  1. Your point may be true. I don't understand why the entire team including the Quarterback would hide a injury? We were certainly not challenging for dominance in the league. Were we afraid of big bad opposing lineman zeroing in on our Quarterback? That's what backups QB's are paid for. Do you risk further injury to your 59 million dollar man? I doubt it. Then again thigpen can hardly be called a quality backup.

For the first 7 games Fitz passer rating was 98.4 and the Bills had a record of 5-2.

After Fitz was hit in Toronto, he was just terrible down the stretch – throwing 17 ints to 10 TDs with a passer rating of only 65.2.

Not sure, but it looks like Gailey must have thought Thigpen could not come in and contribute.

So what happens? The Bills to lose their next 8 out of 9 games.

Who is to blame for the lost season? Chan is to blame.

Letting Fitz play hurt and stinking it up and not having an adequate backup QB is the coaches fault.

  2. The point is that even as bad as our team has been over the last decade or so, being a Bills fan is better than being a Dolphins fan, or a Jets fan, or a Patriots fan.

sounds like the bills new marketing campaign is underway...which probably has little chance of working because there is only one NFL team that has not made the playoffs over the last decade or so...

  3. Here are some handy facts:

    2009: 6-10 Overall, 2-4 Division

    2010: 4-12 Overall, 1-5 Division

    2011: 6-10 Overall, 1-5 Division

For every item that suggests improvement, there's one of equal or greater value stating otherwise. The Bills are 2-10 in the division since the Nix/Gailey regime began. And if the easiest way into the post-season is to win your division, that's not cutting it. I can remember when people were ripping on the Dolphins for being so bad, yet they defeated Buffalo twice, as did the soap opera Jets.

I would also argue the division is now weaker than it was in 2009-10 with the Jets getting older and not getting solid QB play. Miami are not world-beaters and NE's defense isn't as dominating anymore either. Still, there's Buffalo at the bottom of the division and out of the playoff picture by week 12.

How can anyone not want Chan to be the man for as long as possible - he was able to beat New England this year which no other coach has been able to do in the previous 15 tries. That alone is better than a .500 record or making the playoffs - right? Really, fans expect way too much.

On a serious note, here is a question: name all of the NFL teams that have not made the playoffs since 2000.

  4. Fitz, to me has not looked any different (since the Toronto game) than Trent or JP, but since CHIX signed him up for a big contract, it doesn't matter how bad he is - right?

Also, when watching Fitz during the last game, he is no better or worse than Kelly Holcomb - instead of thinking he would make a play, you ended up thinking he would cost you a play.

  5. Topps i think had it 2 years back. Not just the highlights but the whole game. I wish someone would put a clean copy of the No punt game on DVD.

I was there for that one and it was total Bills glory. There had to be 4,000 Bills fans that stayed after the game waiting for the team buses to leave

candlestick. Bruce even did a lap after pre-game warmups because everyone was screaming BRuuuuce. The 49er fans were an accommodating bunch that day.

note to TBD: how about buying some of the comeback DVDs for sale the camp tent (since you have been playing them inside when you walk in) or are you afraid that fans will see the good Bills of yesteryear and realize even more how bad today's Bills are? You would think that the Bills would own the rights to their own game and would be able to stock some DVDs - right? :wallbash:

  6. ...here is my two cents:

OUR NEEDS (number means importance - assuming scale is 1 -10):

QB (with brains and an accurate strong arm...Manning/Kelly type) - 9

Pass rushing DE (the Bills do not have one) - 8

Pass rushing LB (the Bills do not have one) - 8

    Offensive Tackle - 7

Shutdown CB (do the Bills have one?) - 7

    Defensive coordinator - 7

Strength and conditioning (the whole team would benefit from better conditioning) - 7

Offensive coordinator (it might be better to have someone dedicated to just this) - 6

Deep threat WR (do the Bills have one?) - 4

  7. I understand what Mr. Wilson is saying. That it might take a 'several more years' to build a contender. In principal I have no problem with that statement. But in the context of the Bills the problem is we've heard this before. And the recent history of the team has not rewarded our patience.

So why is this time going to turn out different?

...it is going to be different this time because fans are really going to get a kick out of Bills football:

  8. There is not a DE or LB worth taking in the top 15 what we should do is trade up with either the Rams, Vikings or Jaguars & draft Robert Griffin III & start looking at the future there are 4 good WR that have top 10 value but you can always find value LB,DE & WR in later rounds but your not going to find player like RG3 every draft

We can't keep ignoring that since Jim Kelly we haven't had a franchise QB, just look at all the playoff team other than the 49RS all have franchise QB & if we want to be a contender you have to take chances & trading this years one, 2013 one & escond in 20014 is worth the risk, you keep playing safe your never going to succeed

Not sure if it is playing safe or just some bad choices during the draft. This team is so devoid of talent/depth/strength & conditioning/QB/pass rusher (the list goes on...).

