Reality of This Season

Although it's painful for us to watch, this is all a part of their "process". I'm sure every HC in the league would love to destroy the cap and sign every high profile FA, and trade up in the draft. Reality is, GM's have to look after the team for the long term as well. Signing a few veterans would probably win this team a few games. This was often the case when Buffalo would win 7 or 8 games through the Gailey, Marrone, and Ryan eras; but ultimately we still missed the playoffs, and had worse draft picks come April. Although Buffalo's OL is absolute trash, Beane is rolling with it because he knows it is better in the long run if they have a top 3 pick in 2019, as well as a ton of cap room to sign some free agents. This team signing players right now to win 5 games this year will ultimately hurt us in the long run, not help us.

We all need to take a step back and understand where this is coming from. I'm sure Beane does not think Ducasse is a pro bowl guard, nor does he think that this team is built to win in 2019. It's going to be a VERY long year, but this is actually good for the long term. Let's try to make it through the next 15 games and we can enjoy (what should be) a pretty promising off-season.
