Like someone else pointed out in another thread, if a star white player called a black GM the n word he would have been suspended by the league for at least a year.

And as someone else replied to that comment, a white player, Riley Cooper, used the N word at a country music concert in a pretty derogatory fashion and then continued playing in the NFL for several years thereafter without any discipline. So there’s that.....

What is fishy about it?  Blount got cut and they signed him.  Moss hated Oakland and losing.  This is what having the best qb and coach do for you.  And if he acts up, they get rid of him.

In the Blount case there were rumors of tampering (especially since he’d already played for them).  Same back with Moss intentionally quitting on the Raiders to get moved there.

Anyone recall this happening repeatedly with other good teams?  Anyone play their way off a team to hook up with Peyton, for example?

Unfortunately I believe this was in place months ago.

It did seem kind of quick and suspect in that right after his meltdown people were talking about him getting nothing more than a minimum deal.  Now the Pats* suddenly sign him to a large deal similar in 2019 pay to the one he got ripped up.  As YOLO noted above, all he’s basically doing is taking a chance that his play this year won’t get him a similar long term deal to replace his Raider deal.

Cheaters always seem to be cheating.

The NFL needs to investigate tampering.  You know they had a deal in place probably days ago. Patriots never stop cheating.

This is at least the 3rd similarly fishy move with these guys—most recently being Blount a few years back and of course Randy Moss a ways back. I’m sure I’m missing some....

It's still ridiculous that he was allowed to return, much less after 2 games missed from an "indefinite suspension."

And Dodson gets played on the commish's exemption list but Patrick Chung isn't?  SMH.

    This^^^^

I thought that penalties were supposed to get increasingly severe for each transgression?  Then again, look no further than who he plays for.....

I think my original comment has been misinterpreted a bit, although it's probably because I articulated it poorly at 130am. At the time, the thought of Andrew Luck headed out the door for a regular job was amusing. That's really it. Luck undoubtedly would never actually join the typical labor force, doesn't need to, and has experience that makes a different path more obvious and more relevant.

As far as my "worker's mentality," I dunno. Maybe? It assumes a superiority of entrepreneurship that opens up another can of worms. What I do know is that I am fortunate enough to have better academic credentials than Luck, run my own laboratory, and do not have 60 mil lol.

I tried to post this last night, but not sure it went through.

Luck apparently really does love architecture—it was well-known that he would stop and visit local architectural marvels on team road trips.  Could see him going in that direction even if he doesn’t financially need to.

Wow - been a customer for 15 years and got treated like total garbage today. Had a service appt scheduled between noon and 4pm - even got texts confirming this morning. 4pm comes, nobody has shown up and I've wasted my afternoon. Call and am told there was some sort of error - no visit today and needs to be rescheduled - I am LIVID. Best I can do is next Saturday. When I ask what they are going to do for me he offers me $20 credit - if I could have pulled him through the phone and beaten him I would have, Customer loyalty said they would credit $48 but they could not do anything else. Went on Twitter to complain and if I don't get better compensation for my loyalty and wasted time all my equipment is going with the tech when he shows up next week - I am so pissed right now I can't even believe it. People are getting this stuff for free and they won't do it for me even after treating me like garbage.

Yup—have had that exact same experience twice over the years.  You have an early morning slot appointment and the guy never shows.  I was as livid as you were.  Called and complained multiple times that day and kept getting a song and dance about the tech being “on the way,” which turned out to be BS., then got the story/ excuse that the techs weren’t their employees (as they hire independent third party vendors).  Total garbage, since they hire the vendors. One of those same vendors apparently took one of my receivers and used it himself or sold it, with me getting the bill for years before they figured it out and shut it off—the jerk then reactivated it each time they shut it off.  It stopped when I told DTV that my next call was going to be not to them, but to a good friend who’s a senior person at the NYAG’s office.

Horrible, horrible customer service—straight out of Lily Tomlin’s old SNL Ma Bell monopoly customer service ads—“we don’t listen to you because we’re the phone company, and we don’t have to”.

May actually give them a go this year after reading this thread.....

The democrat fact checkers thoroughly debunked Peter Schweizer’s entire book that had 70 pages of factual references in a half page article... impressive ?

By the way, unlike Snopes, which “fact checks” in a uniformly partisan direction, Schweizer exposes the rats on both sides of the aisle like McConnell and Paul Ryan.

FYI, I have knowledge of the CFIUS process (including the role of State vs the other agencies), so know Schweizer’s full of ***** on this.

And yeah, Snopes (and many others) have pretty much fully debunked this one.

Guess by that logic anything Trump supposedly did with Russia was 3 years ago, so let it go. The only difference is that there is no denying Clinton selling uranium to Russia to the tune of $145 million to finance her campaign. Trump on the other hand has had the top investigation unit in the world spying on him for 2 years and they still got diddly squat.

Uranium One?  That’s been pretty thoroughly debunked.

    Pigs in a blanket

    Mexican Rice and beans

    Salsa

Sushi (“one of these thing is not like the other”.....)

A few bottles of red and white

Beer in many splendered varieties (Molson, Blue Moon, Bass, Guinness, Ballast Point, Founders, Amstel, Becks, Captain Lawrence, Weheinstefaner, etc)

for 40-50 folks, including kidlings (the SB is kind of our neighborhood thing).  The beer is my only contribution, the rest is my wife’s.

i will need to singlehandedly drink half of those beers if this game goes the way I suspect it might....

I don't get the whining about the refs in this game. They gave Brady a bogus roughing the passer, but the Chiefs had a call or two that went their way too. I'm just not seeing it.

The Saints, on the other hand, got ***** in the ass. They won that game & the refs took it away. If the Rams win the SB the Saints should get honorary rings.

Do you ever wonder why it never, ever seems to even out, however?  As in they seem to win many games through garbage calls, but never seem to lose by them?

i can recall a total of one game they got jobbed—against the Panthers on Monday night 5 or 6 years ago—but can easily think of more than 10 they won that way....

Those who blame the refs are losers, don’t pay attention to them

So, you really thought that roughing the passer that kept their drive alive and led to 7 points was a good call?  Really?

How come we see that EVERY FRICKING YEAR with respect one team and one team only?
