  1. Actually, I really don't understand the legality of the draft.  From a legal perspective, why can't I work for who I want to work for?   I realize the teams are part of an association whose rules require the members (the teams) to abide by the draft rules, but these rules would make no sense in a commercial employment context.   Most states are right to work states (New York is an exception) and you can work for whoever makes the best offer.  That would of course turn football into baseball with a half dozen big city teams having all the players (and the league enforces the draft to avoid that), but still that is our employment system in this country.

I guess my point is we are all free agents, all the time.   Why not stop the draft and have all the college guys be free agents day 1 ?  If I want Sam Darnold, why can't I go sign him?   Yeah the contracts of the best 20 guys would be out of control, but It would all work out in the end.   College football players aren't getting educations worth a crap anyway, so who cares if the NFL becomes the NBA in terms of underclassmen coming out?   it would all self correct as soon as a few 19 year olds get blown up playing in the NFL.  Thoughts?

  2. Trust the process.   if mcbeanes do not sacrifice this years and next years draft to get one of the supposed top guys, it will be for a good reason.  they're not watching NFL Network, they are doing real research on these guys.  We're just watching TV hype.

  3. I'm guessing Miller was screwed over by Dennison's silly run blocking scheme, but is a talented player.   I trust Greg Roman's assessment more than Rick Dennisons, so my sense is the guard position is in decent shape .  Groy to center, Miller back to starter and you have a starting lineup today that is decent.

I want everyone in America sitting down to watch the Bills on Sunday night. In Buffalo.

Bills bring lousy national TV ratings.   Why would the networks want the to put the Bills on prime time?    I'm a big Bills fan, but that's just because I'm from there.  The rest of the U.S. could give a crap about the Bills, right?   Would you be thrilled to watch a ariz/indy game indoors in the dome on Monday night right now?   didn't think so.. and the Bills are way less popular nationally than either of those teams.   so you can see why the media ignores the Bills.  Heck the once in a while football fan probably doesn't even think there's a franchise in the B Lo.  Is what it is.   If they start winning, that fixes it a bit, but it would take a lot of winning to get them back into multiple prime times, bc the networks have no interest in such a tiny market.   Just puttin it out there.

With the unfortunate Zay Jones incident the Bills are now less inclined to give away draft capital.

The list of needs has now expanded to both deep threat and slot receiver along with QB, CB, LB and DT.

Salary cap money is limited and what would be required to move up is too costly to give any of the picks we currently have.

I felt before this sorry excuse of public conduct that Zay would be much improved this year at the Slot receiver position.  Now we are looking at probably a 4 game suspension for conduct and possibly even worse if drugs are involved.

Its not all gloom and doom, outside of Darnold, the other three of the "big four" are flawed in ways that may not be correctable.

Give me Lamar Jackson at 12, the LB Vander Eshe or Evans at 22.  WR DJ Chark at 53, DT Harrison Phillips at 56, C Frank Ragnow at 65, CB Holton Hill at 96 and hopefully in the 4th WR Deshean Hamilton of Penn State

that works .  trust the process.   Jackson can play.   NFL teams can only be built to last via the draft

  6. he's too short to play in the NFL.   he's just too short.   after watching Taylor struggle with batted balls all year and trying to find openings to throw the ball through, my QB needs to be tall and stand tall and throw tall... you can't coach size.   B M doesn't have it for today's NFL.

  7. My guess is they keep most of the picks, grab a FA Qb at lower $$ and draft who is there at 10 or 15.   Not sure any of the QB class are worth blowing the draft to get to top 5 for.

    But I trust the process

Be prepared to be surprised. His contract will be in the neighborhood of the Davante Adams contract. The WR class is bad and there are teams with a ton of cap space that need WR help. He will end up with roughly $14M a year.

And what kind of deal will he get? Someone is going to overpay for his potential.

My bet is the Cowboys give him the stupid contract he's looking for. Dez hasn't been "Dez" for a couple seasons and they don't have much WR talent behind him either. Sammy seems like a natural fit for Jerry World.

I could also see the Chargers, Packers, Falcons, or Saints making bids for him.

glad he was traded.   McBeanes saw him for what he was, an above average talent who would leave in FA for HOF $$.

    trust the process

So "Tyrod can manage a game?"  He did  managed three points against the Jags. He is abysmal in the fourth quarter when the game is on the line. If your vision for the Bills is a perpetual 8 & 8 scenario, yes let's let Tyrod manage the game and use all our picks.

Well, this sounds like my my cue to speak up.   seems that both 1sts and our 2nd gets us barely to the top 10, leaves us with a high first , a second, third, a fourth and two 5ths.  If they really like a couple guys and one of them falls to 10, which could easily happen as all the QBs have some issue or other (there are no Andrew Lucks in this draft) , they have the ammo to go get him and still end up with 6 picks in the top 166 players.   That is a really good result,  get three starters in all likelihood and you get a QB you really  like.   and 8&8 Forever is no longer.   Agree?

  10. paying 20-25+ mil for a Case or a Foles just seems kind of crazy to me, when you can get an above average talent in the draft this year for $5m .. football revolves around the Qb, but i not sure about the old "QB carrying an otherwise average team" anymore... things seem to be evolving the other way, where a great roster can carry an above average QB at least to the conference title games.   what say you?   I say a great "Rest of the Roster" + Nate Peterman + rookie QB picked at 21 makes the playoff run 3 out of the next 5 years.  what say you?

I thought I remember reading (forget which site/article) that Miller suffered under Dennison's zone blocking scheme.  Miller is more of a straight ahead power blocker.

Yep.   Miller will be back now that the crazy stretch blocking crap has gone to where Rex's crazy D is.  the trash heap.

Totally agree.  Nevermind the fact we would have a known quantity vs. a total shot incthe dark when it comes to drafting QB.  We need allcthos picks.  Get Cousins then draft DL and LB with first 2 picks.  Get guard and wr in second round.  Resign Gaines in free agency and then Kyle to 1 year.

you'd have to gut the roster to sign Cousins, then you are Indy.  Nah, keep all the picks, cut TT get whoever drops to 21 and go from there.  Start Nate the skate next year until the kid is ready to go.   Hell, f ing Nick Foles was SB MVP bc he had a great roster around him.   Bortles was in the conf title game.  why?  bc he had a great roster around him.

Indy sucks bc all their $$ are tied up in one injured guy.   Trust the process.  They won't fall in love with one guy and over spend for him.   It's just not what they do.  They'll keep their picks and their $$ and build the roster like they have so far.  Its a team game.  Bills still a couple years away from contending.
