  1. If Fitz only threw one pick a game, you knew it was going to come in the 4th quarter with the outcome in question.

I wonder....can thousands of people thinking the exact same thing at exactly the same time will it to happen?

Well we always wish and hope on our beloved Bills and that doesn't seem to have had much of an effect.

    :D

Anyways, hope 2014 is a better year for all of us.

    Happy New Year, T.

  2. I listen to Colin Cowherd every morning on Espn radio. The guy made a statement yesterday saying he would take Andrew Luck the next 7 years over Rodgers as far as winning in the playoffs. I hope he is wrong but it seems like Cowherd hates Rodgers. Rodgers didn't play his best game against the Niners. Only threw for 177 yards. I think the team played over its head to win too but couldn't pull it out. Hurts but there is always next year.

I thought Rodgers played pretty well although not statistically.

There were several plays which broke down where he ad libbed really well and as usual he was a beacon of calm in a sea of calamity.

I was glad to see the Pack play good defense in spite of so many injuries. It gives hope for next year. If Nick Perry can stay healthy, he could finally break out. Hopefully they re-sign all their good guys (Raji, Shields).

  3. How is everybody doing? I haven't been on in a while but since my team is done now for the season I figure I come and say Hi. We play the Bills next year in Buffalo. Look forward to seeing you guys next season again. I really hate beating the Bills too so we might let you guys win. Hope you guys had a good Christmas and New Years.

    Hey Ice Bowl.

What did you think of Aaron Rodgers' performance against the Niners?

Did you hear about the criticsm the ESPN Radio guy Colin Cowherd leveled at Rodgers?

Did you go to the game?

    Happy New Year!

  4. Well, yeah, but so were the total # of passes thrown. Not that the comparison makes any sense in any event, but just sayin'

To that I would say that Fitz' numbers are Fitz' numbers. After 9 seasons, they aren't gonna deviate much from what they are.

As for EJ, 300 passes is a pretty good sample size and he was a rookie so I think you just have to say that he did a good job of avoiding picks.

When you add that this was one of his proficiencies in college, I think it's safe to say that he'll do a good job of not throwing interceptions.

Now if one were to say that Fitz' percentage is higher because he's more of a high risk-high reward thrower, I'd agree.

  5. Kiko deserves it without a doubt. Not only did he put up big numbers as a rookie...

He was also the only rookie who was the leader of his unit, being the signal caller for Pettine's defense.

That, in itself, is a huge responsibility...and not only did he fulfill it, he played at a high level while doing so.

(I wanted Keenan Allen too, read somewhere that he is the next "Anquan Boldin.")

    Hey. What the...

    :)

  6. Couple of things...

For obvious reasons, college stats are irrelevant for this discussion. EJ looked like a much different player against the ACC.

Take away Fitz's Indy game and he too had less than an int per game, but that's not how stas are kept (nor is that a stat that is kept).

You take pains to tell us that some of EJs nits were not his fault, yet you make no such qualification for Fitz's ints. Why is that?

Ryan Fitzpatrick's career interception percentage is actually higher than the one he had last year (that you posted).

    In 2013 it was 3.4%.

For his career it is 3.6%.

EJ's interception percentage as a rookie was 2.9%.

  7. >>>>>Asper (6-7, 325) was the first to join the club when he was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1st after he was released by Jacksonville at the end of the preseason. A former sixth-round pick of the Bills in 2012, it’s his second go round with Buffalo. He was promoted to the active roster in mid-October following the release of Colin Brown.

The 28-year old saw action on field goals and extra points in six games this season for a total of 26 plays. He’s worked mainly at guard in his time with Buffalo.<<<<<

26 plays at age 28? Yeah, he sounds great.

I never said Asper is gonna be great.

I'm saying that most NFL teams don't spend a lot of resources for offensive guards and that there's sound rational for that conventional thinking in the NFL.

Again, the All Pro guards this year were a pair of 3rd rounders, a pair of 4th rounders, and 1 first rounder.

  8. All im asking is for you to ask yourself afew questions...

    1. Do you consider EJ (or Thad) to be better than FITZ?

    2. Do you consider SJ, TJ-year 2, woods and goodwin to be better than SJ, TJ-rookie, don jones and dave nelson?

    3. Do you believe that our offense kept us in the games we were in last year, while our defense kept us in the games we were in this year?

take a look at the stats...its kind of disturbing.

