Roscoe Parrish’s record-breaking day in the Bills Week One victory over Seattle was too impressive to ignore as he was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Wednesday.

This is the second time Parrish has been awarded Special Teams Player of the Week honors in his career. The first time came back in 2006 in Week 12 against Jacksonville when he had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Parrish’s 63-yard punt return for a touchdown last Sunday was the third of his career tying a team record previously set by Keith Moody. That return also broke the all-time franchise record for most punt return yards in a Bills career previously held by Jeff Burris (1,045 yards).

The electrifying return man would finish Sunday’s game with 120 punt return yards, which broke his own team record for most punt return yards in a game (104) set back in 2006 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Parrish now has 1,110 career punt return yards, and is the league’s defending punt return yardage leader after posting a 16.3 yard average a season ago.

Buffalo’s last AFC Special Teams Player of the Week was Rian Lindell who was awarded the honor after his five field goal performance in the Week 13 victory over Washington last season in which he also provided the game-winning field goal with four seconds left on the clock.
