I was quite surprised by her "attack dog with lipstick" description of herself... Do Americans really want an attack dog for VP?!

Certainly not one who supports book banning and doesn't have the mental capacity to believe in evolution.

Since you were too lazy to read the whole thread...I'll repost it:

From Media Matters...

Obama was the primary sponsor of 152 bills and resolutions introduced in the last Congress. These included bills to create a federal standard for renewable diesel fuel (S.1426), to improve benefits and services for members of the armed forces and veterans (S.3988), and to direct the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to establish guidelines for tracking spent fuel rods (S.1194).

Obama has also introduced a number of bills in the 110th Congress, which convened on January 4. Among the bills Obama has recently introduced, one would "improve benefits and services for members of the Armed Forces, veterans of the Global War on Terrorism, and other veterans." Obama introduced another bill "[t]o promote the national security and stability of the economy of the United States by reducing the dependence of the United States on oil through the rise of alternative fuels and new technology."

If you want more, I can list more... however it would be a very long post.

Pelosi is a typical People's Republic of Kalifonia care bear that wants to coddle us all into her vision of Utopia..ie Socialism.

And republicans are the party that called people upset about the economy a bunch of whiners or from Huckabee's speech "I'm not a Republican because I grew up rich. I'm a Republican because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life poor, waiting for the government to rescue me." Yes, us democrats... we're all about getting and receiving handouts. We just wait for the government to rescue us. What a D-bag.

Obviously you lack reading comprehension or chose not to read the whole thread. I know he sponsored 152 bills...but only one made into law...a useless bill about the Congo.

Barack Obama has sponsored 136 bills since Jan 4, 2005, of which 122 haven't made it out of committee and 2 were successfully enacted. Obama has co-sponsored 653 bills during the same time period.

Sponsoring a bill is not the same as writing/initiating a bill either. Almost every bill has numerous sponsers, it a way to get your name attached to legislation without actually doing anything, except maybe giving a speech on the floow at 6 o'clock when everone else is gone.

Of those bills, how many got passed? How many did he reach across the aisle and get the other side to vote for? Writing is for authors. Politics is about swaying people.

This is true. With that being said one could look at the over 1,000 co-sponsored bills McCain has and what state they sit.

I wasn't talking about Mccain. In fact I am of the opinion that of the 4 people on the 2 tickets, Palin is actually the only one to have really done anything, and the only one qualified.

Really? Who called them whiners? I agree with Huckabee.

Whose the D-bag me or Huckabee? I'm not a Republican either. I'm an independant. I am for the anti-Obama though. The guy just does not seem real to me.

And to me, that is sad. It's sad that people want to trust that position and the possibility of the Presidency if something happened to McCain with someone with that flimsy background. Hell, my high school was a quarter of the size of her town. I also found it to be in bad taste that she blasted Obama being a community organizer, putting that down. Quite sad.

Going back to your earlier post "Obviously you lack reading comprehension"... Unless I mention you by name, which I didn't, then I was labeled Huckabee as a d-bag. And so you agree with him that (paraphrasing) people who are not rich are waiting for government hand outs? McCain seems real to you?

Former Senator Phil Gramm advisor to Senator John McCain was quoted as saying that the United States was only in a “mental recession” and that it had become a “nation of whiners.”

Fine you got me, I didn't read the whole thread. Also, a quick search on the www.gpo.gov reveals that only about 6 or 7 pieces of significant legislation has been signed into law in the last two years. This does not include appropriation bills where often significant legislation is passed with amendment.

As a junior Senator, Obama is unlikely to have been a major sponsor of much more then two pieces of legislation. The real interest should be in his amendments. I have not read them yet and but I would guess most as a junior senator will be focused directly on his constituents.

The fact that he is on two major pieces of legislation is significant.

If you play in a fantasy congress league (where you pick your team of legislatores; there is a huge site somewhere that organizes the leagues), you'll realize that sponsoring and co-sponsoring bills is the junk-filler stat. Anyone can sponsor legislation - just look at Kucinich and his daily impeachment bills. Getting them out of committee, reconciled, and passed is the accomplishment that gets you points.

Simply sponsoring them is valued about the same as attendence.

Sure, sure, registered independent, but your posts alre hardly that. I am not an independent, I admit it. Besides, stating that you are an independent just means you are uninvolved. So I am not saying join the Ds or Rs. But get involved with what you believe in and stop waffling on the independent fence.

Most people, even when they claim they are independent are really an uninvolved D or R because they don't have the stomach for politics. But they still vote consistently with one or the other, so I am not buying your claim.

No just poor Democrats (I kid). I think what he meant is you can't expect government to care for you. America is a land of oppurtunity if you work your ass off, you will be rewarded. There are many avenues to get out of poor situations. You can do what I did and join the military. Onward and upward from there. McCain is real. He's been a navy pilot (anyone who has landed on a carrier has resolve and nerves of steel), a commanding officer, a much more experienced senator and has shown courage under extreme duress. I think his biggest endorsement wasn't from Palin, Huckabee, Thompson or anyone else but the guys in the POW cells next to him. If they had said he was a quiter fine, but to this day they stand by him. Says enough about him to me.

Heu.... your "debate" about Obama and his work in the Congress leaves me a little stunned... Do you really consider the talent someone has or has not to write bills and laws makes him more or less competent to be the President of the USA? Last time i've checked nobody has ever asked a President to write any law...
