  5. Talk about pissing in the cereal bowl.
  6. Joe Marino just crushed this guy. Basically said he is awful. If he does land on the Bills PS I wonder if this staff can develop him into a halfway decent rotational player. Men of that size and athletic ability are genetic freaks. You have to wonder if it is coaching and technique that are holding him back.
  7. Cool story - thanks for posting. There is nothing like Bills Mafia.
  8. The Browns are an absolute dumpster fire. I would say you can almost throw the Jets into this thread.
  9. This thread makes me laugh
  10. Sad day for many good people.
  11. Yes, Brady has made the offense much easier to operate for Josh. Crazy and “Superman” type plays from Josh are way down because the system allows Josh to simply “stick with the play.”
  12. Beane did not pick him.
  13. Listen to Joe Marino’s comments about the Bills D. Starting roughly 14 minutes 30 seconds into the podcast, Joe Marino speaks to the Bills defensive strategy. In short, the Bills strategically want teams to run for two reasons: * To take away explosive plays in the passing game * The Bills allow a very low EPA (expected points added) in run plays. In fact, current stats say the Bills are the 3rd best in the league at it. The net of the discussion, and others by Marino, is that the Bills choose to operate consistently with light boxes against the run. The Bills want teams to run. The Bills will give up yards in the run game because the stats say that teams do not score points against the Bills efficiently when they run. It’s very insightful analysis. Many of us grew up on the mantra “run and stop the run.” McDermott’s system is more like “we pass or run and score with efficiency; you run and don’t score with efficiency.” I think Josh Allen’s ability is a huge part of this strategic approach.
  14. I would be shocked if Brady is selected - not enough time and success.
  15. Guess between him, MVS and Curtis Samuel you can chalk up FA singing as a basic failure on the part of Beane this past offseason.
  16. You’re right - if Cybo was holding what was done to Oliver on that play was even more egregious and obvious.
  17. You just have to feel good about this.
  18. I’m glad the Bills won because if these calls and Coleman’s rookie mistake = loss that would have been a bitter spoonful of medicine to swallow.
  19. Inside or outside hand position does not matter: “Use his hands or arms to materially restrict or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit. It is a foul regardless of whether the blocker’s hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender’s body. “ The question is did he “grab” and did he materially alter the defenders path?
  20. So, I really wanted to get out of homer mode to try to understand why the Bills were called on successive plays for offensive holding. I am not trying to argue that the refs made the right or wrong call. Instead, I seek to understand why they made the calls they did. First, some resources for those that want to look at them: Summary and video tutorial from the NFL about the rule The official and full rule Second, video clips of the plays: Dawkins: Sorry guys I can’t find video that I can clip for this post. The play occurs at the 39 second mark before the half. If you have DVR - you will see Dawkins chop hands and the Miami defender falls to the ground. Possibly - in the course of the play Dawkins sits on the defender (the announcers call this out). Cybo: The possible basis for the calls based on the rules (again not arguing the case for the refs): Dawkins: The rule “If a blocker falls on or pushes down a defender whose momentum is carrying him to the ground, Offensive Holding will not be called unless the blocker prevents the defender from rising from the ground.” It was a beautiful block until Dawkins sits or motions like he is sitting on the defender. The ref probably calls it for this reason. Frankly, Dawkins had no need to do it and it was stupid. Cybo: The rule: “Use his hands or arms to materially restrict or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit. It is a foul regardless of whether the blocker’s hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender’s body. Material restrictions include but are not limited to: grabbing or tackling an opponent; hooking, jerking, twisting, or turning him; or pulling him to the ground. Penalty: For holding by the offense: Loss of 10 yards.” In the video from Parrino at about the 5 second mark the Miami player’s jersey may move as if being tugged. It is exceptionally brief and not apparent from the camera angle is it is caused by Cybo grabbing. The refs probably judged this as “restricting” the defender’s path. Again, this is simply trying to look at the rules and plays objectively. Thoughts?
  21. I tend to agree as Coleman’s error was his own. The holding calls were refs directly changing and influencing the outcome of a drive and game. This is especially when Taron Johnson was so blatently held later in the gam on a Fins run that resulted in a TD. Ok the refs are going to call the game tight but do so consistently.
