Marv's Neighbor Posted February 28, 2010 Share Posted February 28, 2010 I gave President Ford a ride home from Dulles Airport. The 70's were different times. No hanger-on's to meet him. Times were tough in the 70's and Nixon would fly commercial IAD-LAX where the USMC chopper would take him down to El Toro, where a limo would take him on to San Clemente. That was a couple yers before Ford was President. I remember him telling me what a great person Richard Nixon was. I never cared for Richard Nixon so I just let him talk. Ford was a very nice down to earth guy, not at all like what we have today. I met all the 2008 Presidential Candidates. Obama was such a phoney! He had a chartered 757 that had an executive seating configuration between doors 1 & 2 but from door 2 to the tail it was a cattle car. He used to have his publicity pictures taken in the cattle car section, giving the impression that he was hard working but he rode up front! McCain is even older looking in person.
