Guest BlackBenny Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Loved seeing Carrol screw his team out of a playoff win with his last second time out call. That was PRICELESS! Atlanta MISSED the kick, but thanks to carrol's time out, they got anther chance. He made the GAME WINNER on his second try. That was justice for NFL kickers. I think that rule should be changed. The defensive team should NOT be allowed to call a time out once the field goal team lines up on the line of scrimmage for the kick. That's bull. I think the rule should be: They can call a time out to ice the kicker, as long as the field goal team isn't lined up on the line of scrimmage. I agree with letting them call a time out to ice the kicker. That would give the kicker more time to think about the kick, and maybe make him nervous. But once he's ready to kick and they are lined up, no time out should be recognized.
Captain Hindsight Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 What if the defense has 12 men on the field?Just because the offense is lined up they can't kick it? What if they have to discuss the fake FG option?
Fezmid Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I actually thought there should've been a delay of game penalty on the Falcons. The whistle clearly blew. Players were moving around. But the snapper snapped the ball and they kicked the ball anyway - after a lot of hesitation about "should we or shouldn't we?" He obviously did it as a practice run, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Carrol was complaining about.
