Kingfish Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/07/report-eagles-lukewarm-on-asomugha/ Apparently the Eagles aren't very interested in Nnamdi Asomugha because he's a only a "Right CB"-what exactly is the difference between a Right CB and a Left CB?
K-9 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous! Fundamentally, there is no difference between an RCB and an LCB. Inside/outside technique is still inside/outside technique, press is press, various zones are various zones, etc. Perhaps some CBs "prefer" to open up a certain way but a good corner can play either side and should be able to rotate his hips regardless of what side he's on. Perhaps it has more to do with the schemes the Eagles play and maybe they prefer certain corners doing certain things on/from certain sides. Until this post I had never heard of a team making the distinction. Interesting. EDIT: It occurs to me that, since the LCB would usually be playing on the offense's strong side, teams may want a different type for that position vs. the weak side. Still, there is no fundamental difference between the two positions. GO BILLS!!! Edited June 7, 2011 by K-9