    1. EJ was a rookie. Fitz' last season with the Bills was his 8th year in the league.

    2. Woods and Goodwin were rookies. In their last season with the Bills Donald Jones and David Nelson were both 3rd year players.

    3. This is kind of obvious.

Have you considered that besides what's been mentioned above that:

    4. The offensive line ultimately regressed and

    5. The entire offense was running a new offense as opposed to being in the 3rd year of Chan Gailey's offense?

More talent? More potential for sure. Also more inexperience at positions which are unkind to callow youth.

No Chan? That's a wash at best. Chan was a good offensive mind.

A much better comparison would be this year's team and the 2010 Bills when Gailey was in his first year.

  9. But why? Mesko has bounced around enough where you know what you are going to get. I don't think he would have been an appreciable upgrade over Moorman in the middle of the season. The time to really upgrade the position is in the off-season.

In the playoff game, he hit two okay punts, and then boomed the other one 10 yards through the endzone for a TB--so I don't think you can say a whole lot about his performance, other than being fairly average.

Well it was better than Moorman's performance!!!

  10. Is there an update on this?

Has anybody verified that Crossman is being retained? I haven't read anything except right here.

that we are about 10 days into the offseason, it seems like a pretty strong possibility even without a formal announcement that they are going to keep everything the same.

On the other hand, Dolphiins GM Jeff Ireland was fired today so the length of time since the end of the season may affect the likelihood of an outcome but there's still a possibility of Crossman being dismissed.

Jeremy White reported this on air? Is he even credible?

This is the one time a guy like Sully could redeem himself. C'mon Sully, push this thing.

  11. Jeff Ireland and the Dolphins part ways... :w00t: to phins fans :nana:

.... oh wait. 46-50 in 6 seasons, one playoff appearance 2008 (Parcells was still there) 6 players picked by Ireland in the first two rounds are no longer with the team  Now they might find a real GM.

And the Dez Bryant interview fiasco was Jeff Ireland, wasn't it?

  12. Marcel Dareus came into the NFL as a 20 year old.

I've posted before the incredible fact that even as a 3rd year player, he is only 6 days older than our rookie QB.

This kid has improved every year and I look for him to continue to improve and mature.

Kudos to Marcel on an excellent year.

  13. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Gruden.

Obviously (Thanks Doug!) the family name is an asset.

On top of that Jay Gruden has built a solid reputation.

On the downside he's currently being scrutinized for his advocacy of Andy Dalton over Kaepernick and Mallete. The leaks of these stories and their timing makes me think that he's on his way out in Cinci.

However if the Bengals are greasing the skids a bit, that lowers Gruden's leverage as he seeks a head position.

I wonder if he could be Ron Rivera'd.

  14. Watkins is 6'1. How do you compare him to A.J. Green?

Watkins reminds me of Percy Harvin, but taller. He has excellent ball skills, speed, and Y.A.C. ability. He won't be able to get all of the jump balls that Green/Calvin Johnson can snag.

I could be mistaken but I don't remember Harvin attacking airborne footballs the way Watkins does.

Watkins plays with an aggressiveness that's reminiscent of a (smaller) Andre Johnson or a bigger Steve Smith.

There's a real anger and edge to his game.

  15. If you think EJ has an INT problem you have your head in the sand. The guy only threw 10 picks on almost 400 throws his senior year, and did an outstanding job this year as an nfl rookie.

His only bad game was Tampa (4 picks) and if you watched the game you would know that only 2 of those were on him. He averaged less than one INT per game outside of Tampa.

    Think before you post.

And then there's the problem of comparing the rookie's interception percentage with that of a 9-year veteran.

Amusingly, the rookie's percentage was lower.

  16. I expect the Bills will try to sign Hughes to an extension.

I also think he'll see more snaps next year.

I think people who write him off as a one-dimensional pass rush-only guy are wrong.

The times I saw him in space he did not look out of place, considering he has very little playing experience playing back. People remember a broken play which resulted in Hughes vainly chasing a receiver down the field but that receiver wasn't even Hughes' responsibility. He realized that there was a breakdown and gave chase. He showed outstanding speed on that particular play but there were other plays where I thought he looked good in space.

Look for his percentage of snaps to increase next year, along with his pay.
