1. I should be on for a bit of the 1st half, also listening online.

By the way, how'd you feel about your draft yesterday?

    16260

Cool - i'll see u in the chat room - anyone know ehere to get a free feed??

I think the draft went OK. It wasn't the best cos 5 people were on auto select with really crappy rabkings - so that threw me out a little...

for everyone else.... my draft went like this (9th pick/14):

9 White Cream Bourbons Clinton Portis (RB WAS)

16 White Cream Bourbons Corey Dillon (RB NE)

33 White Cream Bourbons Steve McNair (QB TEN)

40 White Cream Bourbons Charles Rogers (WR DET)

57 White Cream Bourbons Kellen Winslow (TE CLE)

64 White Cream Bourbons Eric Moulds (WR BUF)

81 White Cream Bourbons Drew Bledsoe (QB BUF)

88 White Cream Bourbons Quentin Griffin (RB DEN)

105 White Cream Bourbons DST Chiefs (DST KC)

112 White Cream Bourbons Roy Williams (WR DET)

129 White Cream Bourbons Morten Andersen (K KC)

136 White Cream Bourbons David Givens (WR NE)

153 White Cream Bourbons DST Browns (DST CLE)

160 White Cream Bourbons Ben Troupe (TE TEN)

  2. Where are his articles nowadays?

    TMQ is available on NFL.com...

It always bugs me to read about Marv and his failure to win a Superbowl. He/We really deserved to win it - he owned every other coach in the regular season and yet mystically couldn't get in done in the big show. It's upsetting...

  3.

Many readers, including Michael Gendron of Brampton West, Ontario, wrote to protest TMQ including Marv Levy on a list of coaches who excelled in the regular season but sputtered in the playoffs. He notes that Levy won two Grey Cups in the CFL and was, of course, the sole NFL coach ever to prowl the sidelines muttering about the officials in four straight Super Bowls. In haiku,

    Marv Levy: winner.

Four Super Bowls in a row

    count for something, no?

-- Michael Gendron, Brampton West, Ontario

TMQ has always admired Levy, one of the few accomplished coaches who really believes sportsmanship matters more than victory. If you could have any famous NFL coach to your house for dinner, you would do well to choose Levy: He's a warm human being in a profession where many of the successful are cold at heart. But Levy's admirable qualities may have held him back from Super Bowl triumphs, as the farther you go in the playoffs, the more important game plans and psych-ups become. In that environment, win-at-all-cost types tend to prevail.

Levy won four AFC championships, but consider the incredible talent he had in the Jim Kelly-Bruce Smith-Thurman Thomas years -- 17 players from that era made the Pro Bowl, and several will make Canton. During the Kelly-Smith winning run, Levy's teams were 97-47 or .674 in the regular season but fell to 11-8 or .579 in the postseason. Through the regular season in the 1990s, Levy was 14-2 against the NFC East; during his Super Bowl appearances in the same period, Levy was 0-4 against the same division. At the Super Bowl pressure-cooker, that extra level of total determination seemed missing. Levy did not enforce Super Bowl curfews, for instance, relying on his players' good judgment not to go out and party; many went out and partied, and it showed on game day. During the regular season, Levy consistently beat Bill Parcells, Joe Gibbs and Jimmy Johnson: At the Super Bowl, when game plans and psych-up tactics mean more, he was blanked by these three. In the regular season, Levy was king; in the postseason, one of the princes.

  4. Well then, if you mean the entire "starting unit", then they have played a grand total of 11 plays together - the first two drives of the Titans game. Think that's a valid statistical sample to extrapolate an entire 16-game season from? I don't.

    Spin that.

    14081

LOL Lori - you da man! If you pardon the expression...

So-Cal... back down buddy - this is one argument you just cannot win...

The starting unit will not play together... until they start on the first week of the season. There's little to assess and extrapolate into a season prediction at this stage. Don't forget there is still 1 preseason game to go... so stuff can get worked out.. Chill mate. B)

  5. #5 pick leave you with at least another 5 top tier RBs to pick from. I would definately have taken a risk on Jamal Lewis at #5, but the sensible pick would have been Portis.

If you had to go with a QB at 5 Peyton is the obvious choice - I would only have considered McNabb as an alternative.

