Someone used to post a link here around this time of year regarding buying a Christmas gift for Children's Hospital. Does anyone else remember this? I've done a few searches here, but I can't find the original post.

thanks.

Ha! Thanks for the reminder!!! :P:P:lol:

It's called "Child's Play" and it's a charity designed to get video games in the hands of sick and ostensibly bored little kids. I petitioned the operators to get Women & Childrens hospital on the list a few years back.

It's a great charity run by the guys at www.penny-arcade.com, a popular web-comic for gamers (in fact they even have their own game now, available for PC and on the Xbox Live Marketplace). The deal is, the hospitals (all over the US) put up wish lists for the kids in the hospital, which are set up on Amazon.com. You purchase stuff from the wish list and it's delivered to the hospital. The wish lists have all sort of things ranging from games and hardware, to movies and accessories, and there is something for nearly every budget.

I encourage everyone to participate.

Also, here is a wiki entry:

edit: If you are on the fence about making a donation, read the letters:

That's good stuff. Also, DeLacy Ford is having their annual toy drive for Women & Children's Hospital (for those more inclined to donate low-tech toys). In either case, a great way to spread the Christmas Cheer to those most deserving kids.
