  1. Jeez, Dante is not impressed with Obama... does anyone find that shocking? Funny how you get your panties in a wad over the conservative vs Repulican issue, but then lump Clinton and Obama together... you seem a little bitter that Obama is being treated like a "rock star"? So, since it is okay for you to lump everything together, why can't we just say, you conservative, Republican, Bush lovers have your ugly little fingerprints all over this current mess? What did Obama do to you (and so many others here) that has you so condescending and sure that he won't amount to anything? What do you have to compare him to? George W Bush?

Truth is all politicians suck. Conservative vs liberal, right vs left, republican vs democrat, whatever you call it they are all very well to do people trying to keep their jobs. The only real concern they have is getting elected from one term to the next and staying in power. We have term limits on the presidency but not in congress. Why not? I would like to see all incumbants voted out. Send a message to all politicians.

  2. 1) Learn how to beat the 3-4 defense. 6-1 vs a base 4-3 defense and 1-8 vs the 3-4 base defense. Our entire division runs the 3-4 defense.

    2) I believe the Bills need a new attitude heading into next year. When Lovie Smith took over the Bears he came right out and said their first priority is beating the Packers. That is the approach we need to take with the Patriots!

    3) Upgrade talent at C, DE, DT, OLB, OT - Our center was the weak point of our O Line and it showed against the big NTs. Our D Line puts no pressure on the opposing QBs and gets run over when it counts. When we lose we lose in the trenches.

    4) Make some bold moves. Parcells first moves in transforming the Dolphins were to release Zach Thomas and trade Jason Taylor. The two faces of the Dolphins franchise. Jason Peters is a great talent but will be a problem and I question his motivation. Trade him for at least a 1st round draft pick this year. Roscoe Parrish is not a good WR but is an elite Punt Returner. Trade him for something. He has value and the offense can stop trying to get the ball in his hands for a 7 yard gain. Fred Jackson. Tender an offer to the RFA. Listen to offers. If something great comes up take it otherwise keep him next year and longer if possible. Trade/Cut Defense Captain and popular (inside the locker room)DE Chris Kelsey. He may be a workout warrior but it doesn't show on the field.

    5) Extend the field. Make defenses guard the entire football field and not just 10 yards from the line of scrimmage.

    Any other suggestions?

  3. To break it down further 6-1 vs a 4-3 base efense and 1-8 vs the 3-4 base defense. Our whole division is 3-4 along with Cleveland, San Francisco and SD. The only 4-3 we lost to was Arizona.

My question is why is it that much more difficult against the 4-3? Is it the fact that our center is awful and DTs get into the face of the QB and break down the pocket or is it because our QB has problems reading the defenses?

  4. Don't forget Center. After answering the QB question this is our biggest priority. We are 1-6 against the 3-4 defense with two more games to play. Every defense in our division plays this defense and we have lost every game of division play. Our center position is not good enough against good NTs. One of the first things Parcells did when he rebuilt the Jets was sign Kevin Mawae because nobody on the Jets could handle Ted Washington and stop our 3-4 defense. We need to take a page from the Parcells playbook and get someone capable of blocking Wilfork, Jenkins and Ferguson.

  5. another pathetic post. if you don't buy tickets - kiss ur bills goodbye.

    yes, i'll renew my tickets.

Given the state of the economy in Western New York you can still kiss your Bills goodbye. People and businesses/jobs have been leaving Buffalo for decades. It kills me but the Bills will be gone from Buffalo unless Western New Yorkers can turn their economy around and attract business/jobs into Buffalo. Since that hasn't happened in my lifetime I am not optomistic.

  6. If at the begining of the year I told you we would be 5-3 and in a three way tie for the AFC East would you take it? Let's put this back into perspective. We started 4-0 and looked great against some teams that really are not that good but as any young team should they beat the teams they should beat if you want to call yourselves a good football team.

