  1. Sorry to hear about that Fong, I had 2 break ins in a 4 days about a month ago and got cleaned out pretty good too. It's a terrible feeling. Hopefully the cops were a lot more helpful to you then the ones I had show up to help me out with mine. They basically told me to let that it was all staged and that I "knew who did this", because you know it'd be worth the hassle to smash in a sliding glass door and pay a deductible for home owners insurance.

  2. Similar experience with some auto work. My transmission went out on my '01 Mazda 626in 2007. I called around to a few places, local Mazda dealer, couple transmission chains and they basically all told me the only fix is to buy a brand new transmission from them to the tune of roughly 3 grand. I found a local shop, the guy I talk to says he's been in business for close to 35 years and would take a look at it and give me a free estimate. I go down to his shop and he gives it the once over and says he could sell me a brand new transmission for around $2,700 but he recommends just having it rebuilt for $2,000 and a 5 year warranty with it. I agree to go with the 2nd option, walk in the day it's ready with $2,000 in cash. I talk to the owner and he says since you're paying in cash, I'll knock off another $200. All in all, going with the local guy saved me close to $1,000. I'm sure there's plenty of crappy stories out there with local businesses, but in my experience, especially with services and repairs, you tend to save money and don't deal with so much bad customer service.

  3. I have always wanted to hook up with a WWE diva.......and i think it would be interesting to know someone who has.....Victoria is from San Bernadino which is right down the street from me.

My best friend's older sister was on WWE Smackdown and quit shortly after her first tv appearance. (Krissy Vaine) We used to give him hell about her eventual pictorial in Playboy once he told us she was going to be on tv. Only story I have, ironically also includes a wrestler. I was in Louisville in the summer '07 for my cousin's wedding and Ric Flair bought my girlfriend a beer in the bar of the hotel we were staying at.

  4. I worked for a major credit card company for 3 years in college and saw the same type thing happen to people all the time. All credit card companies have policies built into the "cardholder agreement" that can trigger shifts in the payment due date. The company was notorious for shifting the due date on a client that has gone from "transactor" (paid in full every month) to "revolver" (paid anything below full balance). The card holder agreement allowed the due date to shift from 20 days after the closing date to 28-33 days after. What really used to get people was the fact that if you revolved one month, it took two payments in full to go back to the revolving status. It's really just a shell game that they play to generate late fees and interest (which they graciously call a finance charge) and I hated having to explain situations like that to people even when I thought it was a really poor policy. That's not the worst of what I've seen while working for a credit card company though, that title goes to people with a perfect payment history missing a due date by one day or a couple dollars on a minimum payment and having $15-$20k worth of balance transfers go from a low APR 3.99% or less into a default rate of 28%...credit cards can be bad news if you aren't savvy and pay attention to statements and due dates and most times their customer service is even worse.
