I doubt Wade would ever come back to Buffalo as a D-coordinator given the way he left last time.
-
The coaches see BB Monday - Saturday. I'm sure they don;t have to put him on the field to know he sucks. See Maybin
You're right. If he looked like the future in practice we would have seen him already. He obviously doesn't.
-
Merriman = Superbowl only if he has tickets to get in
-
IMHO - Kelsay has only two positions on a pro football team -- that is a defensive end in a 4-3 (and he's average there) and on the bench as a back-up. He is not an inside LB or an outside LB on any defense. He gives 100%, but he just doesn't have the skills for those positions.
-
1) Stop paying attention to post game interviews. What's he supposed to say? "We suck and we know it?"
2) They have to play the games whether they can or not.
PTR
They do have to play the games, but do they have to play them this badly on defense. I certainly hope we find someone who can scheme a defense a little better than edwards and some player who show some skill. The desire is there, the skill is lacking

Quote from Poz "We knew it was going to be a challenge, but to give up 270 is not going to cut it."
Giving up 270 yards in not going to cut it? Doh - that is the understement of the year.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The Bills put out the same pitiful run stoppers (Kyle Williams excluded) and expect to stop someone. They need to realize that the Peter principle is in effect with many of these players -- many of them have risen to the level of incompetence
-
I worry he only had 1 year of serious competition
Just like Aaron maybin -- why should that scare the Bills -- see how well Maybin has done
-
Not interested in Newton as a 1st rounder. He is not a star NFL QB -- just a wildcat kind of guy.
-
I was really puzzled when in overtime when the bills got close to field goal range, they gave up on the run game. Gettng another 5 or 6 yards might have been a difference -- a 47 yarder rather than a 53 yarder. I thought the play calling in that area of the field was not good. In some cases we lines up with an empty backfield which certainly gave KC a good idea where we were going. We needed to show some fortitude and push a little more up field. I take that as a coaching mistake.
-
I have no freaking idea why this guy was signed to a new contract mid year. I always defended him as a 4-3 D-End, ven when he wasn't great. He may be the worst linebacker I've ever seen. Maybin may not be any better, but I can't imagine him being any worse.
-
It's a shame that neither wanted Orakpo. He willl turn out to be the best of them all.
-
Pro Bowlers -- Someone is hitting the hit sauce a little hard. The defense is easily the worst in the NFL and you sat two guys could be pro bowlers. i don't think they define a probowler as someone who makes tackles 15 yards down field after a big gain.
The bottom line is that this team has some talent, but not hearly enough to be good. At the same time, I have to believe the defensive scheme and coaching is really poor as no team can look this bad on talent alone.
-
We could have done better than to draft CJ Spiller, but that is for another time -- he's ours now. I think he will be a good NFL back with break away ability once he gets his feet on the ground. Probably a little too much coaching for him now and i see some indecision. He has natural ability, let him use it and just provide some reminders. He won't become a difference maker getting 5-8 carries a week -- needs 12-15 at least.
-
I know we don't have the best talent on defense, but they don't ever seem to be in the right place at the right time. i think that is the fault of the Defensive scheme which comes from the D coordinator. We need ore talent, of that there is no debate, but we also need to fit our scheme to this group. Changing d-coordinators now is not the best answer, but lining up someone for next year should start now.
-
Sorry dudes but I think next year's QB draft is gonna be like last year's. One quality NFL guy like Bradford. (Luck) We need that pick and we arent gonna get it by winning games. When I watch the game I want us to win, but once it's over I'm glad for the future of this team that we lost.
Im using my head not my heart here.
I agree somewhat -- I'm not sure there is a Sam Bradford in this draft -- just alot of Jimmy Clausen's.
-
i think it is the best they have looked a season -- of course there was a ton of room there for improvement. Even Bell looked decent

I want the Buffalo Bills to come clean and say WHO pushed the Whitner pick through? Was it Marv? Was it Modrak? WHO was the genius that decided Ngata was not who we needed? I want a real answer, dammit. No offense intended to Whitner -- you probably couldn't see it coming that you'd be taken at the 8th pick. But I want a NAME -- none of this -- "it was the scouting department" or "Ralph always gets the final say-so" or that BS. I want to know WHO said "No, fellas, we're going to take Whitner". If that individual is not already gone, it's time to make that happen.
If I remember some of the wrods correctly, we pased on him because in our "new" tampa Two defense we wanted small, quick D-tackles. How did that work out for us? Poor decision making up and down the line for the Bills
-
Sigh. I wouldn't be crazy about Kelsay covering Condoleezza Rice. It's going to be a long Sunday.
ROFLOL - I like your thinking.
-
Didn't we just do that this past year. No use going thru this again. The definition id insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The Bills Front office is insane. No decent head coach would come to this franchise right now, given the huge lack of talent at many positions.
-
Other than Haynesworth, I don't really see Shanny side-lining too many of his vets. I'm not sure this is really any kind of deliberate approach at rebuilding.
He also benched Derrick Dockery and Andre Carter. he got Clinton Portis motivated somehow, until he got hurt.
-
Where do you guys dream this stuff up? The position moves are because of injuries.
The way to improve the line is like this: (1) add better talent, and (2)maintain consistency. Your plan stays with the same talent we have right now (or less), and then moves every single person to a new position.
Howard is a guard in this league and nothing more. The fact that he plays tackle for us shows how woeful our talent and depth are. If he is our starting LT next year we are sunk.
Levitre is a guard.
Like it or not, our best OL this season has been one of TSW's favorite whipping boys --- Hangartner. Wood needs to up his game if he is going to replace him. People treat Wood like the next coming of Kent Hull. Come on Eric Wood, start knocking' people down and holding others accountable. So far he is mediocre for a #1 pick. Unfortunately his injury has slowed he development.
Urbick - why are you handing him a job? He is big and he is from Pittsburgh, so what? He is a project, just like Wang, and Bell, and Howard.
We need to draft tackles. I would not be opposed to using our first pick on a tackle if a player like Jake Long was sitting there.
I think you are spot on. If the player does not have enough talent then putting him at a new position doesn't help anything -- still not enough talent. It's difficult to find good O-linement in free agency as if someone is real good they are kept. We need some good drafting and maybe a lucky break or two to improve the line.
-
We also haven't drafted any lineman with skill so specific that they're commodities in the first 1-3 rounds.
Those we have (Wood and Levitre) have, for the most part, stayed put.
Wood was a center in college and Levitre a tackle -- both ar enow guards. With such a lack of talent at tackle why do we have Wang working at guard -- does that signal a move of Wood to center?
-
A college team collects the biggest badest dudes they can find and depending on team needs move these guys around. A college running team requires power up the middle and speed Tackles for sweeps and protection.
The Pros are a different story and the over all speed of the game dictates how you use players.
Way to complicated to discuss in one thread.
Maybe so, but it seems like that some of our best O-linemen of the past have maintained positions -- Ruben Brown, Kent Hull, Reggie McKenzie... We did hit a homer with Jason Peters, but that seems to be an exception.
-
I find it rather odd that the Bills, great talent evaluaters that they have become, find it necessary to draft a collect O-lineman who excelled at one position in college and make them play somewhere else with the Bills. Wood was a center, guard witht he Bills, Levitre was a tackle, guard with the Bills, Wang a tackle now practicing at guard. I'm guessing had we drafted Mangold we would have made him a guard. It makes no sense to me.
Buffalo to sign RB Quinton Ganther

My question is why are we signing this guy? Like this is going to make a difference. If he was any good he'd be playing. Unless he can play on the O-Line or at LB I don't understand it.