In Arizona we ran into a buzzsaw and lost a team leader in the first 5 minutes of the game. Solid game vs SD after the by and then two awful losses vs division opponents.

Our division runs the 3-4 defense and our offense will have trouble against stud DTs like Kris Jenkins and Vince Wilfork. Jason Ferguson in his limited role still gave our offense enough problems because they all line up against our weakest links on offense, our center and right guard. This defense has also given Edwards troubles. Maybe it is because he can not step up into the pocket because of the line collapse or because there ar 8 people in coverage. Doesn't matter he needs to learn how to defeat it soon he will most likely see it again this week.

All that being said we are still 5-3 going into the second half of the season. We have 4 division games left so we still control our own destiny. We should be geting Aaron Schobel and Ashton Youboty back soon and getting our best pass rusher and nickel back back should help our overall defensive play.

  7. I think we will see some different things out of the Bills this week to give the Jets some fits. In the last few weeks it just seems like what we did was getting predictable. I'm guessing some odd formations like the one used when most d linemen are standing and then some drop back and play linbacker while we rush some linebackers. Maybe a trick play or two on offense to get Kris Jenkins moving around and try to tire him out.

After the performance in Miami I think the coaches will challenge the players to go out there and prove they are the team to beat in the AFC East.

  8. I see you are objective :( How about TD selecting Mike Williams over John Henderson, Albert Haynesworth, and Ed Reed? Sorry about logic, now please carry on with your hate

I was being objective. I just didn't have the time to look up all the drafts of Donahoe to see who was taken after the selections he made. The Williams pick was awful and when you pick at that position you can not miss. He clearly missed. But I believe the Losman pick cost us 3 picks including our 1st round pick the following season and the organization stood still while waiting for the player to develop. Missing on a tackle can put you back at that position for a year or two as you wait for them to develop but missing on a QB hurts the entire organization.

I'm not sure how I was going on with hate but I think my logic is fine. Missing at the QB position is more hurtful to an organization than missing at the tackle position.

  9. I don't think too many Bills fans would not acknowledge that TD did lay the foundation for the current team. The guys still on the roster who were a product of the TD era are as follows:

    Kelsey/Schobel/Denney/Crowell/McGee/Evans/Peters/Lindell/Moorman/Parrish/Reed

    /quote]

Sorry but as I look at this, these players are not that special.

Kelsey/Schobel/Denney - 3 2nd round picks and how many sacks between them. I understand Schobel is injured this year and he has been a solid player in the past but he is under sized and does get pushed around in the run.

Crowell - good player, probably a good find in the draft. I think he was a 5th round pick.

    McGee - Another solid pick.

Evans - maybe his best first round pick. The only problem is he used another 1st rounder on his worst first round pick JP Losman.

Peters - We were lucky he came to us. He was undrafted and had his choice of teams.

    Lindell/Moorman - good kickers

Parrish/Reed - a punt returner and an ok possesion wr. Both probably not worthy of their 2nd round pick.

We need a new center either way...I'm just sayin'.

I agree with needing a new center. I think the center position is the weak point of our line and it can be exposed in our divisional games vs the 3-4 defenses and their big nose tackles. Fowler has shown he can't handle wilfork from NE and I think if given the chance he will show he can't handle kris jenkins.

Why not give Preston his shot. Can someone tell me who is bigger?

    Thanks.

  11. Allright...lets not go into full blown panic mode just yet---at least until we hear how long Edwards is gonna be out for...

    What did we learn today?

    1) Bills D has serious trouble generating a pass rush with their front 4...this Cardinal O-line is barely average, and we couldn't even sniff Warner without sending blitzes....Schobel got handled quite easily by everyone's favorite whipping boy, Mike Gandy...unless they can get SOME type of pressure, our D could be in trouble...

