A bit of both, actually. ****SPOILERS**** Do not read further if you don't want the new FF movie possible plot ruined. You have been warned. He starts out as a bad guy. He is the herald of a world destroying being called Galactus. In order to spare his homeworld, the surfer agreed to become the herald, meaning he goes all over the universe searching for new planets for Galactus to devour. I believe that for the majority of the FF film, he will be the main villain. In the comics (The coming of Galactus, circa 1966 or so), the FF actually teach the Surfer about Earth and he learns about love and other such nonsense. He turns against Galactus and fights with the FF against him when he comes to earth. Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch falls in love with a woman named Frankie Raye who replaces the Surfer as Galactus' herald, becoming Nova. Since Frankie is in this movie, it would make sense that one possiblity of the film is the storyline of The Coming of Galactus. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