The Bills record these past 11 years speaks for itself...and don't be surprised if 2012 is the last year of CHNIX & company where the coaching carousel continues to spin like a wheel stuck in mud. If past coaching actions are any indication, anything less than .500 next year will likely mean Chan will be out another cycle of "rebuild" with the new coaches "guys" starts again.

  9. Question: when was the last time a bills number one pick actually made an impact or a distinct difference in during their first season (like almost pro-bowl type play)? This means that they made plays that worthy of the highlight reel and their play was critical in terms of contributing in winning games....and like the announcers of the game would actually mention their name (that might have happened less than five times this year with Dareus) more than once.

  10. Just talked to my buddy who is good friend's with Fitz's doctor - take it for what it's worth but he said he has had a broken rib since Toronto.....

This might be the case (thanks to London Fletcher), but Chan should not have dropped five games because of it. How can Fitz with cracked ribs be better the next guy in line is beyond me...the coaching staff should have an adequate backup at QB.

  11. Bob Matthews is an old grouchy writer from Rochester, NY but in his column in the D and C a few days ago he RIPS Ralph Wilson and says that Bills fans aren't to blame for team blackout. This is a great article:

    http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20111204/SPORTS0101/112040356/Buffalo-Bills-blackout-fans?odyssey=mod|mostview

Buffalo Bills' fans not to blame for blackout

The good and the bad about today's western New York TV blackout of the Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills game:

I'd like to point out that NFL fans will get to see a better game on CBS, but the New York Jets at Washington is no bargain.

Buffalo home games Dec. 18 (vs. Miami) and Dec. 24 (vs. Denver) also figure to be blacked out. Maybe fans in WNY will be offered better matchups than the Jets vs. the Redskins.

...[Ed: Copyright -- Do not quote entire articles]

This was written/spoken before the Tennessee game and mostly the point made on the radio was that the Bills received a raw deal by having so many home games scheduled after Thanksgiving.

  12. Always bet with your mind not your heart.

    MIND= FISH

    HEART= BILLS

Sorry, I'm putting $$ on Miami. Sux but I don't think this team can win. DB's are the worst in the league. Its astonishing. I predict 1 more win for a 6-10 dumper and I don't think that will happen this Sunday. Get the win vs Titans Dec 4. The rest will suck a$s.

my mind says this is a pick game and one thing is the stadium is usually half-full with Bills fans when Buff plays in Miami. :)

  13. This is obviously a must win. Not only for the playoff hunt, which amazingly they're still very much alive, but to show the fans that they've got answers to the problems of the last two weeks.

It's clear what the jets and Cowboys did to beat us: press our WR's, keeping their LB's in the box. Thus impeding our WR's from getting open in that vital first 2 seconds of the play, and it also takes away the screen to Freddie because there's more guys in the box rather than in coverage.

This is where Gailey needs to find his offensive mojo again and mix things up. The solution isn't simple, but it's necessary if we want even the slightest shot at the post season.

The Bills gave up 433 yards to the Cowboys and it was the sixth time this season the Bills D has given up 400 or more yards. As far as the bandwagon goes, my summer prediction of 9-7 may be in danger (I guess the bandwagon is still full, but has been busy carting players off to IR).

What strikes me is that Fitz has not been himself and hasn't been for a couple of weeks now since the London Fletcher hit. It looks like he has been playing with limited ability and that does not bode well for the Bills if he is playing with broken ribs or something like that.

  14. ...Most were saying at the start of the season that the Bills would be lucky to finish 8-8... they still might be. @ Miami-@ Jets- Tennessee at Buffalo-@ San Diego-Miami at Buffalo-Denver at Buffalo- @ NE

Buddy Nix needs to scour the waiver wire and other teams practice squads like he did last year and bring in some help. Gailey needs to figure out how to get that passing game going again, stack the receivers, more tight ends, no huddle...something

Now that there is film on the 2011 Bills, you are right that Gailey needs to be creative and make the best out of what he has left to put on the field - which includes bringing experienced help in.

You would like to think that when a roster spot opens up, that there is already a plan already in place to back-fill the position - like implementing a disaster recovery plan - where if you lose part of your production capability, you have a plan in place to get back online.
