Before one criticizes a minority group, one should "walk a mile in their moccassins". Does anyone even care about the abuse the Natives have had to endure from about the time the Mayflower landed? Boarding schools anyone? Broken treaties? Needless slaughter of primary food sources? Demeaning portrayal in the media (remember the bad westerns of the forties and fifties?) Forced entrapment on 'wonderful' reservations that 'promoted' assimilation into the white culture, or die? After considering the previous, regardless of what your position is on this topic, can't you see why keeping a sports team's derogatory nickname may be offensive, and inappropriate? This isn't about being heckled in Buffalo for wearing your Ricky Williams jersey, then being really upset and having 'thin skin'.
