  1. Taylor's strength was that he was consistent in getting sacks. In his prime Taylor was a beast who you could pencil in for 10 plus sacks a year and he forced fumbles. Keep in mind what drives up Taylor's value is that he was the pass rush in Miami there was a lot of years that he was their only pass rusher so he got all those sacks despite many double teams and ineffective players around him.

 Taylor's best attribute is his consistency.

  2. For those who bought their induction seats through the hall, did they mail the tickets yet? I can't find mine but maybe I'm an idiot and they didn't mail them yet.

I ordered induction tickets and game tickets and I don't think I've gotten either yet.

  3. Hey look everybody, it's the biggest load of sh-- excuse coming around for yet another run up the flagpole! It's really not Dick's fault, it's the players! A 7 out of 8 losing season record begs to differ and screams you suck BADLY as a head coach. Dick Jauron is one of the luckiest men on the planet to still have an NFL head coaching job.

Oops my bad, I forgot about all of the hall of fame players on the Dolphins and Falcons that propelled them to the playoffs last year.

True. But they both had some pretty good QB's last season.

  4. I am special aren't I? Most seem to understand my point - (I guess those are the one's who saw the suicidal responses at seasons end) - How does a team change so little in the offseason for the better, and yet, somehow generate the excitement this team does? Fens in Ontario? Signing TO? Brandon is amazing. As your whitty retorte and my unabashed sarchasm, all in good fun. Again - Fans were on the verge of a complete walkout of the last game and swearing off this team...we go from that to crawling up to record sales again in a scant 3 months??? All in the face of a suspended star RB, losing your best O-Linemen, keeping a milk-toast head coach, brining in a locker room cancer and talking about adding games in Toronto? Unqualified success for the marketing team at One Bills Drive. (And if I have to go over the economy...never mind).

I understand where your coming from. More than half of us said we were done when Jauron was retained. And I think we all envisioned a better season.

But unfortunately this city has very little to offer outside of football. No matter what, most of us have renewed season tickets. The problem is we are telling Raplh and whoever else who may own this team in the future that no matter what they do we will put up with their sh-- because we'll be back no matter what next year.

  5. Found this on a Rams message board:

Updated: St. Louis Rams release Pisa Tinoisamoa

    By Jim Thomas

    St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Coach Steve Spagnuolo likes bigger linebackers, and one thing Pisa Tinoisamoa lacks is size. The Rams have released the veteran linebacker, who led the team in tackles last season with 135, but really doesn't fit into Spagnuolo's overall vision for the defense at 220 pounds.

With the move, Chris Draft likely will move over to man the starting strongside linebacker position and second-round draft pick James Laurinaitis becomes the starting middle linebacker.

"This was a difficult decision based on a lot of factors," Spagnulo said in a statement released by the team. "I have a great deal of respect for Pisa and wish him all the best."

Tinoisamoa, 27, was a second-round draft pick by the Rams out of Hawaii in 2003. That season, he became the first rookie in franchise history to lead the team in tackles. He registered 121 stops for the Rams' 2003 NFC West division championship squad. He also led the squad in stops in '04 (with 145) and '05 (with 134).

At his best, Tinoisamao played with speed and passion. He could go sideline to sideline, and wasn't afraid to take on blockers _ be they fullbacks or 330-pound blockers. But he had a tendency to overrun plays, and while willing, frequently would get wiped out by those bigger blockers.

Hand, knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle injuries struck in '06 and '07, forcing Tinoisamoa to miss 12 of 32 games. But he stayed healthy last season, playing all 16 games for the fourth time in six NFL seasons.

Tinoisamoa was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent following the 2006 season, but five games into that campaign he signed a $24.7 million contract extension through 2011. This coming season, TInoisamoa was scheduled to make a base salary of $3.25 million and count $4.25 million against the cap.

Releasing him frees up $2.25 million in cap space. Once they sign their rookies and pay off some incentives and escalators that kick in on other contracts, the Rams would have been tight against the cap prior to Tinoisamoa's release.

Tinoisamoa basically became a man without a position when the new coaching staff decided to switch Will WItherspoon from middle linebacker to Tinoisamoa's weakside linebacker spot earlier this offseason. With Laurinaitis and Draft in the middle that left only the strongside position for Tinoisamoa.

The strongside position frequently requires the linebacker to take on tight ends, and at 220 pounds, Tinoisamoa is far from ideal size for that role.

Barring the addition of another veteran in free agency, the Rams are paper thin at the position, at least in terms of proven talent. Current backups Larry Grant, David Vobora, Chris Chamberlain are fringe players. Quinton Culberson opened the 2008 season at strongside linebacker, but played poorly and was replaced by Draft in the lineup after just three games.

Great find. This guy really looks like he could be a steal. It makes sense as to why the Rams let him go but he's exactly what the bills are looking for.

  6. The "new and improved" McCargo hasn't played a game yet either. How many guys are in shape but don't play well. The NFL is full of them.

