  1. I was born in Buffalo, and left around 69-70, been living in West. Pa for the past 39 years, and it is a good place to live, I would say pretty comparable to Western NY. I will always be a die-hard Bills fan, my wife (an avid Steeler Fan) doesn't understand why I won't change to the Steelers, I try and try to explain it, and she still doesn/t get it. I tell her that I am happy for her, but I really am very jealous of her teams success, and wasn't thrilled to see them win another title. The Steeler fans are very loyal, it is well documented, but as I have said before, they, as a group, are very unknowledgable, football wise. I prove this over and over again, by questioning supposedly die-hard fans all the time, like lttle simple things, who is the teams punter, who is the third string QB, etc..invaribly, even with a lot of guys, they just do not know. I think for most of them it is more of a social thing, as opposed to a true love of the game. There are a lot of bandwagon jumpers around here, and their loyalty is also vey skin deep, they were booing the Steelers at home the third game of the season, and they were 2 and 1 at the time. Most of them are spoiled, and the success is really wasted on a lot of them.
  2. One good example of what Peters should have done, would be Alana Faneca formerly of the soon to be World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Last year he ws miffed at the beginning of training camp, and may have even held out some, but it wasn't long, he is at least at two-time pro-bowler, he came in to camp, and had a very respectable if not dominant year in a down year for the Steelers. I remeber him publicly stating that he was done after that year, and that he would not sign with them again, before the season even started. After that year, he signed with the Jets and was handsomly rewarded, and I think that the Jets are glad that they have him. I think the key there was that Faneca knew that the Steelers don't negotiate as much with players under contract and are generally frugal, and don't overpay average talent, he dealt with the situation and moved on. Why is Peters situation any different? You honor your responsibilities, and then move on, you don't miss the whole training camp, I could have seen a couple of weeks to send a message, but then you come in almost get your quarterback killed a couple of times, and take a ton of un-timely penalties. No denying his talent, but is his head and heart right?
  3. I guess for some of us it might have been right around the point where he came in after his ill advised lengthy hold out and proceeded to stink the joint up.
  4. Niether will I, just do it the right way.
  5. What post were you reading? I didn't say that Peters was not at risk for an injury that could effect him long term, I simply said that we are all subject to long term injuries, granted football players more, but the point that you made was that it could be long term health effecting, I just don't see that, and I belive that his current compensation level is ample to deal with any long term injuries that he may suffer as a result of football. Another words dealing with a bum knee or back, that resulted from an old football injury, or what ever is not the same as dealing with Cancer or some other life threatening illness. The point about being able to afford health insurance is not misplaced, as your are arguing that Peters has to look out for number one, and that he could experience a health changing injury, and then you go on to cite the problems with the older generation of football players, being taken care of for old past chronic injuries, I doubt many of them have adequate health insurance, or it wouldn't be a problem, would it?
  6. Nah, we have already slated Peters for trading.
  7. OK, by your logic, as long as Peters isn't being what he percieves to be "screwed", and has a new more tolerant agent, he will perform, wow great logic, I am glad that the Bills don't have you negotiating deals for them.
  8. Will it though? Once a malcontent always a malcontent, T.O. comes to my mind, one minute he is crying "thats my quarterback" on national TV, and the next he is throwing him under the proverbial bus. Peters has shown us his true colors, the Bills have to cut the cancer out.
  9. Now you are really delerious, I am fully aware of the movement to compensate players from a by-gone era, where there was no safety net, and they should be taken care of, but that is not what we are talking about here, like I said in an earlier post, these guys are companenated to the point that just a couple of years salary will set them up for life, and they certainly should be able to afford health insurance. Many of the guys from that past era lived hard and fast lives, and did not take care of themselves propoerly, and I would venture to say, that most had way more opportunity given to them, after football then any of us working stiffs would ever recieve. Some, however did suffer lifetime dibilitating injuries, and they should be supported, and then you had many like for example Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam, who chse his lifestyle, and ultimatley paid a steep price for it. You are trying to compare apples to acai berries.
  10. What is so funny about honoring your commitments, I will say it again, you are an example of what is wrong with society in general, you must be part of the me first generation.
  11. No, that doesn't make him wrong, or a bad person, what makes him wrong, is when he decides that he is bigger than the rest of the team, and I belive he did just that. As far as violent long-term health threatening injuries, Paaaaalease, again, I have never seen a fatality, we all run the risk of long term injuries as soon as we get out of bed every morning, that assumes, that all of us do get out of bed every morning. About the most that could happen to him, would be maybe a carrer thretening injury, but an overall health threatening injury, let me say it again, Paaaaaalease. His head is too big and fat to suffer a concussion. BTW there certainly are guaranteed contracts, as well as signing bonuses in the NFL.
  12. Gotta defend the Senator here, first off, what he can or cannot do physically has nothing to do with the Peters situation, the Senator doesn't suit up for a living. Second, what planet do you reside on, has anybody ever told you that "life isn't exactly fair" or don't you remember your first rejection from that girl in 2nd grade? Maybe you would stay in your current situation and just go through motions, feeling sorry for yourself, and as a wow is me malcontent, but the majority of people would dig in their collective heels, work hard, shine, and be rewarded, and if the aren't eventually rewarded, then let me refer you back to the above quote.
  13. We can all agree that his play was sub par this year, maybe I exaggerated on the 50 % rate. But, I can't belive that you would make a statement like that, man if I made the money in two or three years that Peters, or for that matter any other player in the NFL made, they could screw me every day. Someone posted earlier that you can't really compare a job in normal business to one in the NFL, and that has a lot of truth to it, but it works both ways, in other words, you really do have to compare relative to supply/demand in that particuliar industry, so yes, by that standard, Peters is underpaid, but in the grand scheme of things, I can't feel too sorry for someone that will likely not have to work another day in his life, even if his carrer ended today. Oh, but what if he were to blow out his knee.....give me a freakin break!
  14. Oh really, I don't think that the Bills meant a couple of days before the start of the regular season, not mentally or physically ready to play, and with a lackluster attitude, where are his work ethics? They made that offer at the start of training camp, he reported just about when it was finished. There are plenty of things that the Bills management will manage to screw up, but this was not one of them.
  15. I understand, you like Brian Moreman, a lot, don't you?
  16. How about Duke Prestin to your %ss? Huh, how about that one.
  17. Maybe your obsessed with Peters and Johnso.....er I mean Jasons.
  18. Not sure you want to see him traded, but it's nice to see a little support.
  19. WTF Translate please. He was paid handsomley for the year that he performed. Still a lot more than what we see. I know that it is a brutal sport and all, but come on, the last time I checked, I didn't see any fatalities.
  20. What if we could package him on a draft day trade and get the DE and Center we desperatley need? Would that work for you all?
