MadBuffaloDisease
Colvin took less from the Pats than he was offered by Detroit. And I agree that the 49'ers will give him a huge offer since they have the most cap room in the NFL.
Hollywood Donahoe
Colvin took less from the Pats than he was offered by Detroit. I'm sure he's not the first to have taken less money to stay the hell away from that organization. And I agree that the 49'ers will give him a huge offer since they have the most cap room in the NFL. Plus there's the connection with his old coach Nolan.

True, but that wasn't the point. Plus there's the connection with his old coach Nolan. Yep. Also a great area to live in.
Hollywood Donahoe
True, but that wasn't the point. Let us recall, then, what the point was: When was the last time the Pats threw a large amount of money at any unrestricted free agent? The original question wasn't whether or not the Patriots had recently outbid EVERY team in the league for an UFA. It was whether or not they had recently given out a big contract to an UFA. $25 million is pretty big, regardless of what Detroit offered.

MadBuffaloDisease
Okay. I was arguing when the last time the Pats got into a bidding war for a player, which is what they're facing with Thomas. They've obviously thrown around big money for guys like Brady and Seymour.
