They did double Jefferson - like the whole game. We sat in 2-man more than I’ve ever seen us before.

A more experienced DB in that 4th and long that Jefferson made that miraculous catch on in the Vikings game would have punched it out instead of trying to intercept it. A breakup on 4th down would have given us better field position than an interception. That would have basically ended the game.

he's not wrong. like ever. after having many good conversations with him - he does not BS. he knows the team. he knows the players . and his takes are usually on point.

he cannot discuss certain things due to two reasons:

    1) he does not want to jeopardize his relationships

    2) he works for the AP not the NYT or WAPO so he can't just BS a headline and write his own narrative. he has integrity with what he writes.

if wawrow is writing it down than it is so.

My communications with him after his 3:00am posts have been rather interesting and his extreme politics seem to guide his opinions.

Defense is part of the game. If a defense isnt forcing mistakes by good offenses, but also losing at points throughout the game, then what are you even watching?

Aside from win/loss column, I'd rewatch this game over the Steelers blowout 10 to 1.

I'm not so convinced that good defense is what won that game for the Vikings but bad defense or mistakes by the Bills that gave the game away. Cam Lewis and his lack of situational awareness when he tried to intercept that pass to Jefferson instead of simply knocking it down was absolutely egregious. Allen's interception in the end zone to end the game in OT was not forced and an absolute unnecessary throw.

  4. Reminds me of the Browns-Bills game 15 years ago in Cleveland. Nowhere near the snow that is predicted now but absolutely a terrible weather game. I went to that game with a friend who had season tickets in the end zone and two other guys. The wind was so strong and blowing directly into our faces that it was impossible to watch without tilting our heads downward. We all lived in Erie then and decided that leaving after the 3rd quarter was the prudent thing to do. We tried walking back to the car with the wind at our backs and that wind was so strong that it forced us to run. After turning 90 degrees we couldn't physically stand up without grabbing on to the parked vehicles. We finally reached our car and headed east to Erie but soon got off I-90 to try to find better weather on Rt 20 and then Rt 5. Visibility was so bad that all four of us were watching what we thought was the road and giving the driver directions. Once we went to the right of a car that we thought was on the road and it was actually off the road to the right. How we survived is a miracle.

it all comes back to whether we expect to be the #1 offense. Teams aren’t going to rush for 30 ppg on us. If we become a team that turns over the ball in the red zone then it’s a whole different conversation

the colts best defensive player was Peyton manning. That dude was a terrible run defender but racked up sacks and turnovers and never gave up a deep ball

my suspicion is the term starter won’t matter and that it’ll be package assignments with splits based on situation

Our defense is designed to compliment our offense when that offense is humming along. We saw that in the Packers game except we didn't do ***** in the 2nd half on offense.

  6. Let's look at the overall picture. The Bills are designed to get rolling and crush their opponents in the passing game. While their defensive line appeared to have solved last year's problems starting with the Packers game they allowed over 200 yards running. Few people watching or playing in that game could understand the Packer's strategy. They effectively shortened the game while being behind by 3 scores. Giving up rushing yards while being substantially ahead is most likely acceptable assuming that the Bills defense is protecting against the pass/deep pass. Now, we gave up what seems like a lot of rushing yards in both the Green Bay & New Jersey games. If our offense was doing what it was designed to do in the 2nd half of both games then there would have been less rushing by our opponents and more passing into a defense prepared for it. Neither of those teams were going to beat us in a shootout providing we were up to par with our offense. For whatever reason we couldn't score in the 2nd half of those games. In order to fix our defense we need to fix our offense. It would also be very helpful to get our injured defensive players back.

Like it or not the Bills are built around Josh Allen. As he goes, we go.

Don’t get me wrong. i don’t think either hit was illegal. I just know I would be livid if Josh took those same hits today with no flag, especially the Shaq one.

So, you think that a flag should be thrown for hits that weren't illegal?

Omalu is pretty much anti-football in general, so it's not surprising he's the one saying it.  There is no way in hell Tua retires now assuming he makes a full recovery from this concussion.  I could see it with another major concussion on the heels of this one, but my understanding is that this is the first major concussion he's suffered in his career.  People are right to be appalled at how the last two weeks played out for Tua, but this "he should retire" talk is way over the top, imo.

It would appear that he had 2 concussions within 4 days. The way he stumbled and collapsed after the Milano shove has to tell any reasonable person that it was his first concussion that we know about. The 2nd concussion was like too much of a "bump" and caution should be used before getting him back on the field.
