  2. I am helping my daughter with her math homework. We can figure them all out except one. Since the folks on this forum are the smartest people on the face of the earth, I thought you might be able to assist. Here it is.

If the height of a triangle with a base of 8 inches is tripled, it's area is increased by 96 square inches. Find the height of the triangle.

I know that the area of a triangle is, 1/2 base x height. It just doesn't seem like there is enough information there to get the answer. Maybe I am just having a brain fart.

  3. Thanks for all of the input. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and will get it installed on Monday. They did tell me though, that not only do I have committ to DirecTV for two years, but I have to agree to the Sunday Ticket for two years as well. Since I plan on having the Sunday Ticket for as long as they offer it, this wasn't that big of a deal. Now I just have to find a decent off air antenna for local channels, and I will be all set.

  4. Here's the story. I currently have a High Definition ready TV. I was considering buying a Off-air antenna when I realized that I do not have a built in HD tuner. Around here, a tuner is about $225-250. I saw that the Direct TV HD DVR's have a built in tuner for off air antennas. I called Direct TV to price this and they initailly told me it would be $399. When I told them I wasn't interested, they asked me to hold and transferred me to someone who "might get me a better deal". The next saleslady told me since I had Sunday Ticket and had been a long time customer, that they could send me one for free if I signed a 2 year agreement and paid the $9.99 a month HD package. My question is "Is it worth it"? The HD package only has 7 channels and to get the HD Sunday Ticket games is an extra $99 a year. If someone currently has this, I would appreciate any input.

  5. What part of Fern Creek?

Hard to believe how bad the area around Raceland and Bashford Manor is isn't it?

I live by the Courthouse on Outer Loop. It is right on the edge of Fern Creek and Okolona.

They have actually closed Bashford Manor Mall and are in the process of tearing it down and building some different stores.

  6. I have lived in Louisville all of my life and Talonz pretty much hit the nail on the head. The worst thing about the city in my opinion is the weather. In the summer it is so humid you can barely breathe when you go outside. It is also horrible if you have allergies. I currently live in Fern Creek and like the area very much. The south end by Dixie Hwy is full of rednecks. The West end/Downtown is full of thugs and has a high crime rate. The East end is where the wealthier people live. You will pay a lot more for housing, but the public schools are a lot better there. Fern Creek has more blue collar middle class people. Really nice folks in my opinion.
