The airlines share this info with each other Yes, the individual airlines ban people from travel based on extreme bad behaviour. If you are banned from one of the 26 airlines in the Star Alliance there's a good chance you are banned from all 26. It's not all alcohol fuelled ( a lot is), one of my friends banned a man a few years ago who was belligerent, swearing at any woman who was sitting in a window seat and telling them as a man he has a right to that seat and they had to move, then refusing to take his assigned seat and making it impossible for the plane to take off.
