  1. Wow. I'll certainly trust your well trained talen evaluator eye to guys who do this for a living......

    From his NFL.com evaluation page:

The tall, lanky receiver developed into the Golden Eagles' best pass catcher during his time with the team, but also showed impressive blocking technique, averaging 45 knockdowns per season during his career. He also proved to be a clutch pass catcher, scoring 16 times on 155 receptions, the second-highest total by a USM player.

    he is a weak blocker

  2. since we pick 11 in order to equal the middle of round two (the link was referring to the 9th or 10th choice which has obvious greater value) we would need to throw in our own 4th round pick (we would still have a compensatry choice later in round) and then per the draft guide it would equal the 15 pick in the second round...sure he might want a contract, but obviously Bills have some relationship since we made the spikes deal with them..it make sense for all sides since the offensive tackle they desparately need will go soon after the Bills pick at 11.. the josh reed thing is just plain stupid

  3. look at my post from over a month ago (willis for bell)--before the mcgahe rumors started I proposed to marv, willis for bell and swapping of picks (they have an extra third rounder for ashlie leslie deal)...seemed like a logical deal then sign A thomas and add a rookie back with the extra third round pick or sign someone in free agency (buckhalter)..bell is perfect complimentary back...i hope they still try to get him

  4. Not going to happen. For many, many reasons. I'll post one reason but am too disinterested and tired to post more. Other posters can add too it.

    Reason 1

If the Broncos use that pick on a running back, whoever it is, even if they are the worst rated back coming out -will rush for more than McGahee anyways-

    so why do the trade?

  5. actually Peterson is a victim of the Maurice Clarett rule--if wa allowed to come out after his freshman year he probaly goes in top three picks and is now a pro bowl running back, but after two years of getting beat up against 8 or 9 in the box with no offensive line and a team with no quarterback he now is a risky pick.

  6. I nominate Adrian Peterson for my biggest bust of the 2007 draft.

In 2004 Peterson started all 13 games, 2005 he started 7, and in 2006 he started 6. Two out of the three years he hasn’t even played half an NFL season. I’m not going to analyze how he got injured; just simply pointing out that he’s been injured a lot.

Regardless of his injury history his running style won’t help his durability in the pros, or the transition he will make from the college game. Peterson will fight for yards and take on a lot of extra contact. His great strength allows him to drag defenders and break tackles without lowering his pads. In college he could do this and keep his eyes up field, utilizing his speed to break so many long runs. In the pro’s it just won’t work like that, and those additional hits will wear on his 6’2 frame. People naturally think he’s a good between the tackles runner but he’s more of a stretch play home run type, that doesn’t know how to get you 3 or 4 yards consistently. In the pros he has to know how to get 4 yards instead of trying for 50 and getting a loss.

Overall I just see some serious injury concerns, and a large style transition Peterson must overcome to be a franchise back. I don’t think he can be a guy that will survive 5 years from now as a full time starter. He will make some highlight reels but will never live up to the expectations.

    Runner Up- Brady Quinn
