For example, look at the pickings to get the Tight End FA temporary player we'll have in camp while we see if Campbell and Euhus come back to form: TE Becht, Anthony---Jets, 27 years old and there's a cap problem in Jersey TE Gates, Antonio---fugettabowtit. Won't see daylight. TE Jones, Freddie---Cards, 30 years old TE Franks, Bubba ---GBay, 27 years old but they only have 2 FA's to deal with TE Lewis, Chad 3---Eagles, too old (34) TE Mili, Itula ---Seahawks, 32 years old TE Cleeland, Cameron---- Rams---29.5 good temp guy TE Dilger, Ken ---TBay---old (34) You have to think that the short list is Gates, then Bubba, Becht/Cleeland, then Freddie Jones. Would we pay top dollar to spring Gates or Franks? ------- Now look at Wide Receiver FA's (LN FN Age and Team) I left off anyone over 32: WR Taylor, Travis 25.9 Ravens WR Bradford, Corey 29.2 Texans WR Edwards, Troy 27.9 Jags WR Givens, David 24.5 Pats WR Patten, David 30.5 Pats WR Burress, Plaxico 27.6 Steelers WR Caldwell, Reche 25.9 Chargers WR Ward, Dedric 30.4 Cowboys WR Streets, Tai 27.9 Lions WR Campbell, Kelly 24.6 Vikes WR Wilson, Cedrick 26.2 49ers Know that NONE of these FA's ranked in the top 20 in ANY sortable statistic on stats.com Source Outside of Plexiglass and Givens, would you want a FA WR? BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 13, 2005 Share Posted January 13, 2005 I'd take Jones out of that TE list. He'll come cheaper then the rest and would be a great addition to our offense. A Soft hands guy and a former Pro Bowler who has been very underutilized in Arizona. As for the WRs, I'd be happy with either Looker, Wilson, Patten or Givens. Turns out he caught 1 pass for 8 yards in our game, averages under 10 yards per catch, and did that real good song "In A Daydream" that was on his Freddie Jones Band album. SouthTownBills51 Posted January 13, 2005 Share Posted January 13, 2005 I'd be happy with Franks as our TE opposite Campbell..and Corey Bradford as our slot reciever with Moulds and Evans the 1 and 2 recievers..but Euhus was coming on there before the injury..