    2) Losman shows he cannot be a starting QB in this league...he played pretty good in the 1st half, but then made more bonehead plays in 30 minutes than Edwards did in 4 games by a longshot...taking sacks, holding the ball 10 seconds, fumbling, throwing a bonehead INT right to a defender...I have complete confidence when Edwards is in the pocket...when Losman is in the pocket, I just wonder how many plays before a bomb goes off and he does something bad...

    3) Our Oline has serious protection issues, although Losman certainly didn't help...what ever happened to the line that picked up blitzes with ease last year?? They are getting confused way too easily and guys are coming free way too quickly with players trying to block them...although it appeared on the play that Edwards got knocked out on, that was designed to leave the safety free and Edwards seemed to hold onto the ball a little longer than he would have liked, although he completed the pass for a first down...

    4) We still can't run block to save our life unless the D is spread out and expecting a pass...

    5) McKelvin is trying to set an all time record for being tackled by the kicker on returns...oh yeah, he also has pretty poor instincts too...not sure how he set an NCAA record on returns, but I think it had something to do with him being a man among boys at Troy...

    6) Fred Jackson has a really shifty quality about him---just a real Thurman like slipperiness that makes him hard to tackle...he doesn't look like he is running fast, but then you see him getting tackled 10 yards downfield and wonder how he got there...he is also an excellent punt returner...not explosive like Parrish, but very slippery and finds the seams to run thru...

    7) We are in deep, DEEP trouble if Edwards is out for more than a few games...the team looked like the air was let out of them when Edwards was carted off...

    8) Hardy can run some nice slant routes...

    9) Lee Evans is really REALLY fast...

    10) Bills D is not as bad as it looked today...they generated no pass rush, and let a very good, but very rattleable QB pick them apart today. They did not attack at all and they paid for it. IMHO, as poorly as they played, they would have been much better served attacking instead of trying to play coverage...that may be their worst game of the season...they couldn't get off the field to save their life...

    11) The sky is not falling---No team is going 16-0 this year, and its better the Bills lost to an out of conference opponent than an in conference one...its the first loss of the season, but likely not the last---

    12) The Bye comes at a perfect time---hopefully Edwards and McGee will be back for the San Diego game, and they can work on things like pass-rushing from the D-line, O-line protections, and O-line run blocking....

    13) Don't read too much into 1 game...teams get blown out all the time in the NFL(even good teams) and then come back the next week and play well...it wasn't our day, and the Cardinals executed their gameplans to near perfection...even the super bowl Bills would go on the road and blown out sometimes....

    What I learned.

    1) We have no pass rush. Schobel has been invisable since his first pro bowl. Anybody know where Chris Ellis is hiding?

    2) The coaching staff didn't trust the cb's enough to blitz.

    3) Melvin Fowler can not hold his own. He doe not get any push and I believe that is why we have problems run blocking. Just wait until our division games against 3-4 defenses.

    4) We need a pass catching tight end.

That being said I think we are a good young team that is getting better. I still think we have a good sot at the playoffs

  12. Do great teams get blown out like this? Would you have had any hesitation predicting a great team to handle business in Arizona. Loss of starting QB or not, maybe a loss, but a blowout?

I'm sorry, I need to see more from the Bills to start getting excited about a playoff run

It does happen to great teams from time to time but not often. What will be more interesting will be how they respond to this loss. They are a young team so hopefully they will learn from this game.

  13. Look EII, I don't want to ridicule you, I can do that on the PP&P board  , but if you think high taxes have no effect on the economy in WNY you're fooling yourself. Buffalo is a nice place to live, but unless the leaders and citizens of the area radically change the status quo there nothing will change and the area will continue to die.

It is unfortunate since it is my hometown and most of my family still live there, but as the saying goes- It is what it is...

Buffalo is a great example that you can only tax business so much before they leave. Anyone wonder why businesses are leaving the US?

