Rethinking Greed

There was an article in the Boston Globe after the new CBA was reached which had some interesting glimpses into the process.

One of the Ravens guys, Cass, wanted teams that paid less than 52% (something like that) of their annual revenue on salaries to write a check for the difference, to go into the revenue pool. This would have meant that Snyder, whose salaries only represent about 40% of his club's gross revenue, would have to cut a check for about $30M! Didn't go over too well. :)

Snyder took a shot at Bengal's Mike Brown, saying he won't contribute money that goes to someone who pays a $1 a year for his stadium and operating costs.

Another Snyder remark (or 'snide remark' :) ) aimed at Bidwell was telling him he wouldn't give any money to someone in a good market who sells seats as low as $10.

Also, at one point, Jerry Jones offered to buy the naming rights of Brown Stadium from Mike Brown for $5M, telling him he could sell it for twice that.

Here's a link to the whole story, but you've got to register. Don't use bostonsucks as password - already taken :Phttp://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...g_force/?page=3

These boys are on the commitee to set the qualifiers for access to that new revenue pool their clubs, and 13 others, are funding. BTW, if money's left over, because not enough teams 'qualify' to deplete it, the balance goes back into the league to pay down debt. That debt includes the G-3 loans. ;)

Kelly, keep a good thought my man, but not for nuthin', Snyder's kind of greed is short-sided and is diametrically opposed to the survival of the current NFL. The NFL will evolve as predators such as Snyder ravage the landscape, creating a new and unattractive environment. Soon he'll find himself being cast aside by an even hungrier breed. None of this is good for NFL fans, let alone Bills fans.
