  1. my opinion: if no QB is taken by #9 it really comes down to our scouts/GM getting first crack at guessing who the franchise QB is from the group. I am confident that one exists in this batch, and it is up to us to FINALLY guess right. If you do, playoff drought ends. If you guess wrong? Well, that is when the owners need to decide if you are a right fit for the job or not.

Getting "first dibs" on guessing (all drafts are a guess) who the franchise guy is at the QB position is very rare and usually up to the team who holds the #1 pick. Even at 10, if no QB is taken, then theoretically itʻs as if we are a team who needs a QB and has the first pick in the draft. Even if you are on the "wait until next years draft, there are better QBʻs" you are still going to be guessing at which one is better and most likely wonʻt get the first crack at taking the guy you feel is best.

With that said, we all have our guesses on who the franchise guy could be and the logic is usually based on the following:

Go with the guy who wins big games, and has proved it on the big stage = Deshaun Watson

Go with the guy who passes the eye test and seems like the safest bet = Mitch Trubisky

Go with the guy who seems to have that "it" factor aka the wild card = Pat Mahomes

I am fine with either because I see the positive in all three options. However if my job was on the line? I go with the guy whom I watched square up against an Alabama defense that was filled with first round prospects and win a national title doing so. I have him sit a year behind Tyrod and watch a QB with similar skills run an offense and learn. If we have a winning season next year then good for us, and good for Deshaun as he can continue to learn. If the wheels start falling off towards the end of the season I slowly plug in Watson at QB and cut ties with Tyrod at the end of the year. Next years first round pick can now be used to move our new team forward with our new QB.

Sir, I understand your logic but your opinion is exactly why I don't what to see Watson get drafted by the Bills because like you said, drafting Watson means the Bills will not draft a QB in 2018, which has been said to be one of the strongest QB draft class. For me this is devastating to a team that has no decent QB for that many years.

  2. Who is going to be able to take advantage of the weapons we have on this team. We have Sammie, Clay, McCoy, Wood, Goodwin, and the year before we had Hogan. But Tyrod average passing yards per game was a little over 200. We need someone who can maximize the output of the weapons in which we invested a lot of money. Tyrod is not that person. We need a passer who is willing to let the ball fly.

  3. As has been discussed, it's really not crazy money.

The cap continues to go up and Tyrods deal will end up looking like mid to bottom level pay for a starting QB.

And it's a hunch with Whaley. I think the guys ego clouds his judgement.

    Completely disagree.

Simeon blows. Denvers defense carried them last season and any semblance of solid QB play the Broncos would've easily made the playoffs. Tyrod is much better then Simeon in my opinion.

Denver reportedly is interested in Tyrod. I think it maybe an indication of who between the two is better.

  4. I think sometimes starting a new thread is not a bad thing. Old thread sometimes have 50 pages of comments and within the thread, people were pretty much saying the same thing anyway. If you don't comment on a thread, it moves down the list. By commenting on it you are keeping it alive.

This place is for discussions so it is not a race to be the first person to say something. Don't respond if you don't want to discuss the topic. Maybe there are people who wants to reply.

  5. Wow. Just....wow. By FAR, our best player on the field, earned EVERY SINGLE PENNY of that contract, and we're going to cut him? That would be just about the Billsiest thing we've ever done. I've read all of your reasons for cutting LeShady, and I don't understand any of them. They're right up there with cutting Tyrod, because we've somehow convinced ourselves he's not worth middle-of-the-road QB money? I don't get any of it. If both these come to pass, and LeShady and Tyrod are both cut, the Bills are 4-12 next year, at best. Chew on that a while.

Some fans are just eager to blow everything up. They also hate for the team to spend any money. In these people's minds, it is best to only sign players to the minimum, like the Patriots. But yet, they hate their only players because they are not Thurman, Reed, or Kelly. You ask any Eagles fan how they feel about McCoy, it is overwhelming that everyone in Philly wants him back. But yet, some Bills fans want him off this team because of $5M. I call this the loser syndrome and most of our fanswer have it because of what happened in the last 17 years. It can't be cured unless the Bills start winning.
  6. I personally think Doug Whaley is a terrible GM. He has plenty of chances to address the QB position and failed. He reached for players in the draft and threw money away on terrible players in free agency. I cannot see any success with this guy in charge. I hope this is his last shot. I just can't take this cap anymore!!

  7. With three stupid games left. With zero chance for making the playoff the 17th times. Rex is going to start Tyrod. We will be denied an opportunity to see Cardell Jones or EJ before we make a decision on QB for next year. What a jerk! Why bother with trying to win now except to pad his record? Pathetic coach, pathetic management. What do you expect, and what can you expect as a Bills fan?
