RIP James Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, age 97.

James Watson, who discovered the structure of the DNA molecule along with Francis Crick and Rosalind Franklin in 1953 died at the age of 97. Watson and Crick won the Nobel Prize in 1962 but Franklin  did not because she had passed away by then from cancer and Nobels are not awarded posthumously. Their discovery opened up a enormous field molecular genetics.
