BILLS LIKELY WON'T GET COMPENSATORY PICKS: The odds are very long that the Bills will be awarded any compensatory draft picks by the league around the end of the month. The formula for determining what teams get compensatory picks is rooted mainly in what's called a net loss of free agents. You basically have to lose more free agents than you sign. If that has happened then the quality of the free agents and the contributions to their respective clubs is also taken into account with a formula that is more top secret than the material used to make Burt Reynolds wig.
In any event the reason the Bills probably won't get any compensatory picks for 2007 is because in 2006 Buffalo signed 13 free agents (counting the Oliver Gibsons and Matt Morgans of the world) and only lost three of their own (Justin Bannan, Ron Edwards and Trey Teague) to other clubs. Players that they released like Sam Adams, Lawyer Milloy, Jeff Posey, Bennie Anderson and Mike Williams don't count because the team chose to release them. Without a net loss the Bills are out of luck.
---We got 8 picks this year, only 2 down from last years draft, well we actually had 9 picks because we traded our 2nd round pick to the bears to take there place in the first round to get john mccargo
