  1. Hagan caught at least one pass that I recall, and he had worked himself into being wide open downfield....the ball was slightly underthrown and he was muscled to the ground. Flag was tossed, the ref closest to the play called interference, but after meeting the crew remembered it was the Bills, so they put the flag away. But it was good to see a guy get open.

Caussin was all but invisible. I think he caught one of those fancy 2 yard passes. I may be wrong about this.

Slightly, that pass was horribly under thrown. Hagan did look decent out there though.

  2. A gatorade shower after the game.....really. It was a regular season game and Les got a gatorade shower. That would be like Chan getting a gatorade shower after betting NE. That just goes to show how much the media hyped up this game, now LSU thinks it can walk to the National Championship. I for one am not in favor of a LSU vs ALA national championship game. I always believed you have to win your conference to be considered for the National Championship, which means one of these teams are out. I would really like to see both of the lose at least one game and have OSU and Stanford go undefeated to play for the Championship....

Possible if Arkansas can beat LSU.

  3. What happens if we pass on Cam, and Luck isn't on the board when we draft next year? How many more years of losing will that equal out to? If the Bills believe he is the one, they have to take Newton. After all the draft misses, we have to get this one right! Doesn't matter what Dilfer or Mayock thinks, only the Bills front office.

  4. I think they both will need time to grow, but everybody keeps forgetting that it is not fair to say Cam can't read defenses, because as mentioned in another post, in Auburn's offense he is SUPPOSED to run more than usual. That's the whole reason the offense was unstoppable. Cam is also a winner! Watch Sunday and I will bet that Ben or Rogers will make a play with there legs and everybody will praise them. And although Vince Young sucked to me I still don't recall him not being able to run in the pros. I recall him running pass a lot of NFL linebackers. Give him and all the other qb's a chance. Last year most people would have died to get Locker, and now look at him. You never can tell, so it's a crap shoot.

  5. What is the BS in that statement? I've said before Newton reminds me of some rather failed QB's.

He is like Young in that he uses his god-given size and talents to beat defenders and that will not cut it when he's facing the elite players of the NFL. His decision making is similar to Russell because he cannot read through a defense and will use his strength to put the ball anywhere, good or bad. You see, Russell was just like Newton, he had plays designed perfectly to get his WR's open and exploit the defense and that will not fly in the NFL with the top notch DB's. Once in a while it will work.

If I compare him to Ryan Leaf on his decision making will you not be so upset? If I compare him to Ben Roethlisberger? Ben uses his massive size to try to beat QB's, similar to what Culpepper, Palmer, Rob Johnson, Leftwhich and Pennington, and gets himself beat up time and time again. Newton doesn't take the hits like a QB should and uses his body as a rag doll and wins by his given talent. I did not see him make one decision in the national championship that didn't involve running. I do not know where his stats would be for this, but I bet 80% of his passes went to the primary designated player and the other 20% went to the bailout player (RB, TE).

Nope, Cam Newton doesn't have to be compared to Vince Young or JaMarcuss Russell, but I can promise you this - he's not that good and will not do sht in the NFL. Mark my words, hell put it as your sig line, we'll wait 4 years and talk about it then.

The offense at Auburn is designed for the QB to run and pass. This is the case with most if not all of the spread offenses in college. The point being made is that the reality is with CAM it is being look at as a negative instead of a positive thing.A qb in the NFL that is mobile is a definite plus, and I'm sure he can learn to slide to avoid some big hits. The only thing that will keep him from being successful is how his decision making will progress in the NFL. The comparison to Russell and Young, come on...two head cases. I think Tebow is the fair comparison and just like with him, somebody will fall in love with him and he will as the first post stated definetly bring excitement to his team. And if he is successful the same folks who are saying we shouldn't draft him, will say the Bill's front office sucks for not taking him. I say take him, because if we are really putting our faith in Fitz, I hope everyone is happy with competing hard and not winning. I think Cam could easily go 4-12 or better in his first year. Our qb who couldn't beat out C Palmer, yeah that's a reason not to draft a guy.

Here are the stats of the guys who seem to be mentioned at the top of the draft. Gabbert and Newton both are really one year starters and none of the three are in a pro style offense. Seems to me that it just comes down to personal preference. I prefer Cam and could live with Mallet, but I don't want Gabbert. The value of the pick doesn't matter to me. If you need a player you take him at whatever position you draft in, period. If he fits in your scheme of things who cares what other teams think.

  7. Just a simple question I'd like to get answered. All these people screaming about character, hearing what we have lately about Farve's character, should we still count him as one of the best QB's ever? Cam is a college kid, stop acting like people don't screw up. And who really believes that in the big time world of college football pay for play or some other scheme isn't going on. STOP IT! Half the people talking about him being a cheater at Florida probably cheat on their taxes or spouse. Stop all of this nonsense and hope we get the best football players available.