Travis makes a good fantasy backup this year with the injury and fumble history and the potential emergence of Willis in Goalline situations. I would not rely on him to make #1 RB fantasy numbers this year.

The rest of your picks look solid to me from Booker up to Coles. I think you'll see average performance from Griffen - enough to be your #2 back and Burress was a steal that low down. The rest are backup fodder.

I'd expect an early playoff loss....

  6. So in summary:

In order for our #2 QB and our QB of the future to attend VITAL team meetings (yet not practise) this season we need to place them on the 'active' PUP list. I don't believe anyone could argue against this methodology as JP clearly needs the mental reps this season and Travis Brown is clearly a benefit to Drew as an extra pair of eyes who know the team and the playbook.

Matthews limp arm is a great stop gap until one of our boys is healthy ernought to practise and play - presumably this is sometime in the next 4-6 weeks (max 9 weeks). We can easily afford to lose one of our backup LBs RBs DBs or TEs to accommodate 4 QBs for 8 weeks max. When we cut Matthews later we can bring in another journeyman from FA or upgrade someone from the practise squad to make up for the guy we cut. It's not a big deal.

  7. Artist: Beth Orton

    Title: Daybreaker

    Genre: Electronic/Dance

    Sirius Channel: 64 // Chill

    11619

Genre should be 'folk'. Pisses me off when they list Beth as dance/electronic - she's influenced, sure - but all of that is influencing a sound that is predominantly folk music.

Great song tho! I love 'er

  8. What are you talking about ? Drew looked shabby ? I SAW the game and he wasn't a negative at all. Made several nice throws. Watched Moulds drop a perfect pass on 3rd down. I'm a Drew basher and believe me, he's not a problem.

I'm sure this Thursday, Drew will be handing off the ball much of the time, to avoid injury. The search for the backup QB starts today.

    10658

I say he looks shabby - because every goddamn report i read online says he's ineffective. His his numbers look poor on the stats in comparison to other QBs.

Its good to hear he's not the problem - but still - us faraway fans need to see something to impress us soon.

  9. OK so i just woke up and saw the news. My first reaction was....

    billsfanone

The loss of Travis Brown and Losman really hurts us now. Drew continues to look shabby in preseason - any more reports of his ineffectiveness and I might scream.

Losing Milloy isn't too bad - but Wire's missed out on SS reps in camp - and that hurts us. The OL isn't hurt too much - but do they know how to block???

billsfanone I tell ya - another 3 years of rebuilding around losman

  10. You should have seen it when the USA track guys finished 1,2, and 3 in the 200m final... OR when our long jumper jumped this outrageous distance on the FIRST attempt of 8.59m, and NO ONE could catch him! Incredible!

It's a very big deal over here about Kazinidas... the crowd last night delayed the event for 10 minutes because they wouldn't shup up. Donovan Bailey said they were disrespectful. Right on!

    8628

I thought it was Kenteris or something...

  11. Willis it was his agent. I told him to tell his agent to stop ruining your good press.

OK  Troy Vincent is a professional and what I heard from a very reliable member of the press.  I was asked by a station in Buffalo for my opinion if JP's injury and after saying that I believe that professionals would not do a cheap shot to their own team members on this sations interview.  Then a member of a different station had walked by and listened to the interview and I had met him at Booster functions and he told me he was standing right by the play. It was not a I'm gonna hurt you on purpose thing up it also was not the accidental shoulder touch that the team is saying. Troy knocked him with his shoulder pads here is the Quote "a nudge like a vet was showing a rookie that pro hit." Then he showed he how he lowered his shoulder and gave the shot.

    7670

Good news and bad then. I really expect more of Troy Vincentg - it is just not acceptable - regardless of how good a PR spin the team is putting on it. He deserves our scorn IMO.

I am glad that Willis is talking about his recent alleged statements to the fans. I hope he realises his agent is a dirtbag and that Willis does the classy and right thing when Travis Henry is fit again: steps aside.

  12. Red shirt, pro hit, cheap shot, it does not matter.  JP should know how to slide when the situation warrants.  It sounds like this was one of those times.  Maybe know he will learn!

    7769

Jeez that's not fair on JP. Yeah he needs to know when to slide - but in camp, with a red shirt on, the QB does not get hit. At all. Ever. He's a cocky SOB and probably deserved a shot, but the fact remains - don't touch the red shirts.
