Yes this is one important metric still in our favor despite other trending downwards (i.e. yards allowed, sacks, etc.)

IMO, the most important stat on that list is points per game and we're tied for 5th there.

5th overall.  1st to 18th.   They went from 13pts a game to 23pts per game.. in line with the defensive regression

I think a lot of this stems from our inability to put pressure on the QB.  no pressure equals more time to find open receiver, etc. I am honestly not sure if this is a player issue or scheme issue but I really hope we can turn it around.

2% sack rate on pass dropbacks..  not the greatest.. I agree

  3. "Where were you when we curb stomped the Raiders last week?"

Picking the Jets to win 20-13. Shall I pull up the post?

I read your post, and your central theme is obviously insinuated. The thing is, I do not disagree with a lot of what you wrote. I just see things differently. Bad games happen. I think we're a lot better than we displayed last night. You think we are what we saw last night. That is the difference between you and I, Mr. Negative.

I never said that either. I said the O-line is inconsistent. They were on the wrong end of it last night

Im also pointing out the fact that the offense is bottom 1/3rd in the league and the defense is bottom 1/3rd. I post facts and people jump down my throat. Its insane. Im not saying the season is over or the Bills can't make the playoffs.. im saying that Benjamin hopefully brings the offensive production up and the defense needs to tighten up or this season "could" start trending the other direction if the turnovers dry up. Which they did last night

  4. No need for name calling little fella. Yeah, you're a realist like Pablo Escobar was a humanitarian.

We all saw the problems last night. It doesn't mean the end of our playoff hopes. Where were you when we curb stomped the Raiders last week? The team that had beaten the all mighty Chiefs the week prior.

One thing about team sports is that neither the lows nor the highs define the season. It's a body of work, and this team has shown us that we can hang with anyone.

    5-3

Did I say the playoff hopes are ended or are you just assuming I said it?

  5. Keep being an eternal pessimist, and see what happens. Here's a hint...you'll still be a miserable person. Hell, I don't even think making the playoffs would do it for some of you clowns.

    We're 5-3.

We played a bad game last night. It happens.

Step back from the ledge, or do us all a favor and just jump.

Im a realist you idiot. If you don't see these problems, then don't be all sad and disappointed when they win 7 or 8

YOU are the problem. You disgust me thinking everything is fine. Open your eyes

And better yet. Read my post first.. All of it

  6. So after the first half of the season the Bills are 5-3 and these are my thoughts about it. I know some big homers won't agree with a lot of it but i'm a realist.

The Bills offense has been bad. Lets be honest. But what keeps them from being terrible is the fact that they protect the ball (we've seen a few fumbles lately), but for the most part Tyrod does a pretty good job. The offensive line is very inconsistent, at times dominant, and other times very weak at the LOS. Ultimately this determines if McCoy will be effective or not.

The defense has been opportunistic causing a massive amount of turnovers but are weak at pass rush, no excuse for Jerry Hughes to not be getting pressure on the QB, he is too good not to. Shaq Lawson has been underperforming IMO. You draft a DE in the first round that can get sacks. He just seems like a run stuffer. His pass rush is non-existent. The Jets game was the first game I've seen which the run defense really struggled. From what I saw, looked to be tackling issues. Could be fixed, who knows. But overall the run defense has been pretty good.

Overall, the Bills are 5-3 mainly because they are forcing turnovers. I don't see them able to sustain winning at this rate when your offense and defense are both basically bottom 5-10 in the NFL. Ranked 25ish in both. Sooner or later the turnovers are going to dry up, i've seen this way too many times from a lot of teams.

So moving forward we can only hope that Kelvin Benjamin can open up the offense, and on defense EJ Gaines comes back and stays healthy to make the secondary a little more stable. But its not their fault they are having to cover receivers for way longer than they should have to. I guess you can say I'm not freaking out because I will never buy into a Bills team with a fast start again until they can prove they can win critical games in the middle of the season. Lets see what they do against the Saints, but its not looking good if Brees has all the time in the world to throw it around the yard.
