How did you walk away from the Ravens game thinking Lamar was anything less than great?  He was nearly flawless.  He didn’t put up gaudy passing numbers, but if he goes 16/22 for 2 TDs plus 100 yards and 2 more TDs rushing without turning the ball over the rest of the way, they’re winning the Super Bowl.

He should have been picked in the EZ just before his first rushing TD.  If that happens and if Harris doesn’t get dinged up, it’s a different game.

They were padding Lamar’s stats in the 4th with the game out of reach.  The football gods will take notice.

Serious question... did he get paid $10K or something to be here this week?

Now you know why the Bills didn’t provide food and drink for the shovelers this week.

In the late 90s I managed to give myself  a concussion (and likely the other guy too) doing a John Lynch style helmet to helmet hit while blocking for a kickoff return.  I couldn't remember my phone number when the trainer asked me.  There was no treatment and I got to take the 10 hr bus ride home with the team.

Yay for 90s high school football.

Where did you play HS football that you were taking 10 hour bus rides for games, Montana?

Agree. When the Texans were able to score some points and dial up some pressures, BAL looked suspiciously like their previous failed playoff squads. Especially LamarJackson, who seemed moments away from a game changing mistake for most of the 2nd quarter.

If the Texans don’t drop that pick in the end zone….

  5. When things get bad for the Bills in a game I have to step away, sometimes for a quarter, sometimes longer.  The people with axes to grind against particular players and coaches always proliferate in those times, and I don’t want to say something I’ll regret.

But I usually can’t stay away too long.  I can’t watch the game with live humans other than my son (who’s away at college) or my dad (who lives in another state), because they always want to talk about something else, and I only want to talk about the game with people who are as into it as I am.  This is pretty much the only place that happens. As for my posting style, I celebrate, I gripe, I analyze, I react…. Like most of you, I’m all over the place.

I  mean I hope. I am sure they have been in some loud stadiums before, but this will be playoffs time. I am sure Highmark is sold out and fans outside will be crazy. For reference, here are the away games they've played this year:

    Jacksonville (Jags fans? please)

NY Jets (after Rodgers was knocked out)

Vikings (a little crazy fan, but mediocre team)

    Broncos (during the skid)

    Vegas (imported fan base)

    Packers (lost)

    Patriots (eliminated)

    Chargers (eliminated)

So they have played one playoff team on the road, and that was a loss.

There is a case to be made that they are not road tested.

The case can be made that the Chiefs have NEVER EVER had to play offense in an environment like Sunday's, at least not since January 1994 and 1992 when we took them to the woodshed both times.

I love it when folks say "but they played in Tampa's home stadium against the Bucs."  First of all, a corporate Super Bowl crowd is nothing like this.  Second... they lost.

I thought he said that but after searching I only see Mahomes on record saying he thought it was a free play.

Not sure how Mahomes thought that when his back was to the ref throwing the flag the whole time.

If Kelce said that, I'm calling him a liar.

There is no way he saw that flag come out from where he was lined up and going into his route.

    (play is at about :39)

Man, from this angle you can really see how far offside Toney is.

I was thinking about that, and what would be a better leadership strategy.

What I got to, is lean on the team's players.  Have Tyreek Hill talk about playing in KC, what it's like, what his experience is playing there when cold.  Find other players who have experience with cold weather games to share their lived experience.   I think that would come across as much more real.

Either that or just don’t knowingly lie to your players and create false bluster.  “I wish it were colder.”  No, you obviously don’t, and we can tell.  Plus you just made it about you, not the team.

It hit different when Marv would say “when it’s too cold for them, it’s just right for us.” Because (a) it was true and (b) he made it about us v them, not me me me.

I still don't understand why the Dolphins are living rent free in some of ya'all heads considering how lopsided this alleged rivalry has been in recent years.

I'm more worried about the Chiefs and how they have owned this franchise when it matters and why so much is at stake on Sunday.

    I bet you are.

So the difference in both records is they managed to boil the Bills in 2022?

Exactly.  If it's not 120 degrees on our side of the field (and ONLY on our side), the Dolphins are 19-15 under McDaniel compared to 19-14 under Flores.  And McDaniel had the better roster.

  12. All this time I have been trying to figure out who McDaniel reminds me of.  Then last night I was idly surfing the Roku and saw an icon for "The League," the show from around 2010 about a group of fantasy football players.

Tell me he's not a dead ringer for Rodney Ruxin, the league's most annoying owner.  I can't believe I didn't see it before, but apparently I'm not the first.

  13. Two thoughts on this.

One:  even though this started among Pittsburgh fans, there's a subtle campaign from Mahomes/Chiefs lovers to play this up in the hopes that a Josh run on Sunday will draw a flag.

Two:  I wouldn't be surprised to see the Competition Committee receive a ridiculous proposal requiring quarterbacks to run in a straight line or slide after they cross the line of scrimmage.  No more "juking" allowed.  To which I say fine, then quarterbacks must also run directly out of bounds when they are across the line and outside the hashmarks.