  14. Norwood made a pro bowl in a year when he converted something like 34out of 36 attempts (I think it was the year before the Cleveland playoff loss). Sounds great but our offense couldn't score when we won those close games because of special teams. If I had to guess he probaby only had 5-10 attempts longer than 45 yards that year. I would actually say it is a shame he made those kicks early on. If he didn't we would not have had a false sense that we had a good kicker and would have been looking for one that could hit a kick longer than 45 yards. I've always felt 45-50 yards is the minimum you want a kicker to be able to kick a FG.

Also, Reich was a good backup. As far as other memorable game from him the Rams monday night game was great.

  15. There were 324 passengers on that flight and I do not believe the full manifest has ever been shown on the show, but it's possible that Jeremy Bentham could have been one of the passengers.

Jack talked about how Locke visited him and Kate implied that he visited as well, so I don't think Locke is dead just because he is off the island. Or at least he did not die as soon as he left the island.

I think it's interesting that the island kept Michael alive even when away from the island, but not Locke. One scenario could be that Locke (or Ben) used that paralyzing drug from the Medusa spiders to give the appearance that Locke is dead, the same spider that bit Nikki and Paulo before they ended up being buried alive. This may all be a ruse to get everyone back to the island. Just a guess, but who knows...

I think Ben killed Locke. Ben, like Whidmore, now is searching for the island to get back. He will do whatever it takes to get there. As a sidenote, we truly do not know what Whidmores intentions for the island are. The only thing we know about Whidmore's intentions are what Ben told us.

Sun is out for revenge and wants Ben dead. I say she wants Ben dead because Locke may have visited her like he did with Jack and Kate and told her how the boat exploded.

Sayid promised Hurley he would not take him back to the island and Ben said they all need to go back to the island. Are they now working against each other or is Sayid lying to Hurley?

Last note, anyone else find it odd how in the battle of science vs faith that Christian (a former man of science) keeps revealing himself to people and delivering messages?

  16. Ever since last season, I've more and more come to believe that Hugo may be the key to everything. He's been tormented by the numbers for so long, and as you point out, he's the glue...and has been for a while now. I would not be surprised if we find out at the end that Hugo, not Jack or Locke, or even Ben, was the critical focal figure of all the people on the island.

Can you imagine if all this was a story made up in Hugo's mind? He is crazy.

  17. I just purchased my tickets for the home opener.I need some help to find a nice hotel some where inbetween Buffalo and Orchard park. Not looking to spend alot of money on the room but i don't want to stay at a dive either. We normaly take the travel trailer up and stay at Darien Lake but gas prices are a concern this year being I am traveling from Maryland. So if you locals could help me out here and tell me a nice place for me to stay that would be cool.

    Thanks

I'm not sure which route you take from Maryland but if you take 20A from Geneseo/ off 390N to Orchard Park I would stay in East Aurora. I believe there is a Hampton Inn there and the roads through OP will get you past most stadium traffic and on the road back home sooner.

  18. If you have already determined leasing is the best option here is what I suggest:

    1) Do not put money down. Yes you can get a lower car payment but that money is gone. You have nothing to show for it. If you finance to own it is different because you take ownership at the end of the term and have an asset. If you continue to lease and put money down you will throw away thousands of dollars in the course of your life. Would you give Alamo or Hertz extra money to rent a car for a lower payment?

    2) Drive your current leased car until the milage is expired. Then negotiate with the car dealerships as if you will make those payments until the lease expires and you can drive off the lot with their car today. When you feel like you are at the price you want have them take your car early. If they refuse and you can make the payments do that. If they refuse and you can't determine the difference between the milage overage you expect at lease experation and the difference in the monthly payment. The insurance hit shouldn't be to bad for a few months because the liability will be stretched between two cars.

    3) When the salesmen asks the price you are looking to get always give them a number $25-50 less than what you want. They will come close to your price.

    4) Hold firm on the monthly payment you want. There are enough dealerships out there. You will get the price you want.

Also, a final note but if your current lease is through a car company they may have added flexibility when it comes to milage overages.

    Hope that helped.
