  1. With the passing of Tom Modrak today it brought to light yet another side of Russ Brandon that is deplorable. You see, good old Rusty has a penchant for coming up with crafty nicknames for his coworkers.

He referred to Tom Modrak as "T-Mo."

Yes that is correct, "T-Mo." In the past Russ has referred to Doug Marone as "Dougie" and Doug Whaley as "Whales." When the Sabres honored Brian Gionta recently for some reason they released a statement from Russ Brandon where he referred to Gionta as "Gio."

Memo to "Rusty" or "RB" or whatever nickname you give yourself,

You are nothing more then a carnival barker. Stop making up stupid nicknames for your coworkers. Your act has worn extremely thin in this town and most of the sensible Bills and now Sabres fans would love to send you packing. The Bills have sucked during your time with the team and you are never held accountable even though you are the Managing Partner and President. Go away and take your stupid nicknames with you.

  2. What happened to John Murphy? The Terry Pegula interview was the biggest fluff job I have listened to since the last time he interviewed him. Not one question about Tyrod and upcoming decision on his contract? Pegula has never been asked about the leaks that have been coming out of the Front Office for years. How about asking him what is the plan of the General Manager to turn this organization around?

John Murphy used to be a credible journalist and now he's turned into a company shill. I used to hold him in the same regard as Vic Carucci and Tim Graham but now he is in the same category as Chris Brown and Janet Snyder.

I'm so disappointed in this organization.

  3. Thank God someone is finally shining a light on RB. Most callers on talk shows refer to him as a "marketing man" when in reality he is the President of the Organization. He hired Marrone, he promoted Whaley, he led the coaching search that led to Rex Ryan being hired as he advised Pegula. His finger prints are all over the Football side of this organization. And now he hides and sends out Whaley with his talking points one of which was to say that RB is not involved. B.S.!

This guy is a snake and he needs to be fired. Whaley is in over his head.

    WAKE UP PEGULAS!

  4. Russ Brandon had a big role during the Watkins trade up. Whaley on Russ in trade talks with Jaguars - "He was the point person talking to Jacksonville. He had all the parameters set". People are fooling themselves if they believe Russ isn't involved in every decision. You can even see Whaley listing the trade parameters with Cleveland and Russ agreeing.

This video is a clear indication of why Brandon and Whaley should be fired. In hindsight I completely understand why Doug Marrone would bail on this organization with these two clowns running the show. It's like two kids when they do not have any parental oversight.

Blow it Up Terry & Kim. I'd much rather deal with a 3-5 year rebuilding process then bringing back Brandon, Whaley or Ryan.

  5. Remember when Russ told us the "Brand has been tarnished and its unacceptable" back in 2013. Well I remember and guess what Rusty. The Brand is still tarnished!

This guy deserves a One Way Ticket out of town not the title of Managing Partner and President. He knows nothing about building a winning football team and hiring the right people to do so. His track record speaks for itself. Buddy Nix, Doug Whaley, Doug Marrone, Rex Ryan and now he continue to advise the Pegula's about how to direct this franchise and who is qualified to do so.

We'll Rusty you are not qualified for this position and I hope you, Doug Whaley and Rex are all gone come January 2nd. However I know this will not be the case because you and Whaley have already started the finger pointing and this year it appears to be the coaches fault.

When will you be held accountable?

  6. A Message to the fans from Russ

Don't worry about the troubles our team is facing this season. We're working on Rebranding this thing, market the heck out of it and sell all you suckers on "hope" for next season. We'll move plenty of inventory in the process and the Pegula's will continue to buy my brand of ass kissing. We're going to line up some more commercials for Rex and Rob, Whales will trade up for some player he overvalues in the draft and he and I will be high fiving because we won another draft.

Rebranding, continuity, moving inventory, OneBuffalo, Kelsea Ballerini, Whales. Did I mention I won a World Series ring with the Marlins?

  7. The purpose of this thread was to point out that Russ Brandon deserves a fair share of criticism/responsibility as to the current state of the team. I did not state he is involved in personal decisions even though he has been in the past. He was directly involved in the hiring of numerous previous coaches as well as the promotion of our current General Manager. The Pegula's have stated they hired Rex Ryan but Russ Brandon was also involved in the interview process of all of the coaching candidates. He is not merely a Business/Marketing person in this organization. He is the Managing Partner and President.

He deserves as much criticism as to the current state of the franchise as Whaley or Ryan because he directly helped place those two in power. Brandon should have lost his job over the Marrone fiasco.

Because he is a "good guy" the press in this town has taken it easy on him.

  8.

Let me see if I get this right:

The team hired a new head coach, spent a bunch of money on players, had a ridiculous number of injuries, and then lost a road game where they were down their starting QB, top 2 WRs, #2 RB, 2 OLmen, and only other speed WR (note that they lost their backup RT during the game), so we should...fire the marketing guy?

    Nice.

Russ Brandon is not just "the marketing guy." He is the Managing Partner and President of the Organization. In the Front Office Hierarchy his name appears right below the names of the Owners and above the name of the General Manager. He was C.E.O. under the previous owner. He has been directly involved in the hiring of our previous 3 Head Coach's and 2 General Managers but yet I'm to believe he is not responsible for the current state of the organization?