So in other words, it is cam newton or die? Great .

that is a pretty bold statement saying Cam newton is going to become a michael jordan figure in the NFL. I am not saying the kid is going to be a bust, but be a michael jordan type? That is just waaaay out there.

Not to mention, did cam newton even declare yet? I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't declare.

Being considered just another running qb by a lot of people, if he actually wins a Superbowl he will be treated like Mike. After all a dual threat qb can't make it in the league according to most(Since people forget Elway and Young did a lot of damage running).

  8. LMAO Thats Hilarious... Fitz is an athlete and you want him right? I think you may have ment you don't want a mobile QB or maybe you were takin it to another level cuz there are many different racial undertones on this board about Cam. So who knows? Maybe im wrong, Maybe im right.

I'd take Cam if Fairly or Bowers are gone which im 90 percent sure they're going to be. I know everybody has there own opinion but if you think Fitz is better than Cam I think you may have the Flu or a Fever cuz your sick....

    Agreed

  9. There is no way he last past the first round so getting him later is out of the question. As far as him being NFL ready, how many guys are at the beginning of their careers. I know there are a few exceptions to the rule, but for every name you throw out there is a ton of Hall of Fame QB's that were not. I think that this will be one of those picks that everyone who needs a qb that passes on him will regret it. Also, I think this whole character thing is BS. If a player produces all of those issues seem to go out of the window. For example, you think Dallas or the Hall of Fame voters care about M. Irvings issues. Hey, technically the Bible says premarital sex is wrong so should we run all the single guys that are getting some out of town. I WANT GUYS WHO CAN PLAY FOOTBALL!

  10. Just wanted to say this turned out to be one of the more interesting threads I read in a long time. With that said I am an Auburn fan, and I say we have to take Cam if he is available. His combination of size and speed and accuracy are a rare combination. His passing numbers would be even better, but the offense at Auburn is designed for a dual threat qb. In the NFL he will not be asked to run that often, but being able to do so when needed could make him great(Steve Young, John Elway). I'm not saying he will be that good but he has the skill set to go very far. I say give him a chance, how many of us would really measure up if judged on our behavior in college. Besides, I would love to see my Bills draft my favorite player(Cam) from my favorite college( Let's go Tigers!!)

  11. Can we at least wait to see if he is guilty before we take him off of the draft board. Looks like he is the real deal as far as the qb position goes, so let's at least make sure we have a good reason before we decide he is undraftable.

  12. It's funny to watch SEC fans because they get all panicky when an SEC team loses to a team from another conference. They worry if Georgia Tech beats Georgia or something similar occurs that they might not be viewed as the best conference. A lot of fans from the area actually believe that winning the SEC is a greater honor than winning the national championship.

Lately it does seem harder to win the SEC than the National Title. That's part of why the SEC fans chant for the conference. Is there really a big difference in showing support by chanting and showing support by comparing the conferences head to head-The 17-16 bowl games argument. Either way you are showing conference loyalty. The 4 straight championships are pretty impressive though. Just for the sake of argument, I thought I'd point out that it's not just the SEC, it's college football in the south in general. ( SEC,ACC,B-12). The only others that could survive is USC or Ohio State and they would be middle of the road.

  13. If Shanahan does come here and through some biblically catastrophic event manages to win a Super Bowl the man will not just be a coach, he will be A GOD! The people of Buffalo and Bills fans everywhere will throw themselves at his feet and beg to be touched by the hand of God.

All the other cities that are being discussed; Washington, Dallas, Chicago etc all have other **** going on. In Buffalo there is breathing air and the Bills. I'm not even sure if that order is correct, it might be the Bills then breathing. Buffalo is the Bills and a Super Bowl victory is the emotional equivalent of the rapture.

    Can you imagine the parade................

Just had to agree, and say this is probably the best post I read this year!!!

  14. I don't mind Brown as the 1st Pick...IMHO The Bills MUST add a DE/Pass Rusher with the Pick at #11...Whether it's Brown, Ayers, Jackson, Maybin if He slides a bit...It matters not to Me...As long as The Bills get someone who can get to the QB with that Pick I'm OK with it...

In the 2nd (based on this Mock) I'd rather see the TE Ingram go to The Bills...I REALLY like the way that Kid looks...As long as Our Doctors say He's OK I'd LOVE to see Him in Buffalo...I think he's a 1st round talent who is being pushed down a bit by the injury...I realize He's WAY raw and not the best Blocker right now...But I think the sky is the limit for that Kid once He gets a Year or two of Pro Coaching...Plus I think The Bills need another Player named Cornelius to turn this thing around... <_<

In the 3rd a LB or an OG...In the 4th whatever they don't get in the 3rd...

I agree with this strategy, and also wouldn't mind TE Cook. I think him or Ingram will have the biggest impact in our offense.
