Rosenhaus in Buffalo!!!

Recommended Posts

he was compensated for his stellar play for the last few years.

You don't give him a big new contract for past services.

Since he is already on the wrong side of 30, there is very little chance that he will continue to perform at an all-star level to justify a huge long term contract.

Bills will probably offer a contract which pays him at a high level for 2 years and then gives them an out.

oh really so you are saying that we shouldnt pay him for what he has done up to this point. We are not going to just sign him for 2 years it aint gonna happen. He will be released next year if they cannot workout a contract. Just because he is over 30 that means he will take a sh-- on the field. He has been the best player for Buffalo the past 5 years hand down.

we already paid him for what he did on the field.

You only pay him going forward if he can continue to produce for the bulk of the mega-deal he is looking for.

Since his forte is speed - he will likely start to lose a step in the very near future and become an average LB not deserving the big bucks.

Is that what your crystal ball says. He may lose a step. Do you have the lottery numbers to? You pay a guy for what he has done and if there is anyone deserving of the payoff it is Fletcher.

You DON't pay a player for what he has done for you. You pay a player for what you feel he can do for you during the length of the new contract. A club may very well based it's opinion of what the player may do for them by what the player did for them previously. The NFL is a business that happends to be a sport, and with the advent of free agency you look towards future productivity...just ask Eric Moulds, or Thurman Thomas, or Bruce Smith......

my only beef with Fletcher is he was one of the vets that did not make any OTA's, or at least I believe he did not make any OTA's

other then that Fletcher deserves to be resigned, the fact he hired Drew Rosenhaus has me thinking he is going to want too much money.