  9. Russ Brandon always seems to get credit as being a "marketing genius" and is rarely held accountable for the lack of this teams success over the past 10 plus years even though his decisions have greatly impacted the franchise. While he deserves credit for bringing Training Camp to St. John Fisher, the Toronto series may have made Ralph money but ultimately it was a colossal failure. Russ was directly involved with the hiring of Doug Marrone and the promotion of Doug Whaley. Unexplicably, Marrone a 1st time NFL head coach was given a $4 million dollar out clause in his contract. I would argue Marrone's decision to leave was less about the money but more about who at One Bills Drive had the power (Brandon & Whaley). His decision seems to be justified. His boot licking ways have gained him more power at One Bills Drive and now with the Sabres. When will he ever be held accountable for the mess that is the Buffalo Bills?

You can say he's great at selling tickets but I would argue its easy to sell hope when you change your head coach and QB every 2-3 years.

Now that the heat is on Whaley and Rex I would hope Russ Brandon draws more criticism and is finally held accountable for yet another disastrous season. Terry and Kim please wise up and when you fire Whaley please include Russ Brandon.

  10. Let me seperate Ralph Wilson the philantrophist with Ralph Wilson the owner.

Ralph Wilson has been very generious over the years towards Western NY and the Detroit area. Recently it was announced his estate will continue to donate to both regions well beyond his passing. He should be given credit for his generiosity.

But as an owner he has been a complete failure. His career regular season record as owner is: 378-438-8. That's 60 games below .500. Take away the Bill Polian years and the record is even more abysmal and oh yeah he fired him and sided with Jeffrey Littmann his money man.

Was he loyal to the region? Yes

    Was he generious? Yes

Did he have a clue how to build a winning NFL franchise? No

At the end of the day he appeared more content making money instead of winning games. He never hired elite management or coaching. They all seemed to be second rate.

Ralph Wilson: Loyal, Generious, Successful Businessman, Clueless how to win.

    I welcome the new ownership.....

  11. The Bills would rather pay free agents like Mario Williams and Mark Anderson then to Andy Levitre and Jarius Byrd.

What type of impact do you think it has on a locker room when quality players that are drafted and develop into top talents at their position have to go else where to get paid?

Yes we paid: Fitz, Stevie, K Williams but you have to keep as much of your talent as possible. How is our Offensive Line better without Levitre? If Byrd is unwilling to sign or if we are not offering him fair market value trade him now and get maximum value. Byrd basically saved/won 2 games for us last season. The closer quality players get to free agency the more their cost goes up. Letting him walk for nothing like Levitre serves no purpose.

  12. I'm glad we brought Fred Davis in for a visit and had we have signed him I believe it would have been an upgrade at the TE position. I'm not surprised that he returned to the Redskins who have a dynamic QB in place. I actually would have questioned him has he signed with the Bills as he really would have proven that he only care's about the money not an organization that is in position to compete for a Super Bowl.

My issue with the Bills is that why do make such a big deal out of higher profile free agents when they visit One Bills Drive? I know this is purely a marketing move but what is the point? Before the ink was dry in the Buffalo News about Davis' visit he had resigned with the Redskins. Why have a press conference with Davis? Let's get our fans hopes up that we are trying only to let them down. My advice would be to keep these things under wraps. I can't think of another NFL organization that does this but then again our organization is run by a bean counter and a "marketing genius."

  13. This theory has been debunked. Both sides knew long ago that Levitre's price tag was more than the Bills wanted to pay. Everybody says, "lock him up a year ago" but it's just not that simple.

From Levitre's interview with the San Diego press:

"The money they had to spend and the market money my agent had me at didn't match up," Levitre said of failed negotiations.

Again it has not been reported that the Bills offered a contract to Levitre. Levitre stated he had not received an offer from the BIlls the week prior to the draft. The point is mute if you are finally offering him a deal right at the start of free agency. People seem to think Levitre is easily replaceable which he is not. The guy was durable, versatile, and young. John Glennon (reporter for the Tennessean) reported last season the Bills ran 49 times over LG for an average on 6.43 yards which was tops in the NFL. If a year ago you new he was going to test free agency trade him for some compensation. If Byrd isn't going to sign a long term deal trade him for compensation. You simply cannot let talented players walk. I know they resigned Williams, Stevie, and others but we just let one of our best players walk for nothing and we are a worse team because of it.

  14. Please don't ever compare Buddy Nix to Ozzie Newsome. Buddy is among the most incompetent GMs in NFL history and Ozzie is among the best ever. The time to sign Levitre an Byrd was last year before they became free agents. We wasted too much cap dollars on bad contracts for Kelsay, M Anderson, Fitz etc. Next year we will probably lose Wood and Byrd..

    You are correct!!!!!

  15. How do you know that they never made him an offer? I am not saying they did, but I would like to know how you know,

I don;t think Levitre is worth $8 million. If we signed him for that then we would have to cut money from somewhere else.

I don't know. I know that Tim Graham reported in the days leading up to free agency he spoke with Levitre and he said he had not received an offer from the BIlls. If they did make him an offer which I suspect they did not why would you wait until a mere days before free agency begins. This is a guy you lock up a year before he is able to hit the market but these are the Bills we are talking about.

  16. If I recall correctly on numerous times Buddy has stated one of the problems with this organization in the past is that they would let talented players leave instead of resigning them. Yet he let's Levitre walk without a contract offer. The lack of an offer screams of a Jeffrey Littmann decision (a la not paying Will Wolford). The cycle of failure continues at One Bills Drive......

  17. I can't believe he is going to get a better shot at a starting job in the NFL then in Buffalo this season. The money was fair but I don't understand what they were thinking. At best he will be brought in as a backup or in late summer due to an injury at a price less then what was offered by the BIlls. I hope that was worth it Fitz.

Also letting Levitre get to Free Agency was a colossal mistake. Buddy has said on numerous occassions that they want to draft and develop good players and then keep them. Well?
