  1. These are some of the things that I would love to see happen this season:

    1. Sign Lee Evans to an extension before game 1. He deserves it.

    2. Peters shows up before the season starts and solidifies the O-Line. He then fires his agent, and apologizes for being selfish.

    3. Trent Edwards stays healthy for 16 games (or more if we make the playoffs), and is among the top 10 QB's in the league in passing yards and TD's.

    4. Dick Jauron will show more confidence in his team. If we have the lead going into the 2nd half, I don't want to see us try and drain the clock for the rest of the game (only to see the other team come back and win and leave us completely disappointed). We need to take some chances on 4th down. We need to get the ball in the air more often, especially passes beyond 10 yards. And NEVER, EVER punt the ball if you are getting beat by the Patriots late in the game.

    5. Marshawn will show the world how great he really is. This year is his year.

    6. The D-Line and LB's destroy opposing teams' running game. I want to see Stroud, Schobel, Kelsay, McCargo, Poz, Mitchell and Crowell light some people up in the backfield this season.

    7. Our secondary, finally healthy and deep in talent, will make opposing QB's fear throwing the ball down field. It's great to have Simpson back, and to see Greer take it to the next level this year. These guys could be incredible together, and McKelvin will help make them elite.

    8. James Hardy needs to live up to the hype. If he can become even just a little threat opposite Lee Evans, it will open up this offense tremendously.

    9. Rob Royal. This year is the year he becomes a real Tight End. Finally we have a QB that will get him the ball, and a guy that can be very effective in the red zone. I would love to see numbers along the lines of 600 yards and 8 TDs for Royal.

    10. Playoffs!!! It's time to turn this organization around baby! I can't wait to see us rack up the W's.

  2. Right on the money. This is definitely more about Eugene Parker's ego than Peters. As we've seen with some of his other players, Steven Jackson and Devon Hester, he is willing to rip a team apart by holding his players hostage to get them a bigger payday.

The league needs to take a stance on this. If you are not in the final year of your contract, you must show up to play for your team. Or you will pay the consequenses (suspension, league fine, etc.).

  3. I know this is all speculation, and there are no official plans to build a new stadium. BUT, in light of all of the talk lately and with the Bills heading over to play the next preseason game at the Colts new stadium, it got me thinking.

What name do you give the new stadium? If in Niagara, maybe The Glacier or The Rock, or even just Niagara Stadium sounds decent I guess. I wonder if Labatt's would ever sponsor it. There you go, Toronto gets their piece that way. If in Buffalo, The Waterfront has a nice ring to it also.

And wouldn't it be cool to have a design like Olympic Stadium in Beijing? Something recognizable and unique. It cost $500 million to build that stadium. Lucas Oil Stadium cost $650 million, and the new Meadowlands is projected to cost around $1.3 billion. We can handle a half-a-billion right? Haha, I know it's a big number. But hey if Jim Kelly has as many big investors round up as he says... maybe it's possible?

  4. Everyone on here thought he was the best LT in football last year, and now that you're angry at the situation, somehow his play and talent level has dropped. Typical round' here.

I don't think so. I think everyone was excited about what he was GOING TO BE. Too many players in professional sports are judged on potential. Look at Kwame Brown in basketball. Number one overall pick based on his enormous size and athleticism... that turned out great. Now nobody wants him, but he's banked millions of dollars while everyone else figured that out.

Rookie contracts are worth more than veterans. Everyone wants to be paid, and paid big.

"What if I get injured?" - Well, that's a risk everyone takes playing in this league. It just seems like players get whinier about it every year, and use it as an excuse to get a big signing bonus.

"I want a long term contract!" they say. Then when they get that long term contract, they are upset a year later that it isn't enough.

Where do team owners draw the line? Where does the league draw the line?

Sports aren't fun when you always have to worry about the business side of things. I get enough of that in my 9 to 5.

  5. I can't believe that anyone here is actually arguing that Peters is not among the top LTs in the league meaning at least top-10.

And people call me negative.

But more importantly, how can anyone argue against Peters but then not come down on the organization for a whole bunch of other signings?

I mean if we put up a poll, and maybe there is one from last season, as to the best players on this team, it seems to me that both Evans and Peters would rank higher than just about everyone else that's gotten either a new contract or an extension from us over the last three or four years.

Peters is no doubt a very good left tackle. BUT, he needs to be a man about this AND he needs to think about his team. Does he care about winning or is it all about himself?

He didn't confront our front office and demand a new contract. He hid away from everyone and made everyone assume he was upset. He let his greedy agent do all the (lack of) talking. What kind of BS is this?! If you want money, you come out and ask for it! Tell it to the front office. Tell it straight Russ Brandon's face. Say "I will not play unless you pay me more."

The point of this post is that there are A LOT of talented players in this league. You can be replaced. The Bills gave Peters an extension and bonus BEFORE anyone knew anything about him. They were LOYAL. He needs to return the respect.

  6. From Rotoworld:

Undrafted wide receiver Adarius Bowman erupted for 112 yards and a touchdown on six catches in his debut for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

His 73-yard TD clinched Saskatchewan's win over the Edmonton Eskimos. If Bowman keeps this up, it'll only be a matter of time before he's getting calls from NFL teams. He was a first-day prospect coming out before appearing to self destruct with awful workouts and an arrest for marijuana possession.

  7. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions here. First of all, he owned the bar. So, he has the right to protect his property. This guy may have been threatening him or his customers.

Second of all, this sound like it's straight out of the movie Casino! I love it. He was just takin' care of business like DeNiro.

In all seriousness though, wait for the facts to come out. The media always jumps on to stories and portrays someone as guilty before the case has been decided in court.

  8. I don't think it's a pipe dream. The NFLPA could go for that since it will not affect any current player. They can "screw" the rookies to save their own butts.

Technically it's good for the NFLPA because they can continue to justify higher salary demands based on rookie contracts being more than their own. In the end greed wins again.

  9. Well, I wasn't trying to get into the whole capitalism and "where is our society headed" conversation. But point taken.

If we keep heading in this direction as a country, by 2020 the average american is on course to pay $1 mil for a 1 bedroom apartment, $10/gallon of gas, $1,000/month car payment, $1,000/month cable bill, $500/month insurance, $300 per trip to the grocery store, and $15 for a pint of beer.

I'm grabbing my fishing pole, a tent, and a gun and moving to Montana.

  10. Yes Jake Long is the #1 pick, and he might very well be great. But to pay over $10 mil a year for a rookie who's never played a down in the NFL is ABSURD.

I would be pissed off if I were a veteran in this league. I hope they plan on revising the salary scale sometime soon.

Jesus h. Agents and lawyers are destroying this country.

  11. He reminds me of Ed McCaffrey from Denver back in the day, and a little bit (surprisingly) like Moulds. He's got a big frame, he's physical, and he's fast. He would have a good chance to be our #2.

Especially if we took a shot at a WR late in the draft as well. That way we get two young guys in here to compete.

    Get'r done.

  12. It seems like a trade to the Raiders or Cowboys is already a foregone conclusion here.

Dallas could give up their second 1st round pick for him, and the Raiders could give up a 2009 2nd rounder plus either Rhodes or Jordan (since it looks like Cinci needs help at RB).

Forget about Chad in Buffalo. That guy doesn't belong here.