Good point. And as stated above this is a contract year. We'll see how he plays once August comes around.

  7. If he did so well why did Buffalo draft a first round pick to replace him? Wood? Because he was the best lineman on the team? He might have been Buffalo best interior lineman (that is not saying a whole lot). He is a below average guard. I hope he strikes gold at right tackle. If he is there on opening day I will root for him. Fact of the matter Buffalo traded JP and did not replace him in the draft. Kept Butler and drafted a player to replace him. Many post and articles I have read this offseason have left me with the opinion that Buffalo wants Demetrius Bell to win the Right tackle position. I am not sure if he is ready to do that yet. So Butler might squeez another year out of Buffalo's vault, but he will never be more than a journeymen lineman.

Wow! Ok he's f'ing with us.

  8. Nic Harris was pretty well known. Not necessarily be the draft sites as of late cause it wasn't clear he had a true NFL position. Similar situation to Kevin Ellison.

Yes, Harris was well known. And he was a great pick for a 5th rounder. I just think Freeman also was a great option for us.

  9. People have heard of freeman, thats why he's the "better" prospect.

Did you ever think there might be a reason Freeman is mentioned more often? Not only is Freeman bigger, faster, and stronger, he had way better stats in college than Harris.

I'm so sick of people assuming that because a player is well-known everyone that likes him is an idiot that has just heard his name before.

  10. Is is as one poster stated: Solid. I'm not so sure he'll ever be more then that, which is too bad.

However, if we build a top 5 defense around him he might excel as a leader on this defense, he has the right qualities to be a leader but not a star.

I think that's a huge problem with this team. Our leaders show good qualities of leaders but not the talent many leaders possess.

  11. Have you ever played the game of football and played it with a seperated shoulder as Donte Whitner did last season?????????? The guy was playing hurt and was trying to get an angle on him to avoid further injury which happened anyway. THe guy has been the teams #2 2006 and #3 2007 in tackles on this team when he is 100% healthy. I unlike some here do not think he sucks and understand his problem last season was the seperated shoulder and if he comes back 100% healthy this season then we will see.

How can you guys be so quick to defend the brittle regressing skills of TRent and use the concusion as an excuse for him but dont us a seperated shoulder as an exuces for a person who needs to health shoulders to make hits and tackle????? :wallbash:

Hmmmm. Yes I have played organized football my whole life, injured too.

So what your saying is that if you walk on the field injured your not expected to perform. That is rediculous. There was a million ways he could have approached hitting Morris while protecting his shoulder. He's just not a great tackler. And once again I said that play isn't the reason he sucks, but hurt shoulder or not that was embarrasing.

  12. Why are you guys making this more difficult than it is?

Passing down = Whitner SS Byrd FS

Running down = Witner FS Scott SS

Everything in between = contingent on the formation- could see Whitner at Nickel CB with Byrd and Scott Behind him, Whitner could be the ONLY safety on some plays, and on others he could be one of three.

Seems to me that Byrd gives us the leverage to put the BEST players on the field for THAT situation.

OK cat your post makes some sense but here is my problem with it.

Your post assumes that it is clear to see when a passing play and running play are going to occur. Who's in when it's unclear of a pass or run situation? Yes I know you have a formula for everything in between, but of course I have a problem with it.

Whitner at the nickel? I could only see that if Youboty is hurt (which will most likely happen.)

And if that's the case I think Bird should play the nickel. It is his natural position and he should play well there.

I think the original poster means, on that depth chart who should be #1 at SS and FS?

  13. Why does everybody use the Sammy Morris play as evidence that Whitner sucks? Donte got nailed squarely on his injured shoulder on that play and he crumpled just like anybody here would have. Admittedly he was preparing to make a pretty badly formed tackle but again whats the point in citing just one play?

Nobody is using the Sammy Morris play as to why he sucks. His mediocre stats and lack of play making ability do that on their own. But since we are on the topic, did you actually watch Whitner on that play? He did nothing to show he was a hard hitter, he got in front of Morris and waited to get run over. That is never a characteristic of a hard hitting safety.

And comparing Whitner's play to the people on this board is pretty funny. That's when you know he's not that good. You don't say any other player would have crumpled, you say every other fan on a message board would.

  14. I just don't understand why Scott shouldn't be on the field. He is the best run defender we've got in the secondary, and watching him shut down two of the greatest tight ends this game has seen in Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez, one on one all game long, and also Kellen Winslow, he is extremely important in pass coverage also. There is NO ONE in this league that has been able to shut down TEs like he has. I don't understand how he shouldn't be playing.

I couldn't agree with you more. Scott was great last year and the bottom line is that he out-performed whitner. I don't care if whitner is bad, ok, or great. Scott was better. He proved it last season.

And can someone explain what whitner has done in this league besides run his mouth and update his facebook status? He just isn't that good. There is no reason to believe he is the player they thought he would be. He has proved nothing in his three years in the league.
