybe then He can be the number 1...thats a big if though my man

  13. The more I think about it the more it seems to make sense. Unless Buffalo is in love with certain player at the 10th spot I can see Buffalo trading down and acquiring more picks in this years draft. Selecting a Cordy Glenn in the middle of round one or a Courtney Upshaw, Zach Brown, Peter Konz, Mike Adams, Devon Still, etc etc.

Buddy Nix made this statement "We have 9 picks in this years draft but would like 10". If Buffalo finds a dancing partner at 10 I really believe we trade down and gain some more picks. Buffalo needs depth at many positions. Every year we get "awed" from the top 15 names in the draft but it's usually the 2nd round and back where the players really make the most impact in the NFL.

Can't stand the wait until the draft!

Problem I see with that is We might not have a willing partner depending how the top 9 picks shake out . Also do we get enough value (i'd like a second to trade down) I doubt that it's even worth it. If Nix does pull off a coup and gets a second...shoot even a third would be a victory and give us some more "pieces"

  14. I will say that IF Tannehill is available at #10 AND Nix thinks he is a franchise QB, The Bills will take him in a second.

I don't think either of those things will happen, although, if he is gone by #10, someone obviously thinks he can be a franchise QB. I have no opinion on him myself, but a couple guys whose evaluations I respect, think he is a helluva talent. So it would not surprise me if the Bills picked him, regardless of what they think of Fitz or who else is left on the board, or what positions of need are left.

The question will be is he good enough to use a pick on at 10 with Fitz entrenched as the starter or do they feel everyone else is a reach and his talent is too good to pass up. I haven't seen him play so I can't say but if Nix and CO believe he is the BPA and he's there?....

  15. I know that many might think taking a guard at 10 is ridiculous but this guy is a total stud. What would you think about the possibility of this happening? Would anyone else be in favor of that at all?

good post I have shared your sentiment before. Is whoever we pick at 10 considered a "reach" at their position..... michael floyd? one of the tackles? or is Decastro a smart move to solidfy the interior line with some injury uncertainty/ FA next year? IMHO Decastro is the best guard in the draft. How can having a potentially great guard when other options might be considered reaches hurt this football team?

  16. Here we were sitting on our computers like sheep trying to get word that Williams signed. Instead we got a giant F.U by not 1 but 2 free agents. I'm sure that the Bills brass pulled out all the stops and short of giving these guys oral could not convince these guys this is the place. it actually hurt tonight when they pissed on the Bills and left without signing. But then again can you blame them.... all I can say is wow

  17. I dont care if Griffin is the second coming of Christ they waaaay overpayed for this pick. Now instead of having first round picks to fill inevitable needs with top tier talent they will have to sign overpriced free agents. Oh wait they have done that before...how did that work for you little Danny Snider?...glad we are doing it the way Nix is . I know our patience is thin for 12 yrs of bumbling ineptitude but I can honestly say the Bills are moving in the right direction.
